Dear AAMG colleagues, This request is targeted at folks working in Marketing/Communications. Does anyone have experience working with a consultant/agency on a marketing study? We are interested in taking a deeper dive into our community¡¯s demographics and visitor motivations and would appreciate recommendations of who to work with. I could imagine it might involve surveys and focus groups with final recommendations for a marketing strategy to expand our audience and increase impact. Any recommendations, reports or advice you¡¯re willing to share would be greatly appreciated. Field Trip Registration System - Looking for Recommendations 3
Hello, everyone! For those of you who host K-12th grade school groups, we are on the hunt for a new field trip registration system. We currently use a combination of Microsoft Forms for our requests intake, an Excel spreadsheet to process the info, and Outlook to book rooms and educators. Not ideal. If you have a system that you¡¯ve used in the past that you like (or even just didn¡¯t hate), I¡¯d love to hear about it! We¡¯re hoping to launch a new system in time for fall registration, so all any ideas would be greatly appreciated. The biggest need is having a viewable calendar of which dates are still available for teachers to select from. If the system can combine our program options with room availability in this calendar, that would be amazing. All the other features are cherries on top ? Thank you for your recommendations! Clearing image copyrights for catalog 4
Hello Dear AAMG¡ª I wonder if anyone has any recommendations for folks or services that do the work of clearing image copyright for commercial publication? LUAG is working on a catalog of 100 works from our collection in honor of our 100th birthday. Our World: Traveling Photography Exhibitions
Earth Day is coming soon, reminding us of the urgency needed to protect our planet. art2art offers several exhibitions focused on the environment. David Ellingsen's Life As We've Known It sheds light on endangered species. First Fleet highlights the explorers who would see Earth from space, a view that gave many a sense of the planet's vulnerability and a fervent desire to protect it. Our Ansel Adams exhibition showcases the work of an environmentalist who would inspire generations to conservation. DIGNITY speaks of the importance of protecting indigenous people who are directly affected by climate change and other environmental perils. Visit art2art.org for more information or email lindsay@... ?Life as We've Known It Through 30 elegant monochrome portraits of the planet¡¯s other-than-human species, this exhibition evokes messages of contemplation, urgency and hope in response to the escalating biodiversity crisis. Canadian photographer David Ellingsen's images represent species facing a population decline. The inclusion of a few success stories communicates the importance of individual action. First Fleet: NASA's Space Program 1981-1986 The First Fleet project began more than 30 years ago with the launch of the first Space Shuttle Columbia in 1981. NASA granted artist John A. Chakeres permission to photograph operations at the Kennedy Space Center. Ansel Adams: Early Works Ansel Adams was a giant in the field of landscape photography. At 17, he joined the Sierra Club, uniting in a mission to save wild places. He became an important activist for several conservation groups and lobbied congress members on behalf of land preservation. DIGNITY: Tribes in Transition Environmental justice is especially critical to indigenous people, who are disproprtionately impacted by changes to ecosystems. Dana Gluckstein spent three decades in the Americas, Africa, Asia and the Pacific documenting indigenous communities. The resulting exhibition and book, DIGNITY, helped create a turning point for the Obama administration to adopt the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples ¨C a historic milestone. The statement has empowered a worldwide movement of Indigenous Peoples to assert stewardship of the land, water and air.

upcoming deadline for CFP for SCSC session sponsored by the Society for the History of Collecting
CFP: Histories and Afterlives of Renaissance Collections Society for the History of Collecting-sponsored session for Sixteenth Century Society Conference (October 30 ¨C November 1, 2025) https://www.sixteenthcentury.org/conference Deadline: Submit your proposal by April 10, 2025 by email to americas@... (see below for details) Recent scholarship on the afterlife of objects presents ways by which Renaissance art underwent transformation, providing new meaning for new audiences. Albrecht D¨¹rer¡¯s drawing of hands placed closely together is seen widely today as a symbol of prayer, for example. Can the same or similar transformation be said for Renaissance collections? Early modern studies generally highlight the importance of patronage and the patron-artist relationship in the cultivation of collections. What has not been addressed fully is the afterlife of a collection. This session seeks to provide a new understanding of early modern collections and their receptions. Some questions and subjects to consider include: How did well-known art and science collections shape future collectors and collecting practices? How has the collecting of Renaissance art affected the scholarship of sixteenth through eighteenth-century art? Global collections during the long sixteenth century Museum exhibitions of private collections ¨C 2024 saw museum exhibitions devoted to private collections, including ¡°Masterpieces from the Borghese Gallery¡± at Mus¨¦e Jacquemart-Andr¨¦. How might such exhibitions influence collecting practices and/or art market? MFA Exhibition Asking too much 31
Hi Listserve Friends! Although we are not a student gallery, every year, the University Galleries host both MFA and BFA exhibitions. And every year we have students who want to push boundaries. That¡¯s what artists do! I don¡¯t know if I am getting old and curmudgeons, or if I am brewing a cold¡ but I need your advice on this one. One grad student wants to bring in 50lbs of dry corn deer/turkey feed and 50lbs of rice, 50lbs¡ you get the gist of it. As a collections care person, in the state of Florida, all I can thing about is ¡°how long before the rats, mice and roaches find out I have food for them right here in the galleries, and how long will it take me to get rid of them once they are in?¡± In the other hand I am thinking will a one month exhibition really give rats enough time to take hold (probably¡ it¡¯s Florida, there might even be a raccoon sleeping on top of the pile the same morning we put the corn out.) on the other hand: artist integrity. Help me calm down. Should I care? Should I shellac individual corn kernels? Will the rats care about shellac? As an artist myself, I remember rats nibbling on paper shoes I exhibited in a NY gallery. Since it was a Cinderella piece, I thought it was hilarious¡ but also ewwww!!!! As a collections manager, I am afraid of inviting pests in my space for the future. I seek your advice on whether my worry is justified or not. Content Policy for Public Spaces 2
Hi AAMG! I would be interested in seeing any examples of policies on content limitations for artwork that are exhibited in public spaces. One of our three galleries is a shared space. It also serves as a lobby for our theaters. As curators we are mindful of selecting pieces that are resilient to potential touch, light and friendly to the space. But recently, with our political climate, we have had content concerns, specifically related to children (so plays are meant for young audiences). Nothing major, just questions we are wrestling with internally so far, but we want to be responsive rather than reactive with forming a policy to guide us. Do you have such policies specifically for public art installations or public exhibitions. I want to be clear, we¡¯re not discussing inside the museum, but installation in the lobby. And maybe the answer is just a parental advisory warning (this is what we did when we welcomed holocaust posters from the holocaust memorial museum which had violent content for example). I have a draft and AAM guidelines, but the advisory board wants to see comparables. Bonus point if you are in Florida. Thank you for any material you may be able to send for this research!
