KJ4ERJ - Silent Key

My deepest condolences again! Lynn was such a great contributor to the APRS community over the years!

Paul,
?
My condolences to you and the family. Despite only knowing Lynn through his contribution to radio hobby, I can say was an engaging, enthusiastic innovator and a steady guide with his knowledge and experience. I lost my dad when he was just 61 in 2019, so I have a sense of the loss you are beginning to experience. May he always be remembered and await our reunion just around the bend.

Hi Paul,
I am so sorry that you lost your Dad.? I was really shocked to learn of this. I wanted to thank you for sharing your Dad with us all.? He created an amazing piece of software and a really nice community.? ?My son and the scouts in his troop really enjoyed learning about APRS using the software that your Dad developed.? We had many great adventures and memories with this program over many years in the outdoors.? I hope that someone will keep this legacy in your Dad's memory going as it is a really wonderful tool and community that he created and shared freely with all of us over so many years.? What a gift.? Our family will keep him and you and your family in our prayers this Christmas.??
Sincerely,
Anthony Mascola

My deepest condolences to you and your family, Paul.? Your dad made a significant contribution to the ham radio community and I'm sure his influence was not limited to that.? We are praying for you all as you go through the motions and emotions.
?
Kind regards,

I have been reeling from this sense I first read it last evening.?

So sorry for the families loss. Lynn was always willing to help via private email, group email, APRS Messaging, or even a phone call... He was a force in the APRS community as I'm sure he was in everything he did in his life. He was always a positive and supportive leader in the hobby...?

I know that I will be doing my best to step up my contributions to help the APRS foundation because of his example.?

Adam

I have a vague memory of Lynn saying he was looking at UIView with his son when he decided to write what became APRSIS32 - maybe it's on the website - not sure. I think it was in the 2010 time frame when I read it. If that was you, thanks for helping inspire him!

I was really surprised and disappointed to read the news. Then I looked up his age - 64. Wow, I'm 64. I'm grateful for Lynn's willingness to not only code a great app but also support it actively. He will be sorely missed. I never met him in person, but I expect he was a fun and interesting guy to be around.

I have had many chats and emails with Lynn throughout the years. His quick response to questions were second to none. He was a great person and will be missed greatly. May he rest in peace.?

So sad a passing of a great man. Besides creating a program of what enabled me to get into APRS (I never could get other programs to work), I was always impressed Lynn devoted much time answering questions from newbies to experts.
RIP Lynn

I'm in a state of shock. I'm not even sure what to think. I still have tears in my eyes, so I will keep this short.

I was just on our monthly APRS Foundation executive team call with John Tarbox (WA1KLI) and John Langner (WB2OSZ). John T. got a phone call from Lynn's wife with the news.

He was one of the nicest people I've ever met, and I considered him a great friend!
