Re: Part II of new run

No idea.? There are some mixed mineral samples,? trinitite, lantern mantles,? radium bridge markers, couple big F3 smoke detectors etc in a couple boxes back in the corner.? And about 800# of remelted lead from recovered bullets sitting on the floor.?

I tried to take pictures at beginning and end for getting accurate run time,? and it does report the volume of flow over the run period.?

Definitely agree on getting a straight up comparison.? That's part of why I figured you might want to have a few of these to try.?

It will be useful when we post data to give all the parameters of that run. The spectra is really says nothing without knowing the peak count, count time and volume sampled, so label those files with respect to the Radon counts. Sample time is flow rate (l/min) divided by 1000* M^3 volume.

When comparing filters we need to run in the same Rn concentration and for the same flow rate and time.

I’ll post the PTFE filter data after a couple of hours.

New run on Smartcam with Geo filter

Exhaust fan has been running,? but I kept the door closed except going in and out a few times.?

Re: Geo's filter material trial

On a plane to Lexington (well,? Atlanta first) and flying back Wednesday.? When I pulled the card out after posting,? I realized I'd instants the filter material smooth side up...? Will run again the other way after I get back.? ?Hoping I can take Friday off as planned to get ready for the long drive.? ?If that works out,? I should be able to run some more that day too.

It's been close to 100 in the shop lately,? and the stainless cabinet seems to be very hot to the touch.? ?I'll do a temp check,? maybe take thermal images...

I also plan to pull the CF card out of #2 and copy the contents to laptop before changing settings.? ?It was set on eastern time and was off by about half an hour.?

While wiring that one,? I noticed the data line going from the RJ45 on the bottom runs to a connector on the bottom of the circuit board on the right side,? about a third of the way down.? ?There's also an unused RJ45 on top of the circuit board under the black plastic shield which is not visible normally.?

On filter cards,? I need to find a better way to punch them for cleaner 1" holes.? I do have a cool little punch set of i can find it that might be better than the gasket punch or might just need a better backup using that one.? Haven't tried the arbor press yet either,? just popping it with a rubber mallet.

Here it is.? ?Bummer only goes to 3/4"...

Not sure if would work better anyway in paper.? Though my machining skills are strictly amateur metal butcher class,? maybe I could make something similar for 1".

Geo's filter material trial

Ran this over 5.5 hours.? ?Shed exhaust fan off, closed up overnight,? door closed during the entire run except for going in or out,? so minimal air exchange.?

Re: Nick's first unit run

Your flow much higher than mine...probably why I get filter alarm.

Everything downstairs now..where more vacuum pumps are available.

Re: Nick's first unit run

And now,? 5.5 his of run time.? I did hit save spectrum before opening the filter lever.?

What ferrite? I just ran it in .

You have very low radon, more like outdoors. I generally have 2-3 pCi/l. After running for a short period it runs up to 4 or 5 the drops down to a fairly constant 2-3. I wonder if the early peak may be an artifact of the algorithm.
