CRM--510 also logs temperature, relative humidity, and Barometric pressure against radon to correlate storm fronts and furnace cycling.

?What is a ?CRM-510? How does it measure the ?radon?. I hate to say it but if it¡¯s off and in storage it¡¯s not sampling or measuring radon. Old last measurement maybe? Dud ? ? ? This thing connects to Radnet too. Alan, I, Peter and others are looking towards lab alpha spec with the Eberline 6A, WL meters? and others incl. NIM. And other solid-state setups. Plugged in the CRM-510 in same room with the IMPEX, within 10 minutes it was reading 2.4 pCi/L. But it never shuts off, the ion chamber is on even in storage so, it's hot as soon as you activate the electronics. ----- Original Message -----

Geo, to monitor for Thoron
set up the top window for Po-212 Acute and use a short time window. You could
also look at the raw cps Dud ? ? Geo, I¡¯m looking for the
numbers ¨C what was the flow rate and how long was it running when you took that
picture? Until you get another
filter I would not load that one up as it¡¯ll take over 8 hrs to calm down due
to the Bi-212 I can only assume the
calculations will adjust for this but this unit is set up to monitor relatively
steady state Rn-222 as set up by the factory. How to switch it over to a user
defined and calibrated ROI type is a question we need answered by the factory.
Remember this is not a lab alpha spectrometer it¡¯s a CAM. There are procedures
for source calibrating ROI¡¯s in the manual. I would not change any ROI¡¯s right
now that would be asking for trouble without more guidance. Dud ? ? Yes it has to run for a
good long time to get your stable reading, when first started pumping it reads
very low, orders of magnitude. NICK- ask this question of
your contact - what OTHER isotopes can it be calibrated to? Today I tried
changing the Regions of interested or shutting them off, but it wouldn't seem
to let that happen. I suspect we can block the Uranium generated radon from
alarming and just have the Thorium radon set it off? I think I'll let it smell
Thoron gas for a while and watch the spectrum. ----- Original Message

Geo, Yes 1.8 pCi/l you just
have to multiply the screen reading by 1000 to get Liters. How long was that run when
you took the picture, 53 min or so? and what was the flow rate ?0.87 l/m?
?That low radon count must be from a limestone bedrock or you opened a
window. Dud ? ? ? doesn't that work out to
1.8pCi/L? That's about right for
here, I think. Normal background Gamma is low here in particular because behind
the house is no ground, just air. ----- Original Message

Geo, You may have to
recalibrate the touch screen . Mine was very hard to get the monitor tab to
come up. There is a procedure in the manual that will allow you to fix the
touch
screen positions. I found using a soft pointed touch screen pen worked better
than fingers on that top bar.. Be careful not to scratch the screen with a hard
pointy pen. ? How long was that run when
you took the picture 53 min or so? and what was the flow rate ?0.87 l/m?
?That
low radon count must be from a limestone bedrock or you opened a window. Dud ? ? It took more time to
figure out you can't punch those buttons easily with FF (Fat Fingers) Tried
some tools and found something that worked AOK. Following your instructions was
easy (sort of, regular easy, like training a cat easy, not easy-peasy). Results are in line with
the other instruments now. Those have been taken in other rooms though, but
very close. Will set them all up in
same place and see for real.
