Experimentation
开云体育I need someone to perform an experiment (I’m away from my radios). ?For those that have my encoder boards… could I get someone to replace the 0.1uF capacitors on the board with 0.01uF capacitors and report back if you get better performance out of the encoder or not?? Meaning with 0.01uF caps its been reported that the speed at which you can turn the encoders and get resolved pulses, increases. ? This is a departure from what the encoder applications from the manufacturer’s suggest… but its always nice to learn… ? ? Dr. William J. FW: [SoftwareControlledHamRadio] T41 Xmit Performance
From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Albert Peter via groups.io
Sent: Saturday, December 28, 2024 7:30 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [SoftwareControlledHamRadio] T41 Xmit Performance ? Hi Everyone, I have been doing some initial T41 V12 hardware performance testing. This is just a beginning, but it shows how well the T41 with V12 hardware performs, including the K9HZ 20W amp, V12 BPF and V12 LPF all I2C connected. The boards are a combination of K9HZ boards and Justin's (AI6YM) new kit boards. Both are excellent. The following pic is of the slightly revised interior layout. Moved everything over to make room on the right for more stuff. Next, is a plot showing the wide-range spectrum to 50MHz of the SSB output at 10W. The harmonic at 14MHz is at -52dB. No other harmonics are visible. In each case below, the spectrum analyzer was connected to the T41 through a 40dB dummy load/attenuator. ? ? Next is the CW response at 17W. First harmonic is at -49.5 dB. ? ? The following plot shows a SSB 10W 40M plot of an audio input sweep. The plot is a narrow frequency range around the carrier frequency, showing the LSB channel and the next adjacent channel. Note that the adjacent channel response is down more than 40dB on both sides. The next plot is the response at 20M.? ? ? Finally, an end to end frequency response of the T41 system is shown. The over-the-air response was monitored using a Flex6400M from the phones output. The input audio to T41 is swept from 0Hz to 6KHz. Output was about 3W. The response is essentially flat from 250Hz to over 4KHz. ? I will continue the testing, including some QSOs, hopefully. (If Jerry or other T41 users would like to setup a time, perhaps we could connect.) ? At this point, I am quite pleased with the T41 V12 hardware with all I2C connections. 73s Al AC8GY |

Re: Alpha 87 Kit
开云体育I got into a bit of a dust-up with Dishman on the Alpha 87A forum over that advanced programming about two years ago when I was looking for those PALs as well.? ??First I asked nicely if he might sell me some old ones, to which he replied NO, that’s old hardware that he doesn’t support!?? Then I asked if he wanted to sell that part of the business… even give him a split of the royalties for every set I sell.? His response was emphatically NO and He suggested that I buy a 9500 instead for almost $10K.? My response to that was… I can easily go the way of designing my own retrofit kits… through my engineering company… if need be… ?and cut his ass out of the loop…. To which he exploded (with a lot of tossing out the word “unsupported” and “everyone should buy one of my new amps” comments) .? I’ve worked on joint projects with him before and he can be a bit volatile at times.? In any case, my team designed some retrofit hardware for the 87A and we have prototypes in one of my 87A amps sitting here.? I need to talk with my team to see if they want to move forward with kits or not.? I can always scavenge enough parts together to make kits for myself… but for the general public… that’s more work and is another thing entirely. ? The processor we used is an ARM CORTEX M7… so you can program it with the Arduino IDE… and its open, so anyone can write their own software for the tuning algorithms if they think they can do better than what is provided. ? In any case, we will talk about it sometime in January. ? ? Dr. William J. Schmidt - K9HZ J68HZ 8P6HK ZF2HZ PJ4/K9HZ VP5/K9HZ PJ2/K9HZ VP2EHZ ?
