Hi Gary,
There are several good mods listed on this website:
I? just finished the recommended uneven power fix for another Ham and was very pleased with the results:
The other mod that I did was to add the LDR-based AGC:
I adapted this design by connecting to TP21 instead of the volume control and verified that I had an LDR that would go low enough to impact the volume.? This was done by measuring the resistance of the LDR as per the instruction on the uBitx.net pages.? I also mounted the AGC level control on the front panel.
The Ham also wanted a BCI filter and an S Meter connection to the KD8CEC Nextion screen to display that value.??
The S Meter required adjusting the gain of the LM358 that Dr. Lee (KD8CEC) recommended in his blog:
With an update:
To make it more responsive, I increased the value of R2 to 27KOhms in the LM358 version.

With all of the above, I have not modified my 3 v6 uBitx to use the Nextion display.? The only real addition provided by the upgrade is the onscreen S Meter display.? The other issues with the v6 can be addressed with software.? My current favorite is the M8MEseries.? For the v5 or earlier, I did upgrade both my v4 and v5 to the Nextion displays.
I recommend starting with the software upgrade and using it for some time to get the feel of the radio.? If you are a CW operator, you will want to change the software relatively soon, as the stock has several issues.
Feel free to post back with any questions.
