An interesting document, Mr n0ywb. Do you have one where the Icom interface legends are readable ?. I can only see blobs and blurs. A higher resolution copy would be useful.

Paul

1. on the ATU press one of the buttons which puts a fullstop at the end of the first line on the screen - Make sure there is no underscore which will put in the bypass mode

2. Turn the transmitter on - but make sure that the carrier is no more then 10 watts

3. The ATU should then tune - you should hear the relays clicking rapidly

4. Once the relay clicking has stopped then turn the carrier off

5. You should be then able to operate

Re: atu-100 keeps reseting

i am not quite getting this,So if after a good tuning cycle do i have to put it into the mode showing the underscore for it to keep using the combination of coils and caps used for a match,ie will it stop it from trying to retune until i change it or power off?,thanks m3vuv.

Re: atu-100 keeps reseting

Is there a period (dot) on the screen? Maybe you have gotten it into Auto mode...

And you might try unsoldering those antennas on B1 and B2.?

What happens if you run, say, 10 watts into it??

Good luck!?

There is no easy answer to your questions.?? Diagnosing problems remotely is difficult at best.

A7 goes high when tuning.? Then falls back to logic '0' (gnd potential)? A6 is the inverse.

Re: ATU-1000 #1KW

Sorry, who said anything about a cheap ATU?? And buying boards and various parts to follow the instructions that are available for an AMP Build isn't difficult.? I don't see any instructions or pre-built kits to build your own? that will support 2.5kw.

Re: ATU-1000 #1KW

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Why would you risk a very expensive amp with a cheap ATU?

I fail to see the logic.
If you have the capability to make a 2.5kw amp, I would have thought you would have the capability to make an ATU.

perhaps I¡¯m being too simplistic.

Re: ATU-1000 #1KW

You'll need to respin the PWB to increase separation between critical traces. Plan to use vacuum relays and capacitors with at least 7.5 kV ratings for safety margin.

You're essentially looking at lightning in a box.

Re: pin values

The bypass caps need to be on the board. Otherwise, there is no point to adding them, as the switch wires are essentially antennas.

Hi Paul

B1 switch is a spring loaded press button which puts the atu into automatic operation - it just needs one press which which will put the atu into automatic operation which will indicate by a dot at the end of the first line on the screen - if you press the button again it will go out of auto operation - all it is doing is quickly earthing the pin to ground - when in automatic mode you can then put the transmitter into tune mode with a max of 10 watts - the atu should then go thru its sequence to get the best swr. then turn the tune mode on? the tx off

B2 bypasses the atu - same type of button switch as B1

?the way you have the the b1 and b2 wires just dangling would indicate that you are getting rf into the PIC - You need to put a 100n capacitor to ground as per the diagram

I have two of these atus ready built - one of them did not have auto or bypass buttons - to set B1 into auto mode I had to touch the? PIC pin to ground to put it into auto

If you have any further questions - let me know your phone number and I can ring you - my mobile phone plan has free call to uk
