Re: APRS

Well, USB->Serial dongles are inexpensive and work fine.? Any PC can have a serial port.

I have two digital systems here in the Shack.? One uses an old MFJ 1278T TNC and the aforementioned USB dongle, along with APRSIS32 software to act as an iGate, and the other uses Direwolf on a Raspberry Pi as the TNC for several apps including YAAC, LinPac, and Pat (winlink).? By far the hardware TNC is easier to set up, but the software TNCs do a better job at decoding imperfect signals.

sound card interfaces such as internal sound?cards, Signalink, DINAH or Master's Communication cards are typically used.

What all do I need to be able to copy APRS signals.

I'm old school here when we had to use TNC's and such.
