Re: ATU-10 has been released

I think it's great that Glenn's boards are now available for distribution out of Canada and the EU. That will make them that much more available worldwide considering the postage situation. The guy on ebay was still selling the IM41G relays.....10 for $10.

Re: ATU-10 has been released

If anyone in VE is interested in a board, Glenn has kindly sent me a copy of his v1.2 gerber files. Let me know if you are so inclined, and I will put in an order with JLCPCB or Elecrow.

Cost will be (total cost of boards)/(# of boards ordered) + padded envelope cost + Canada Post cost. It looks like I can also ship stateside if Kees runs out of boards. Padded envelopes are 'non-standard' according to Canada post...

Re: ATU-10 has been released

For EU members, the postage for a single board is ?1.70.? I may be able to keep below 100g for max 3 boards.?

Thanks so much!

Is anyone doing another run on PCB's in the US?? I'd like to get this started!

Re: ATU-10 has been released

Hi, Glenn has kindly sent me the gerbers.? I will be placing an order in the next?few days.? If I order the minimum 5 pieces I will have 4 spare for UK constructors.? With postage they will be about ?2 each to UK addresses.? If I have enough interest to order more the shipping from China can be shared, bringing the cost down.

Understand of course that the PCB's are traced from an original N7DDC board and modified to use easier to find and place, parts. ie no warranty.

If you are interested please message me directly.??

Is somebody has drowned a schematic for this tuner ?

?Marek,

Kees says #22 or #24? AWG is what he used.?? It's not a measure in 'mm'

#22 AWG is ~= 0.6mm
#24 AWG is ~=0.5mm

I used 0.5mm on the toroids and a slightly thinner gauge I had in the junk box, for the SWR bridge.

Re: ATU-10 has been released

You are correct. All my archaic spools of wire are labeled with the archaic AWG sizes.

I expect he means AWG sizes. It's one of the more archaic units that is still in use. Attempting to do actual physics calculations with AWG spirals into unreadable spaghetti so fast that the current academic EE standard is to just convert to/from diameter at the start/end of any math. It's sort of a shame that we still use it. Anyway, here is a table:

Re: ATU-10 has been released...boards

Edited

The boards designed by Glenn, VK3PE, arrived today.

?

These boards are have identical circuitry to the David Fainitski, N7DDC, boards EXCEPT:

1) Glenn's board uses the same PICs but with different packaging and footprints. A 44pin QFP is used for the main PIC and a 14 pin
? ? SOIC is used?for the second PIC. Both of those PICs are available today from Mouser and Digikey. The 5mm QFN parts David
? ? specified are difficult to find today with the worldwide shortage (except in China) and will probably be available later this year or
? ? maybe?next year.
2) Glenn's board has a USB-Micro connector footprint added in addition to the USB-C connector footprint so you can use either.
3) Glenn's board has "tabs" on the side to adjust the width so it fits in several extruded aluminum enclosures. AS-IS fits in a 100mm
? ? x 88mm enclosure (like the uSDX Triband Transceiver). Trim the "tabs" to the first line and the board fits in a 100mm x 82mm
? ? enclosure. Trim the "tabs" off to the?second line the board is the same size as David's ATU-10 board and fits in a 100mm x 71mm
? ? enclosure. Is that a cool idea Glenn had or what ?
4) You would be responsible for all the rest of the parts needed. The IM41G latching relays are still available on ebay for $10 for 10 :
? ? 10pcs IM41GR 5-1462037-4 Signal Relay 2A 120VAC 3VDC SMT 8 Pins
5) You get the pleasure of building your own ATU.?

Boards are available from me for $5 postpaid in the USA and shipped in a "Non-Machinable Postage" envelope. Overseas postage is outrageous and much higher. Send me a private email if you want one.?

Re: ATU-10 has been released

Thanks Kees,
As for PIC programming, it's all clear, I managed to buy PIC16F18877-I/MV:
Maybe someone will need it:

As for the coil winding wire, I understand you meant the diameter:
0,22mm- 0,24mm

Re: Anyone with pcb with soldered SMD? Or kit for sale? #ATU-10

If you don't mind a larger case, then an 18650 would be Ok. The 14500 cell is AA sized and fits on the ATU-10 PCB and in the case.? Charging time would be quite long though.

Re: Anyone with pcb with soldered SMD? Or kit for sale? #ATU-10

To be honest, I'd prefer it came without cells over the inclusion of an Ultrafire/Trustfire garbage cell. I do wonder how this could be made to work with a single high-quality 18650 or 21700 as those have a much higher watt/volume than 14400 cells, and are fairly inexpensive due to economy of scale.

Re: ATU-10 has been released

Marek,

Glenn just answered on the "ATU-10" thread. It really is neat how David Fainitski, N7DDC, designed the ATU-10 to only require programming the PIC 16F1454 and that code links to the PIC 16F18877 main microcontroller to load programs using your PC USB port for the initial firmware and future firmware changes. WAY better than the ATU-100 implementation with the PIC 16F1938.

Wire size of #22 or #24 is fine. I happen to have a junkbox spool handy of #22 for the BN43-1502, so I used that..

Hello NI7NE,

I wouldn't be surprised, but it may be only one battery vs two since they are in parallel.
