Re: ATU1000 software ?

Hi Patrice!

That's great to have. Thank you very much! Regards Onno

Hi Ono,

Thanks for the info, yours is a bit clearer than the docs on github.

I bought my tuner from Russia so I am sure than they parts a good quality.

I know that it handles at least 500w OK, as it works very well with my
station, or did until I updated the s/w without taking a copy off the
eeprom data.

I haven't seen the odd behaviour that you are seeing, I seem to have a
different problem, I'll start a separate thread for that.

cheers

Re: Bypass mode behaviour & high SWR on 6m

Hi Tim,

When in bypass or no power the relay is on. It's a true bypass. I will double check tomorrow when at home again but I am 99% sure.?

It could be that the relais are different type from expected? There are normally open and normally closed relays.?

Best regards Onno

Re: Bypass mode behaviour & high SWR on 6m

Yes I have tested it and it is 1:1.3 in bypass for 50mhz.?

Hi all,

I was testing the SWR of my tuner in bypass mode and I found that the
SWR is nearly 2:1 on 6m!

Looking at what happens in bypass mode I see that the relays disconnect
the L & C but the actual bypass relay stays energised.

The bypass relay only goes off if I remove power. SWR on 6m with no
power is a more reasonable 1.3:1

Does anyone else have this issue ?

Is it "normal" behaviour for the bypass relay to stay energised when the
power is on regardless of settings ?

Has anyone else tested the SWR of their tuner on 6m ?

thanks

Re: ATU1000 software ?

I just compared the two schematics and as far as I can see the layout is the same. No difference regarding pic control pins to the L & C relays. To me it makes sense that the larger versions are just larger and the control is the same.?

I believe the following values are important to consider;

cell 03 -> timeout cell -> default is 15mS and on my unit the relays are a bit slower. I have changed it to 25mS. Better safe than sorry
cell 05 -> min power to activate, by default this is 5 watt however for the 1KW version you have enabled cell 30. Hence the value you provide here is multiplied by 10. I would set cell 065 to a value of 01. (which means 10W activating)
cell 30 -> value 01 (activate)?
cell 06 -> max power 110 (translates to 1100 Watts)
cell 10 onwards -> the 1KW version uses different L values
cell 20 onwards -> the 1KW version uses different C values
cell 31 -> tandem match turns -> it should be provided by the supplier. I dont remember the number of turns.?

My version has two potentiometers where forward and reflected? can be adjusted as well.?

I have changed the setup from 1KW to 100Watts.? I don't use an amplier and my max output is around 110 watts. So I have changed the bridge to match the ATU-100 turns and change the PIC configuration to match it.

Once I get the C compiler running I will change a couple of things in the program. I would like to use the tuner as a true remote unit and I want to ensure auto tuning (always) as well when I switch off / on the power I want the tuner to come back with initial state. I don't want it to remember the setting. What? I have found so far; when you remove the power the tuner falls back into bypass mode. Which is good.? When you apply the power (assume auto tune is activated) it will recall the last setting and move from there. Which sounds good. However....

I can not explain when tuning a random wire on for example 24Mhz and SWR is about 1:1.6 followed by a bandswitch to for example 18Mhz for whatever weird reason the auto tune does not activate. Even though the swr is worse. When I reset the tuner the tuning sequence starts and the 18Mhz frequency after tuning get to a very low swr of about 1:1.2. I am not sure why this happens but I guess it has to do with complex impedance the the swr bridge not able to recognize the difference.? I did not dive into this topic yet but operational experience shows that there is a very different outcome when the tuner is put into reset after switching bands.?

Best regards,?

Re: ATU1000 software ?

Hi Tim,

I have atu-1000 too. I can send you a hex file. What kind of display do you have and what settings do you prefer??

To my knowledge (I am still verifying schematic) the hardware is the same. Just different PCB layout with bigger components.

I lost the original 1000 firmware too. Silly mistake while copying the pic memory.?

So it should be the same firmware except for eeprom settings (different bridge setting as well the power multiplier setting). The rest is very similar as far as I can judge at the moment. Not sure if you want / need to change the threshold when swr is measured (minimum power). You can set the maximum the should to receive a warning.?

A concern I picked up from other folks; the cores provided by some suppliers are poor quality and the Q factor is very very low. Which means the cores get saturated very quickly when high power is applied.? It would be good to measure the Q factor.

Hi Rolf,

You are right for the atu-100 however the atu-1kw has also potentiometers to adjust forward and reflected voltages. My bad not sharing this.

Thanks and regards Onno

Programming & compiling from github source code

Hi,

I hope someone can provide some initial bootstrap advice. I am running MLAB X with the C compiler environment. Cloned the github repository and created the project. Imported the header files and the c files and to my understanding it should be possible to compile using those files. However it seems some files are missing or at least some references are not available. I am very rusty on C programming and perhaps it is just me not understanding. However it could also be that the github repository is not complete?

Thanks for advice and regards, Onno

Re: Initial alignment procedure

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

My tuner worked immediately there are no alignment procedures. If you use a swr meter on the transceiver side of the atu you will see whether it is working correctly - it should though. You need to check solder joints, whether toroids are wound correctly etc. If it doesn¡®t

Re: PIC16f1938 and changing eeprom

Today I have received the pickit 4 and it really works well on Linux. Just unfortunate it is needed to change a few parameters within the eeprom.?

I'm going to investigate over the next couple of Weeks the following;

1-tuner efficiency
2- how to implement key sequence to adjust eeprom settings without the need for an expensive programmer device.?

If anyone is undecided about budget 14500 cells, here's a site that may help a little. I was able to find the Soshine 14500 (white-yellow) with solder tabs on Aliexpress...

Re: ATU-10 has been released

Hi all
I'm just curious, any place in FW to implement additional functions ? Like showing frequency on the display or memory to store already tuned frequencies?

Re: PIC16f1938 and changing eeprom

Hi, Onno
You can install Microchip XPE, there is a Linux version.?
You can install also a Windows as a second OS on your PC.
Or you can run a free Windows PE based on Win 10 temporary from flash drive.
