Dave,

Candy and I are planning to do the ride, is there a ride with gps file in case we decide to take the shortcut?

Thanks

Mike

Ride schedule update for June and July

Hi all,

Ed and I really enjoyed the first tandem ride of the season in April.? It was great?to meet, ride, and socialize with the MWABA captains and blind stokers!

Next up is the Three Covered Bridges with Dave and Julie Harper on May 18.

The ride dates for June and July have both moved one week later than the original schedule I sent out.? I am attaching an updated schedule with the changed dates marked in red,?and they have been updated on the BBC and PPTC calendars.

We hope to see you on a ride soon!

Thanks,
Laurie and Ed

Dave and Julie,
We would love to ride with you but unfortunately, we are out of town that weekend.? Very poor planning on our part!

Hello Tandem Riders,

Julie and I will be leading the Three Covered Bridges ride for Saturday May 18 at 9:30 AM. This ride is a long time club favorite and passes through three covered bridges in Frederick County, MD. The terrain is rolling and nearly perfect for tandems, with approximately 1600 ft of elevation change over 41.6 miles. There are several parks along the route where we can regroup and / or take rest breaks. We will also pass through Emmitsburg, where drinks and snacks are available, and Mt St. Mary's University. We will use the tunnel under US 15 at Mt. St. Mary's to avoid crossing the highway. We also pass near Thurmont, where food and drinks are also available.

The ride start location is Utica Park, which has restrooms:

We will be using this RWGPS route:

I have made one change to the route from last year to eliminate a fairly steep hill.

We had 6 tandems and 2 singles on this ride last July and everyone seemed to enjoy it. We hope you will join us on Saturday May 18.

Re: April 20 MWABA ride in Bethesda

Reminder that the WABITS/MWABA bike ride is this Saturday in Bethesda. We're looking for a couple more captains to ride with MWABA stokers (either on your own tandem or an MWABA tandem) if you're interested, but it would also be great for you to join with your own tandem partner or on a single bike. Hopefully see you on Saturday!?

Fw: BBC 2024 Season Opener Sunday April 14

Hello Tandem Riders

Hope you are staying dry and gaining even more motivation to ride!? Don't forget to RSVP for the BBC Season Opener by April 10 if you are staying for food. (BBC members only for food after the ride--well worth joining the club for so many reasons if you are not a member--plenty of free things throughout the year)? Evie and I, plus at least 2 more tandems, will be there.? We plan to do the 38-mile route--very tandem friendly:)

Also, prices increase on April 8 for the BBC Chestertown Weekend over Memorial Day.? GREAT tandem country and very well priced for all the amenities you get at historic Washington College.? Evie and I will be there this year--we've been to 35+ of these and can't say enough good things about it.? Link? to the BBC Chestertown weekend follows:

Safe cycling and best wishes,?

There will be a memorial and celebration of life for Jenny Sunderwirth on April 20, 2024 from 11:30-2:30 at Fiddler¡¯s Bar & Grill, 1 Mayapple Dr., Carlisle, PA 17015.?? Lunch will be served at noon, followed by eulogies and a short video.?

I know that it¡¯s a bit of a hike for some of you and if you can¡¯t make it, that¡¯s totally understandable but I wanted to offer up the chance and PA was more central to Jenny¡¯s family.
