Hi Marius
I have swapped the supplied 2Gb pi out for an 8Gb pi and back again without any problems.
It is a mater of disconnecting cables from the pi and removing 4 screws to disconnect the pi from the radio board. No soldering, a bit fiddly but relatively easy to do.
The 8Gb upgrade does make a difference but if you wanted to keep costs down then 4Gb pi will still be a good improvement.
The difference is because the 2Gb pi can run out of resources when you start to run other programs as well as the sbitx app itself, for example I use JTDX for FT8 and while it does work fine, eventually audio error messages pop up and it means either stopping the program and restarting it or rebooting the pi for a quick solution. When I tested with an 8Gb pi I already had, I didn¡¯t experience these errors so I think a 4Gb pi would be ok if you wanted to keep costs down.
The other update I would suggest and would be a great learning opportunity is to upgrade the OS to the 64-bit image that JJ built (plenty of info in the group), that also makes some improvements as well as providing some future proofing
