Re: AT-10 Random Errant Pixels and Lock Ups.

I can only throw this into the mix; the only time I ever saw stuck pixels on the display was when I used my Apple Mac worksation to update the firmware. I now use a Windows VM and I've never had a problem since.

Anyway, hope you get it sorted out as the tuner has been great (I did build mine myself using good components so if you purchased a ready-made version from TOSOTW then anything goes I suppose...)

AT-10 Random Errant Pixels and Lock Ups.

I have a new ATU-10 that mostly works great, but the static pixels, those that aren't updated on each transmission, randomly turn on over a period of time.
I considered RF in the box and made sure I had a good ground, no joy. So I modified the firmware file to never turn off or sleep and left it on with no transmissions. Still have random pixels turning on.

It will also on occasion lock up where it won't display the power during transmission or initiate a new tune cycle when needed. The fix is to power it down and back up.
It has happened on both v. 1.5 and 1.6. Going to try 1.4 next.

Has anyone else run into either of these problems and found a solution?

Thanks,?
Randy, N4OPI

Change Turn on Press Timer

Is there a place in the .hex firmware file to change how long you need to hold the tune button in order to turn the ATU-10 on or off?
I would like to be more like 1 sec vs. 3 sec.
If not, can this be added in a future release? Like the abilities that were added to v. 1.6.

Thx,?

Re: #atu-100 Unit has gone noisy. #atu-100

Hi

From the text I assume that it is an ATU bought from the Chinese, with a built-in internal battery.
The noise may come from the battery charging unit. If you can, isolate that unit and feed it directly through the 5V regulator.

My ATU-100 has all of a sudden turned into a noise generator.? It's spewing noise across the entire 3 MHz. to 55 MHz. spectrum so far as I can see by looking at the waterfall on my IC705.? It's not the same level everywhere but seems to increase from the lowest level on 80 m. to the highest on 6 m.? On 80 m. the noise is maybe 10 dB. above the system noise floor and on 6 m. it's in excess of 30 dB. above.? What I mean by system noise floor is the observed noise level with the ATU-100 connected but with power switched off.? When I switch the power on, only on its internal battery and no external connection on the USB, the noise jumps up like crazy.

I don't remember this being the case when I received the unit new, but it went through a strange tuning attempt once on 6 metres and after that this noise has appeared.? I lifted the top cover off the have a look around but didn't see anything burned or otherwise obvious.? There has never been any RF in excess of 100 W applied to the unit.

Apart from this noise, the unit appears to function OK, it will tune as well I'd expect both in auto and manual tune modes.

Anybody else with this problem?? Any ideas where to look and/or known fixes?

Thanks & 73,

Hugo , ve3ktn.

Hi.?
Replace that 5 volt regulator or check what is wrong with it. That is the interferences source.?

Re: bias t

Hi, Paul
Ceramics type should be NP0 or X7R kind for ceramics capacitors or silver mica, 250 Volts or higher.?
The inductor should be with high Q on 30 MHz and does not have selfresonance in 0 - 30 MHz range.?
It is preferably to connect 2 inductors in series, 1 with selfresonance around 60 MHz and second around 20-30MHz.?
But in general one well done choke on 73 ferrite will work good enough.?

Re: bias t

the linked schematic doesent state the cap type,ie film or silver mica etc,any ideas what to use,ie type of caps?,cheers+73.

Re: Atu 100 balanced feed line connector

LDG sells a balanced feedline balun, coax to balanced line, goodfor (I think) 200 watts. Not terribly expensive either

Hi all I have a question: beside the unbalanced (sma pl) connector is possible to add a unbalanced connector??

Re: #ATU-10 - Is bypass option available? #ATU-10

Hi.?
A reset feature is the bypass or not ?

#ATU-10 - Is bypass option available? #ATU-10

Good day everyone,?
just asking if the bypass option is available on th ATU-10. I am not able to find an info on it.

Thank you?

Re: lcd display

Yes but he was asking about 20x04 display

20 characters over 4 lines instead 16 charactes over 2 lines.

Towards the end of that video it shows what I think is a 16 x 04

which works but only uses the top two lines, so there is no beneft to using 4 lines on the bigger display.

So stick to a 16 x 02
