PIC Question

I have used my PICKIT 3 to program the PIC in my ATU-100.? I erased it first then after downloading Version 3.2 of the firmware I programmed it.? It passed Verify and the Blank Check.? I made the changes to set it up for Automode.? My question is if the PIC is bad would I be able to program it as described?? My tuner doesn't respond the RF.? It doesn't attempt to tune.? I do hear the relay click when I turn on the power.
Thank you,
Bill

hi Bill,
after beeing able to program the processor, there is a chance, that he will be able to do his work as intended. But ther are many reasons, why he is inhibited to do his work... :-)
?
To enable us (me) helping you, tell us please
is it a ready built AT-100?
did it ever tune before?
what voltage (DC) are you applying, is it stable?
which RF power-level are you applying?
what are the displayed data during applying RF-power?
is there any reaction to applied RF-power even in manual mode?
what is displayed after tuning attempt?
?
Without knowing any circumstances it's difficult to locate any problem...
First shot from me for ready-built ones:
Often one or even both rectifier-diodes (BAT41 / 1N5711) at the bridge are not corresponding to their designated values.
For self assembled ones:
The solder points of the bridge wires are not just good... (insulation not fully removed)
If not purchased a complete set: values of resistors differ from designated values...
While soldering, you made unwillingly shorts with solder...
?
So let us know some more of your issue...

1.? It was purchased as an assembled tuner.
2.? Yes, it did work before.? I downloaded the original Firmware and saved it before updating it to the 3.2 version.? Even with the original software it will not work now.
3.? It doesn't have a display.? I was using it as a remote tuner.
4.? Applying 13.8 vdc and it is stable.
5.? RF IN was 5 to 20 watts.
6.? It didn't originally have a TUNE button, but I did install one but when pushed the tuner still doesn't do anything.

Thanks for your input!!? I was using 4.75 volts with the PICKIT 3 to program it but changed it to 3.6 volts.? The maximum voltage for the 16F1938 is 5.5 volts as per the data sheet so 4.75 volts shouldn't have harmed it.

ok, Bill,
did you fill all cells of eeprom like before??
with no values for minimal tuning power or number of windings on binocular there could/may be some unexpected reactions..
?
I ever set Vdd to 5V from the programmer... but this does no harm.
The values for capacitors and inductors ar not used while no display. These values are only used for calculating the displayed values. I don't know, if there occurs an error, if they are all zero while the attempt to calculate the display value. Better to fill in values I think.
My picture shows all values for transformer with 10 windings and minimal tuning power set to 5 watts. Display is set to LCD1602 with address 78 (hex 4E).?
Do a try...

I tried it after downloading the original firmware that was in it.? But still doesn't work.
Picture of original firmware.
?
?
Picture of the version 3.2 I downloaded now.
?
Thank you,
Bill

Bill,
I compared both:
different selected display (cells 00 and 01) , no issue
?
min power (cell 05) is now 5W, was 1W
perhaps the reason for not to tune... (I hope)
?
Ratio (turns on binocular) (cell 31) was 9, is now 10
makes differences in displayed power, no issue
?
Feeder-loss is now 00, was 12, no issue
?
nothing further found :-(
?
do a try with the old values... I have no clue what has happened in between.
?
Is there nobody in the group, who underwent similar experiences??
?

I changed the value in cell 05 to 01 but it still won't do anything.

No idea what has happened to it.? It used to work quite well.

Thank you for investigating this for me.
