From: Sharon Pohlman I was surprised Mariah Carey didn't make the list Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2025 inductees are here. See who made the list. Melissa Ruggieri USA TODAY The boys club that comprises this year¡¯s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class also contains a female solo musician who has always been a striking presence: Cyndi Lauper. She's among the seven new inductees, whittled from a list of 14 announced earlier this year, who spotlight a more conventional rock lineup ¨C excepting Atlanta hip-hop innovators Outkast ¨C than the genre diverse classes of recent years. The newest entrants, announced during the live broadcast of the ¡°Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Night¡± episode of ¡°American Idol" on April 27, are: Bad Company Chubby Checker Joe Cocker Cyndi Lauper Outkast Soundgarden The White Stripes When does the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony air? The full induction ceremony airs live Nov. 8 from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Disney+ and arrives on Hulu the next day. A condensed version will air on ABC at a yet-to-be-announced date. Those who didn¡¯t make the cut this year include The Black Crowes, Billy Idol, Mana? and Phish ¨C all first-time nominees ¨C along with Mariah Carey and Oasis (both nominated in 2024 for the first time) and Joy Division/New Order (nominated once before in 2023). Who won the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame fan vote? Veteran jam band Phish won the fan vote with almost 330,000 ¨C about 50,000 more than the next highest, Bad Company ¨C but contrary to popular belief, winning the fan vote does not guarantee induction. Phish are only the second artist since the Dave Matthews Band in 2020 to earn fan kudos but not induction the same year (DMB joined the Rock Hall in 2024). When voting closed April 21 after a two-month window, the top seven earners in the fan vote received one vote each toward their final total. The top fan vote earners in order were Phish, Bad Company, Idol, Lauper, Cocker, Soundgarden and Checker.More: American Music Awards 2025 nominations: Kendrick Lamar dominates with 'Not Like Us'Who is being honored at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2025? In addition to the performer inductees, the Rock Hall presents several more awards. Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon will be recognized with the Musical Influence Award. Inspiring Quotes for Sunday, April 27, 2025
Fear has a very concrete power of keeping us from doing and saying the things that are our purpose. Luvvie Ajayi In her popular 2017 TED Talk ¡°Get Comfortable With Being Uncomfortable,¡± bestselling author, speaker, and podcast host Luvvie Ajayi pointed out the undeniable power of fear. That powerful force can wind up controlling our actions ¡ª or inaction, as is often the case. But Ajayi encouraged her audience to use it as a motivator. ¡°I'm not going to let fear dictate what I do,¡± she said. ¡°Anything that scares me, I'm going to actively pursue it.¡± Feeling afraid doesn¡¯t have to be a warning sign of what to avoid; instead, it can act as a beacon, lighting a path for us to push outside our comfort zone, which is the only way to grow. Inspiring Quotes for Saturday, April 26, 2025
We cannot be more sensitive to pleasure without being more sensitive to pain. Alan Watts Author and philosopher Alan Watts was fascinated at a young age by Eastern spiritual traditions such as Buddhism and Taoism, and carried tenets from them into his writing and public speaking. One of these is the knowledge that being fully alive means accepting both the highs and lows, the pleasure and the pain. Blocking out difficult emotions might soften the blow, but it can also prevent you from fully experiencing joy. Sensitivity is a double-edged sword: When life deals its blows, remember that the capacity to feel deeply will make the good times that much sweeter. Mary Live long and prosper

Inspiring Quotes for Saturday, April 25, 2025
If there's love in a house, it's a palace for sure. Tom Waits Tom Waits is an American musician who cut his teeth in the 1970s singer-songwriter circuit. Waits¡¯ expansive discography often centers around the darker underbelly of society: lost love, broken homes, drug use, runaways. The song this line comes from, ¡°House Where Nobody Lives,¡± is no exception. The lyrics describe an abandoned house, contemplating the lives it once held as it now stands alone and choked with weeds. Waits uses the decrepit structure to illustrate the fickleness of worldly possessions. ¡°Houses are just made of wood,¡± he sings in the final verse. ¡°What makes a house grand ain¡¯t the roof or the doors. If there¡¯s love in a house, it¡¯s a palace for sure.¡± Mary Live long and prosper
