I will certainly refer to it.

I really like the idea of doing I2C in the kernel rather than in user space.

I like the idea of having a core set of functions that can be started and stopped from the command line.

I personally would like to get to a core set of radio functions with multiple ways for the user to interact with them:

  • touchscreen UI (like the current gtk)
  • web-based UI (like the current html one)
  • command line (like yours, I think)
  • network based

  • maybe like ka9q radio project

  • maybe like open web rx

  • maybe like hpsdr protocol 1 and/or 2

  • maybe like soapy remote

So, a radio core with many different ways to interact with it.

One or more of these network-based approaches are proof points that the radio user interface can be totally separated from the device that performs the radio functions.

Of course the network could be inside the box, the main idea is to be able to pick and choose the user interface that works best for what the user is trying to do.
