Auto mode

I want to setup my ATU-100 in a waterproof box at the base of my 111ft (34mtrs) Inverted "L" Long Wire.

I gather that if I momentarily ground RB1 just once to will push it into Automatic mode and save to memory.?

Question . . . Is RB1 the pad on the underside of the PCB, marked B1 alongside B2, A7 and A6 ?

Hopefully, that simple.

Many thanks

Steve/G4MJW?

Steve,

you can reprogram the EEPROM section of the ATU and write the value 01 into location 02 and that will permanently put the device into auto mode - assuming you don¡¯t have any buttons to override the mode.?

Many thanks for that Karl. I have done it before when I fitted an ATU-100 in the feed box on my Cobweb Aerial. I have a Pickit but forgotten how I did it!

I touched the B1 pin to ground and it is working automatically now. I'm using this seco d ATU-100 with a new Icom IC-705 and it won't set off the tuner with 10 wTts. It does work on my IC-7300 but needs 12-13 Watts. So, I'm planning on doing the "Low Power" mod and will do the permanent Auto mod at same time.

I have an ATU-100 in auto mode, remotely mounted with a 4:1 balun for a Doublet.
With 10 watts continuous carrier into the ATU it finds a 1.1:1 match and then about 5 seconds later retunes to the 1.1:1 match, it cycles this continuously while there is rf present.
Any ideas why.

RF on the power supply line? I would wrap a couple of turns of the power lead through a 31 mix ferrite.

Good idea, but I should have said. The power is via a DC Tap over the coax. all well decoupled and as used on other ATU-100 installations without issues.

To verify can you temporarily power the ATU100 via a battery and see it it still retunes?

Hi Steve,

I've had an issue similar to yours: the unit was in an infinite loop trying to get the match.
I've found 2 defective diodes that are in parallel with relays coils (my version is ATU150 - handles 150 W, which is not exactly equal to ATU100), and one transistor , 2n7002 also defective: current leakage from emitter to collector.
So, your problem may be also caused by a bad relay contact closure or opening. The cause can be defective diodes or capacitor in parallel with relay coils, and also a driving transistor.
I would also check the cell 31 value: I have increased mine from 15 to 25, since the relays on my ATU150 are bigger than the original ones on ATU100.

Goof Luck,
