ATU-100 reads power output high

Recently acquired new ATU-100 (AliExpress). ?All functions seem to work appropriately with the exception of the power output reading. ? Knowing the input watts is 50, the ATU will reads 60-70 watts o/p. ?With input of 70-80 watts, the ATU will register 100+ watts o/p.
Question for the group: is this a firmware related issue. ?If so, what cells need to be altered to what value to bring this ATU into line?
I know how to connect the Picket 3 and assemble the programmer files. ?The mfg of this ATU has glued all the jumper cable connections, so it is not a trivial experience removing the glue and reconnecting the sockets. So, before I begin to ¡°excavate¡± the connections, I thought I would try to confirm this is a firmware issue.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: "Compiling" source for my ATU-10

Re: I redeisI redesigned the PCB motherboard and schematic diagram, and rewritten the program.ng

Hi Marc,
I think it is useful to be able to update the parameters without having to re-flash the device. Menus are okay, but they can become a bit of a pain if you have to navigate with say just one button. I agree graphs are nice to have, but not essential.
I modified my ATU100 to allow readback and control of L, C, Csw and Read/Write of all 256 EEPROM locations via WiFi/MQTT.

Edited

Any thoughts on the menus or ability to change device parameters (cells) without flashing?

Graphs are a nice to have, but not necessary right?

"Compiling" source for my ATU-10

How do I "compile" the source code (by David Fainitski) into an .hex file for the ATU-10?
In fact I have the impression the power and swr meters are off.
?
I would anyway love customising the control software besides, editing the .hex numbers and then recalculating the checksum, but I realise the Arduino IDE is not appropriate for the microcontroller used.
?
May I then ver kindly ask you to point me towards the right direction or resources?
?

Re: ATU-100 alternate radio tuning question

As long as you don't remove power, I believe the ATU-100 will retain it's last tune indefinitely. If you had the tuner in 'Auto' mode, this would be the exception...

ATU-100 alternate radio tuning question

If I tune an antenna with the ATU-100 and a 50 watt radio, can I remove that radio and hook up a QRP radio in its place without re-tuning.

I¡¯ve heard that the ATU-100 will not tune with less than 5 watts, and I¡¯m trying to figure out a workaround for my QRP radio.

Re: I redeisI redesigned the PCB motherboard and schematic diagram, and rewritten the program.ng

Hi, where it is possible to download schematics, gerber files and source code ?

The fully future menu with only one multifunction button ? I gave up that idea couple years ago. My perfectionist said NO.?

ATU 10, Display losing pixels when tuning?

I have an ATU-10 bought from Banggood. All seems good with the construction and function except it appears that when tuning RF is messing with the display and turning pixels on / off that shouldn¡¯t be. This happens during tuning and with both versions 1.5 and 1.6 of firmware. ?Anyone else seen this happen or fixed this problem? ?As I said the tuner works fine and cycling the power resets the display. It is annoying that the display gets hard to read after a few tunes.?

Re: I redeisI redesigned the PCB motherboard and schematic diagram, and rewritten the program.ng

Hi,
On reflection I guess my post with images of the graphs and manual reads like an ad.

Genuinely posting and responding to N7DDC's reply to post images of the graphs and menu as these differences work really well.

Genuine feedback on the product, the unit works well but have swapped out the surface mount caps for Cornell doubilier silver mica RF caps, which were not cheap from element14 (not meaning to sound like an advert!).
Also replaced tuning diodes with surface mount bat14s just to be sure.

Note that I have messaged BI3QWQ about enabling RA7 tx_request in hopes of modifying it for automated icom ic-718 tuning control - BI3QWQ has been really helpful and willing to assist me in modifying his variant of the source code to achieve it. Will let you know here how it all works out.

Probably nowhere. This is not sharing anything, this is an ad. Just dropped by to say thanks to David for all his hard work and draw customers...

Re: Retuning every time

I just tried it with a TS-130 I have on the bench and it worked fine. ?Thanks for the tip, Dave. ?And thanks Billian for the suggestion about the antenna. ?I'll keep that in mind.

Re: Retuning every time

Ah ha - I was indeed using with a uBitx. ?I'll try it with something else.
(It's acting the same whether it is in Autotune or not)

Re: Retuning every time

Hi Howard, If the ATU-100 is not in auto mode, I would not expect it to retune.
It may be the case if you are using something like a uBITX, there is a burst of splatter when it first keys up from RX to TX which may give a short erratic reading on the ATU. The image below shows the output from my uBITX.

Re: Retuning every time

I had the same issue with mu ATU-1000. While tuning fine with a single tone, it was retuning constantly on the lower part of 40M band and ONLY on LSB. When I switched to USB there was no issue. This prompted me to do an impedance sweep in this part and while resistance was well within range of the ATU, reactance was looking like a steep hill, rising as frequency was going down. When transmitting in LSB the SWR actually rose with my voice and the ATU-1000 was kicked into retuning, and my TRX into ALC power reduction. I thought there was something wrong with my radio, than with the ATU, but after the impedance sweep of the antenna, I realized it was tad short and below 7.110 SWR rose steeply from increasing reactivity. I lengthened the antenna a bit and now all is fine.

Re: Retuning every time

May it isn't retuning. ?Maybe it is just the display. ?When there is a pause in transmission, the SWR readout is high for a fraction of a second and the readout is Tune before showing low SWR. ?I borrowed a friend's and his does the same thing,
Mine is supposed to be version 3.2.
Am I missing something here?
Thanks

Re: ATU-10 firmware 1.6 update difficulty

That¡¯s all it was! ?The cable that came with the ATU was for charging only, not data transfer. ?Unbelievable!

Thanks Donald, it took less than 5 minutes beginning to end, to transfer version 1.6 and all it took was the use of a cellphone cable in lieu of the supplied one.

Thanks again.
Cheers

Re: ATU-10 firmware 1.6 update difficulty

Thanks Donald,
I thought it might be a ¡°defective¡± cable, but I thought since it charged properly, that wasn¡¯t the case.
So, your suggestion is a good one. ?I¡¯ll have to find and try another C to USB cable. ?I¡¯ll let you know what happens when I get a replacement cable plugged in.
Cheers
