Re: Most Reliable AT-10 Tuner outlets for purchase
#ATU-10
Picked mine up from NewDIYTech.com Good build quality. Prefer my T1 but the ATU-10 is great for the price and availability. Not to mention it¡¯s feature set.? You can see some of my testing here:? |

Hi, Stig
That model has modified PCB. Could you show us what inside ? |
Re: ATU-10 kit or build - newdiytech.com website
Hi Stephan,
I strongly recommend KN5L method, if you are still looking for 6m band make primary connections as short as possible. I tested my repaired ATU-10 with Long Wire antenna in the garden and it worked with SWR below 1.5:1 on all bands from 80 to 10. I am using 9:1 on FT140-43 3x7 turns and 12.5mtr (41feet) wire. The big test will be this Sunday when I plant to use it for SOTA activation on local hill. You never know we might have S2S. I will post results next week. 73 Marek |

Hi Rod.
I have purges the AT-15 variant, but this drains the battery twice as fast in OFF, as when it is ON, so stay away from this model. 73 de OZ3XO - Stig. |
Most Reliable AT-10 Tuner outlets for purchase

Any recommendations for best outlets from which to purchase an ATU-10?
Any to avoid? If any have had relevant experience with one of these and a FT-818 I'm all ears.? Thanks. -- Rod VA3MZD? |
Re: clk and data lines
Yes, it seems very strange, particularly if it was working before the capacitor problem. Check that the MCLR is not stuck low for some reason. I think you will have to validate the EEPROM configuration with the PICkit. Hopefully you will get to the source of the problem.

Re: clk and data lines
i get nothing like that, just a brief spike at turn on and nothing,i have 2 of these both do the same, need to find my pickit3 and read them.one of these is new just the diode caps +vreg+headers fitted, seems dead, bit odd tho, first one was ok untill the cap fried, was still showing data on the display tho when it was disconnected to check over, its very odd.73

Re: ATU-10 kit or build - newdiytech.com website
Thanks Marek, for your information! The KN5L method looks really interesting, maybe I'll try it with a core I have at hand. Some days ago, I received the ATU-10 from the Aliexpress Uptech Store. I checked it on the bench and all seems fine (I didn't even had to open it).? Today I experimented with the ATU-10 on a summit, but to summarize, I wasn't convinced, mainly because of the small tuning range. But also how to quickly mount it on the telescopic pole and other small annoyances that I'm not used to. I have to think about a different setup. |
Re: clk and data lines
Hi Paul,
It should send the initial settings for the OLED and then the startup screen information and then after a short delay the main screen information. After that, the display only gets updated with changes. Examples:
Short press of the TUNE button should update the display with ¡°RESET¡±.
Long press of the TUNE button should update the display with ¡°TUNE¡±.
For a 128x64 OLED the settings I have used are as follows. If you have a Rigol or Siglent oscilloscope, it may have the I2C serial decode features and you should be able to check the I2C interface.
The I2C address 0x78 = 0111 1000 in the EEPROM configuration is the value written to the interface (Read/Write bit-0 = 0).
The slave address is the upper 7-bits = 0x3C which is what is shown on the Rigol oscilloscope (see below). From the code the values on the interface at startup match those seen on the Rigol oscilloscope. ?

Re: cap values
I've also dealt with LCSC for components when I ran a group purchase for partially assembled (tr)u-SDX boards, and DL2MAN bases his BOM mostly on LCSC part numbers. I recall the shipping being relatively cheap and they do seem to have a pretty good selection of parts, as long as you exercise due diligence.
Just throwing it out there as a possible alternative... 73 de Russ, va3rr |
Re: ATU-10: an alternative PCB layout?
OK2MTB.?
Thank you very much for answering my most perplexing question. As for your question, my full-time job is agriculture .Hamradio is just my hobby. My skill level cannot answer your question.
?
When I made the atu-100, the N7DDC had a documentation mentioned. The BN43-1502 winding number determines the voltage entering to MCU at maximum power. I think it has something to do with this information.
?
I think after the arrival of all the parts I bought, I will make two ATU-10, respectively vk3pe version and zao version. If possible, can we discuss further after I have made the object?

Re: cap values
It's a $60 AUD threshhold here in Australia and I received my most recent order within 4 days of being placed, from the US with the final leg being undertaken by Australia Post. Unbelievable service and in stark contrast with the order I received from Element14 (Farnell) yesterday. That was ordered back on 22 February. When I questioned its non-arrival I was advised on 9 March that the parts were ready to be shipped but even then it took a further 13 days to have them actually arrive and that was only from Sydney.

Re: Burned up cap
Hi Paul,
Not sure which firmware you are using, but the EEPROM defaults for the N7DDC software is not set for the OLED display, but if it is a kit, I would expect it should have been updated accordingly prior to shipping. Generally for the OLED display, EEPROM Addr 0x00 = 78 and Addr 0x01 = 05. Yes, the display should work with just the reverse voltage protection diode and regulator fitted, that's how I initially tested the kit I received. Just double check the connections between the ATU and the OLED are correct. 73, Dave |
Re: cap values
I don't know if they normally offer free shipping. What they have is a minimum shipping. Mouser has $7.99 for small orders. When I order small parts this price usually covers the order.
