It there any button push that will bypass the tuner?

Re: ATU-10 Firmware Update Article #ATU-10

Hi, Tony
Some constants should be changed and also control routines should be changed for additional control line .?

Re: ATU-10 Firmware Update Article #ATU-10

Dear David,

First of all - thank you for the project!

Is it a requirement of the new tuning algorith that the matrix is square? 8*8 or 9*9.
I'm looking into a 7*8 matrix: seven inductors and eight capacitors. Will it work?

Warm regards,
Tony

Re: ATU-10: an alternative PCB layout?

Hello!

I've compiled the , thanks David.

Warm regards,
Tony

Re: ATU-10 Firmware Update Article #ATU-10

Hello!

Thanks, David, for the firmware update (the v1.5 for ATU-10)!

Regarding any further enhancements I am sure, - it should be a "diff-T" tuning circuit rather than LC/CL one.
I did impedance evaluations that show - with the 7*7 matrix the diff-T works very promising from 1,8MHz not loosing much at the upper bands.
By abandoning the nned to switch between the LC/CL layouts we can use the eighth relay to add one more capacitor stage to the matrix.
With a refined choice for the eight capacitors and seven inductors - a really versatile ATU may be obtained.
I'm working on this.

(by the way - I've compiled )

Warm regards,
Tony

Thanks, I don't know how many times I looked at that documentation and missed the comment for cell 01.

Re: Shell instructions #atu-100

By the way there are some nice videos on YouTube made by GM0VUY about this theme. hope it helps. 73

Hi David,

it's not under my copyright, so I will no make it available for public without the permission from the owner.
To brake laws has nothing to do with ham spirit in my opinion.

Re: Shell instructions #atu-100

Hi, Andreas
Why you did not make that PDF is?available to the public here, according to the HAM spirit ??

Re: Shell instructions #atu-100

hey Luca don't be so nasty ;-). A installation guide can be helpful to do this job and train new skills.
Aaron send me a pm with your emailadresse. I will send you an PDF with the instructions of a similar enclosure.?
We call that ham spirit. ;-))

Re: Shell instructions #atu-100

If you need instructions for a simple enclosure installation this job is not for you. I suggest to purchase a complete ATU.

Re: updated the firmware with bad one. Now OLED wont display anything ( 2 oled tested)

Depending on the display, the value for the cell#1 is documented here:?

There are 2 values for each display type. One for normal, one for inverted.

I updated the firmware on my ATU-100 and changed the values that Pierre used for the display. The display works correctly but displays upside down (inverted). I couldn't find any reference about changing the configuration. Does anyone have any experience with this problem?

Thanks

Re: updated the firmware with bad one. Now OLED wont display anything ( 2 oled tested)

Finally got it to work

the final config was 78 for the i2c data and 04

I did understood how to work with the IPE and it was the main problem.?

So thnaks for the help!

Shell instructions #atu-100

I bought a shell off of eBay and of course, it came with no instructions. At this point,
I have been unable to find any instructions for this shell. I have a lot of pits and pieces but not sure where they all go.?

Re: Power and SWR reading are wrong on upper bands.

Made some measurements today and above 21MHz I get some RF on 12V line. It is more with bigger frequency.?
Removed one filter capacitor (that comes in parallel with the coil of a relay) and I have 2Vpp on the 12V side. I get this , even without connecting ATU to power supply, without any cables. So, it doesn't cone from power supply.
RF noise seems to be more on inductors side.?
Where might come from? Relays, diodes, tandem match?

Re: updated the firmware with bad one. Now OLED wont display anything ( 2 oled tested)

On EEPROM, cell #01 is for display type. You have "04" there but for 128*32 display it should be "02".
Also check cell #01 , 7A to match the i2c address of the display. I think for your display the address should be "78".

So, try to change first 2 values to 78 and 02 and give it a try.

updated the firmware with bad one. Now OLED wont display anything ( 2 oled tested)

Hi, noob error , I took the version 3.2 firmware and chose the wrong hex.?

When I tested with that hex, not worked of course.?
Finnaly figured out what was happening. took the good hex, but now the eepdata section was all FF
I took the instruction and filled the info with what I found over the instruction.

But I now have no display. I use this:?

0.91 inch 128*32 OLED Display Module SSD1306 LCD Display Screen 12832 128X32 IIC I2C?
Specifications:

Resolution: 128*32
Display Color: White / Yellow / Blue
Driver IC£ºSSD1306
IIC Interface:
1.GND(Power Ground)
2.VCC(Power +)
3.SCL(Clock)
4.SDA(Data)

It was working before the failed update.?

Anyone can help with this???

here is the data in the eeprom

Thanks

Pierre

Re: the ATU100 on receive

Hi.

While the ATU does need a Tx SWR measurement to change, once the change has been made and is set at that particular frequency (thank you latching relays), then the "volume" of the received signal at that signal will be increased, in lockstep with the noise.
Note - the SNR of received signals will absolutely not be affected. The ATU in the matching state means that every signal that the antenna is handing towards the receiver is less attenuated compared to when there is an impedance mismatch. This includes all of the noise and all of the desired signal.
Receive antennas with a bad impedance match will be quieter on receive. As long as the antenna noise floor is above the receiver noise floor, it makes absolutely no difference to the receiver as all of the available signal is there to be decoded.
The only time that an ATU will improve (when talking about SNR only) a receive signal, is when the impedance mismatch is large and the receiver is fairly deaf. In that particular case, the noise floor of the antenna is not being picked up by the receiver, meaning that faint signals are being lost in the receiver noise floor. Once that impedance mismatch is removed, the noise floor height is improved, hopefully to the point that the receiver can in fact now hear that noise floor, and that signals close to the nosie floor will now be hearable.

In short, if the noise floor changes on the receiver when the antenna is added, there's no reason to need an impedance match *for receive*?

Re: ATU-10 Firmware Update Article #ATU-10

David,

User name ZAO, Tony, has done a version using one of the detector devices. Perhaps he has compatible PCB program ?
