Display options

Aaron K5ATG

I'm going to put one of these ATU 100's inside the case for my uBITX (Yes I did the QRP mods). What are the options on showing the status of the ATU-100 other than an LCD or OLED? Is it possible to rig up a bar graph or some LCD's? Any other ideas? My metalworking skills lack any skill and I'm pretty sure I will hack up the front of my case adding a little hole for an OLED. If the OLED or LCD is the only option then I will have to go that route but I would like to know my options before making a decision.?

Display can be as simple as a red-green LED,?
or a 2 row by 16 character 1602 LCD,??
or a 4 row by 9 character SSD1306 OLED display,? ?
or sense discrete levels of the CLK and DAT signals on the programming header.?
To change display options, you may need to change settings stored in the microprocessor EEPROM.?
Read the ATU-100 Technical description,?

Hi, Aaron
Technically you can don't use any display, it will work too.
But if you want to see some info like output power and SWR you can use 2x16 LCD or OLED.
That's equal just choose what you like more.?

I like the idea of knowing what is going on with the tuner, especially the info that the OLED shows. My concern is me hacking up the front panel to make a hole for the display and I really don't have the funds to have someone with more skills do it for me.?
It is being used with a uBITX with a 3.5" Nextion display and in a perfect world I could have the ATU information on the Nextion display. I'm sure that it could be done but I don't know much about how to program the Nextion.?
Thank you for the help and suggestions?

There was mention a while back of a method of having a local display of a remote ATU, Anyone remember who/where to locate this info ? ISTR it was an implementation of I2c interfacing in software.

I'm putting together the uSDX SOTA, I have the board for the ATU but not the talent yet for the surface mount stuff

Grab a surface mount soldering practice board like this from Amazon.? I feel very confident now.? Just be careful, there aren't that many spare LED's in here.

This brings up that "I wish" the UART was active and available and there were a set of commands like: "get <forward/reflected> power" and "set <inductance/capacitance> <value/index>? and "set tuner mode <CL/LC>"? etc etc.??

Then with this capability, a RS422 or 485 xceiver could be used to remote the ATU hundreds of feet away and the display and controls could be fully remote.? Or it could be fully controlled by another MCU like the bitx.?

Just a wish list.
