I recently purchased an ATU-10 assembled (AliExpress) which arrived today. ?Mechanically, all appears to be soundly constructed. ?The display notes firmware version 1.5 on start up. ?
Now the crunch..
I tried to upgrade to 1.6 using the method described in the thread ( previous post, just drag the hex file onto the external drive which is the tuner). ?I downloaded the zip file on to my desk top. ?But, neither my Microsoft PC nor my MacBook will recognize the USB (computer port) to C connection (tuner port). ?The C port appears to work, as I charged the batteries to full upon arrival. The computer USB port works because I plugged a mouse in to test it.?
So, is this a hardware mismatch created by a substituted main chip? Or, am I missing a magic combination or switch of some sort of which I a, unaware?

I thought it might be a “defective” cable, but I thought since it charged properly, that wasn’t the case.
So, your suggestion is a good one. ?I’ll have to find and try another C to USB cable. ?I’ll let you know what happens when I get a replacement cable plugged in.

That’s all it was! ?The cable that came with the ATU was for charging only, not data transfer. ?Unbelievable!

Thanks Donald, it took less than 5 minutes beginning to end, to transfer version 1.6 and all it took was the use of a cellphone cable in lieu of the supplied one.
