MCC is an plugin for the mplab ide. It can be installed through the ide environment. It's pretty nice actually because it installs the required code plus headers when you select for example IO ports,

I have not done the diff yet on the firmware but I highly doubt any difference is there. Hardware design is the same and the software supports high power settings. The eeprom values will be different
