Re: ATU-10 has been released

Hi Glenn
Is this link work for you ?
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000677939075.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.7a254c4dHxnan2

Re: ATU-10 has been released

Firmware 1.1 is available for download.
?
1 - the control methot has been reworked, there is no more sleep mode. Now the tuner either shines on the display for 5 minutes after it is disturbed, or turns off after 30 minutes if it is not touched and the transmitter is not turned on. For these 30 minutes, the tuner constantly monitors the power supplied and instantly lights up the display when needed. The current consumption in this monitoring mode is 4 mA.
Long press on the button now turns the device on and off.
?
2 - external control using the Icom protocol is implemented, works in both directions. That is, when the tuner button is pressed, the transceiver automatically generates a carrier for tuning and when changing from band to band, the transceiver initiates tuning by the tuner. When you press the button of external tuner control on the transceiver, the tuner is automatically run if ON or reset if OFF position.
?
Tested on IC-705.

Ok David
I have a lot of experience with smd parts so its not an issue to me, but I was trying to find out what part you actually specified, since the BOM Link did not work.

I have also used the same relay type in the uSDX rig so totally aware of that part and bending the leads to fit through hole.

I have the PCB's on order and they should arrive next week.

One fuse, 2 capacitors and couple resistors you can find on the TP4056 board from Ebay. You have to move them to the tuner board, you are right.
PJ-342 is exist in the BOM, last record in the first list.
The USB socket has the price $0.81 in Digikey, do you think is this expensive ?

Hi, William
I write the schematic directly to PCB layout, copper tracks are the same as lines in a schematic, isn
t it ?

Thanks Kees. I will need to experiment some more with that technique.

Bill,

I have done that several times and just started the design by entering the physical data by hand, no schematic required since you know how you want it placed and wired. You do miss the double check between the schematic and physical data but it works. EasyEDA has no problem with it and the DRC (Design Rules Check) catches all the spacing problems for manufacturing, accidentally tying nets together, or gaps in the net.?

Hi, Glen
That is SMD part wich you can solder on board with trough-hole design. it can cause a brain explosion but just try to do that - it works. Also you can find other compartable 3.5 mm Audio Jack socket and use it , trough-hole or SMD, does not matter.
Relays are using also with SMD nodes and they soldered on trough-hole board design, as you might have noticed.

Me too.? Experience counts.? Protel 99 allows PCB layout with full Library and rule checking and no schematic.

Looks like OwO is becoming disenchanted with us question asking know nothing's.? Locking and then yielding to curiosity is interesting to watch,? Maybe he is just overworked and tired of the free work rewards -? Amusing . . . . .

OK David,

OK on the charger. Does that mean those components to be removed and transferred are not on the BOM>

My BOM list must have been an issue prior, with no socket. . In any case, the Link does not work for me. It it a through hole or smd part? PCB appears to be through hole.

Yes, the USB socket is very cheap but on top of that is the $24 shipping charge to Australia.? No longer 'cheap'.

Interesting approach with no Schematic.? 'Usually' the Schematic is drawn to produce? a Net list, to reduce errors and make it much easier to actually design a PCB. Not to mention aid in trouble shooting if required.

Hi David

I'm curious as to your method of pcb design and layout. Every pcb design program I have tried in recent years expects the starting point to be drawing up the schematic. It has been a very long time since I used one that allowed any other approach. SmartWorks back in pre-Windows days was probably the last I used that that allowed a direct placement method. Others may, as I am far from being an expert with any particular package, hence my question.

I could, but I dont have it. The layout in pdf I can.
You can use existing BOM to convert it to uploading BOM for Digikey.

Seems? a bit strange to have no Sch.?? I'm trying to sort out a few things.

The TP4056 link points to a PCB but it seems one must remove the TP4056 from that board to fit to the ATU-10

On the BOM there are two different types of fuses but the PCB overlays show both to be "F1A". Which is which.

The pcb overlay shows a "PJ-342". What is that??? It doesn't appear on the pictures of your build you posted. Nor the BOM.?? I guess a DC power connector? A search on Digikey for that number finds nothing.

The BOM has two entries for the? 470uF 6.3v cap.

I'm still unable to find the USB-C socket. Apart from an expensive Digikey order.

Could you post a schematic and pcb layout in pdf format?? It would be very helpful in developing BOM for Mouser or Digikey.? Dale KS4NS

Hello, people.
Theese are 2 protected 14500 Li-Ion batteries wich have true 800 mAh capacity,I have checked.
The simple noname cells like Ultratfire have ony 400mAh?despite the inscription 1800, 2800.....mah

Hi, Guido
You are joking :)) uSDX is a thing wich could not to work but it works for some reason.

Re: ATU-10 has been released

> Next design - the QRP 5W SDR transceiver in the same case as this tuner and it will be technically perfect device, unlike uSDX.

Hmm.. I thought we already approached near perfection with the uSDX, but very tempted to see what you come up with to improve it :-)

Great ATU-10 design anyway, congrats.

David

Are there any alternate parts for the USB socket?? ie

USB connector

USB4105-GF-A

2073-USB4105-GF-ACT-ND

I have been able to source all parts except that one, in VK.??

I see mouser and digikey have them listed, but ordering one part from USA with associated shipping costs is totally uneconomic. One item shipped = AUD26 !!
