There is a Bio for Marie Brae on Silkworth.net and it has a statement that struck me. It says their is evidence in the Akron Archive that Marie ‘may have written the first draft of To Wives’ which Bill then edited.? Is this true, or not true. If it is true can it be published so the record is straight. Current Lore says Bill wrote it.? My thought has been he may have wrote it but we dont the circumstances. Who might have helped him, where got his sources etc. if there is evidence about the writing of To Wives Id like to read it.

I suggest Chapter 18"To Wives"--page 347 of "Writing the Big Book: The Creation of AA," by Bill Shaberg. Marie is mentioned on page 350

Here is a link to 55 speaker tapes from Clarence. I'd love to use this thread to discuss anything and everything about him.

I hope the people are staying safe right now and care of themselves and their families and their significant others. we're going to get this group popping it's just I know a lot of us are distracted right now we have to make sure we're all okay first before we get into the fun stuff. However, when you're ready, let's rock out on Clarence Snyder to kick things off!

Re: Clarence Snyder

Wow! What a great treasure trove of tapes. Thanks.

And as for Clarence, I am sure there are mixed emotions now as there always have been about him.

Bob K. Can correct me if I remember this wrong from one of his writings but I think it was Clarence's friend and biographer Mitch K. who said that "some hated him like poison while others just hated him regular."

I look forward to learning some history..

Thanks Thom and be safe all

Tradition 3

Hello.

Does anyone know the name and the story of the first example used in Tradition 3?
“Not long after the man with the double stigma knocked for admission…”?
For the clues in his story, I think it may be Lloyd Tate.?

Thanks in advance

Just letting you know I haven't vanished, I've just been dealing with a minor health issue. I do plan to continue
to work on the files really soon and if anyone has any idea of anything they want to add to the files archive, anything rare or interesting, things that we could then perhaps then talk about, I would really appreciate it. I know that we all would. The potential is here to make this forum extremely interesting, intriguing and fun. And if we all work together, I truly believe that that is exactly what will happen.

Locked Re: Donations sticky

Jim, that is really good. Would you be willing to head up the ad hoc on this? You're doing a great job already. I'm happy to start a chat room or you could start a thread and I'll make it sticky while you collect any brainstorms on the matter? I just have a feeling that as a group we would write one heck of a mission statement!

I will chip in $20 myself for the first year and when we collect $200 I will turn on premium and we will start building a file Library and other things that premium will let us do.

Sound good??
