Hi Paul, Provided the external PWR/SWR meter is located near the ATU-100 RF-IN, I would expect to see similar SWR readings on the external meter and the ATU-100.
Perhaps just check with a 50 ohm dummy load on the ATU RF-OUT that both read close to 1:1 initially.

Do you mean put a dummy load in place of the antenna?,if so how can it then enter a tuning cycle as swr will be below 1.5-1,can you explain it better please,thanks Paul m3vuv.

Or it can start tune continuously due to high loss and heating components.
I would install cheap trough hole silver mica 250v caps.?

Well now working againe,replaced the damaged cap with a 500v thru hole item,so far all is ok.,would a big missmatch have been the cause,or just crap parts?.73 m3vuv.

ATU-10 in Assembled PCB form
Maybe I'm missing it but I know you can buy the ATU-100 in kit and fully assembled PCB form, but I'm not finding anything similar for the ATU-10 (just the complete ATU-10 in metal housing with display).
I'd appreciate any sources for an assembed PCB version of the ATU-10, thanks.

I assume that you refer to the ATU-100 build. The chip can be
purchased from Electronics stores like DigiKey or RadioSpares.
search for 16F1938? and ensure you get the correct package style.
You will need to fit it and then re-program it yourself.

The markings on the pcb have regard to how the ATU operates - it
wants to receive the signal from the transmitter on its IN
terminals and feed the "matched" signal to the antenna through the
OUT terminals.? The only information that has relevance to correct
operation is that on the pcb. Just make sure you install the end
caps with the so239s to match the legend on the pcb.
Trust us, it is clear and it is definitive. In this instance you
have something in excess of 90 years experience in the form of
Glenn and I advising you.

The markings on the ATU refer to the
ATU itself.????? So 'OUT' is OUT of the ATU. ie TO the
antenna.
With respect, I wonder if you could
write your questions a little better formatted please. It's very

motor controller case with an endcap with 2x so 239 connectors on
it.
A cap blewup on it so had to pull it apart to fit a new cap,the
239's were marked but its possible to fit the endcap they are on
upside down so in effect reversing my markings of ant and rig

??? OUT is TO the antenna

I haven't got a board in front of me to check but convention
would have the input from the transmitter going to the "IN"
connection and the output to the antenna going to the "OUT".
