Yep I was thinking the same thing Nick, I need a scientific instrument not an alarm clock with? flashing lights. Others may not have the same goals, this I understand.

I'm thinking I don't need the possible fragile LED stack on top,? so a possibility for me is to either just disconnect it and cap the hole or even install red and green LEDs in the front cover like Geo's mod on the LENi conversions.?
It looks like the little Gast pump might've been left in NM after all.? ?I have a Thomas compressor,? like an airbrush type, that seems to output a goodly amount of air.? I could set it in a plastic tote with the source and have it push air into the SmartCAM,? or rig up a different box with the source in it hooked to the monitor with a hose to pull air through it rather than push.? But I think pushing air through would be better so it could cool itself more effectively.?
I simply unplugged the Sonalert! Also the LED stack.

I bet just a piece of tape over it will go a long way.? Maybe a piece of thin cardboard.? ?I was lightly holding a thumb on it and that killed most of the noise.?
I need to pull that little Gast I have off the trailer,? see of it works,? then if it will pull enough volume...

Geo/Nick To convert the wacko ?E-17
radon reading go to command mode with the Key get to the Radon tab and change
the 1e-16 to 186 which is the Po218 half life.. Bring up the Radon Acute default
page to read Po 218 acute and Radon Acute. It will be in pCi/ml multiply by
1000 to get pCi/l.? I need to use Radon raw and Po raw but I still need to figure
out how to do that. I¡¯m running the RAD 7and
the SmartCAM together and the CAM showing 3.5 pCi/l ?while The RAD 7 is averaging
4.0 pCi/l ?+- 2.1. Doing a manual calculation it always comes up low by a
factor 3 or so. That ma be due to not having all their corrections in there and
using acute cps Dud ? ? " Geo, What kind of solid samples

Peter, The Smart Cam and usual
Radon sampling run around 32 L/min (1 cft/min). Geo, What kind of solid samples

Alpha in air? That's fine, my intention was to do Alpha solid samples with my
6A head. ----- Original Message

Subject: Re: Alpha and Beta particle nuclear decay studies. need some pointers
to background info on this topic Need some advice.
What sort of airflow does the Eberline 6A expect ?
Or more useful is what sort of airflow should I use ? I don't know how make use
of the airflow control circuit in the 6A so I thought I might plumb the air
directly from a pump.
I have an old SKC air sampler pump. It sucks, but I can also get it to pump. It
goes up to 5l/min
4l/m @ 20" of back pressure.
