Mosaic Outdoor Clubs of America would like to extend a warm welcome to our special guest, Mr. Hugh Mainzer.
Mr. Mainzer is a practicing Veterinarian and works with the?CDC in Atlanta as a Team Leader/ Preventive Medicine Officer-Veterinary Epidemiologist. He is?actively licensed to practice veterinary medicine in 4 states (GA, MD, MA, and PA), has an adjunct teaching appointment at Tufts Veterinary School, and is board certified in veterinary preventive medicine.?
Hugh is?willing to engage with us to discuss current clinical and public health issues, some timely issues (e.g. rules for taking pets on aircraft, animal care, and recreation during COVID), and general pet care questions.?

?As quarantining and social distancing become the norm across the globe, and we spend more time alone and at home, many of us are turning to pets as a source of joy and interaction.
From cats to birds, hedgehogs to horses, dogs to guinea pigs and rabbits to lizards, pets play an important role.
Join us as we explore how pets provide comfort, companionship, relief and humor. It's sure to lift your spirits.

We will screen some hilarious pet videos and share pet stories and songs. We'll have a Pet Fashion Show, with extra points for matching owner and pet costumes!?
We'll have breakout rooms where we can exchange tips, thoughts, and fond stories about our dogs, cats, reptiles, birds, and any pets you have.

You'll have the opportunity to show off your pet and your pet's tricks. Go ahead: amuse us, impress us or make us go "awwww...."

It brings together members of the Jewish community to celebrate and explore the great outdoors in a social setting. This is achieved by: 1) Sponsoring activities on a national/international scale; and 2) Encouraging and facilitating the formation and continuation of local Mosaic clubs for the purpose of sponsoring local/regional activities.

Stop the Trump Endangered Species Act Rule
|
Judith,
The Endangered Species Act is the best tool we have to save animals and plants from extinction. But right before it ended,?the Trump administration's eleventh-hour proposed rule would undercut protections for endangered species on public lands across the country.
If finalized, the rule would allow federal agencies to ignore new scientific information on harms to endangered species, including climate change. That would let agencies carry out destructive logging, drilling, roadbuilding, livestock grazing and other projects ¡ª even if new data show that those activities are pushing a rare animal or plant toward extinction.

Israeli-Costa Rican Animal Rescue Center
I stayed with them many years ago to consult with them on marketing their Lands in Love eco-resort, which funded their animal rescue center.? I ate simple vegan meals with them instead of in their tourist restaurant and got to know them behind the scenes. They are all Israelis and I also have Israeli citizenship. They invited me to move there and join them in their mission, but I returned to the US.
I see the animal rescue portion has grown tremendously since I was there!? Not having tourism from the pandemic, they need donations more than ever. The short video tells the story.?
Costa Rica is a very poor country and there are so many abandoned dogs, cats, and other animals. It makes me so sad to see dogs and cats in kennels instead of in loving homes, but I know it¡¯s better than the alternative.
