Many felt the draft does not have enough talent in it. However, many of you last year asked to increase keepers from 10 to 12. Guess what that did to the draft depth? :)?
?
Some feel it is not easy to rebuild a team in this format. I couldn't disagree more, but we all have our opinions. Again, I'm putting to vote ideas that do not totally change the concept of this league.?
?
I have officially decided to contract from 24 to 22 teams. I have been trying hard to fill the last two spots but would rather keep us at 22 dedicated managers than stretch to 24 with a couple of questionable ones. This will also help address the 'weak draft'. So, the White Sox and Brewers players will become part of the upcoming draft. Their AA players will return to the AA draft as well.
?
I've left usage alone at 110%. I am going to make a change regarding playoff usage in all my leagues where I will create a single LZP for the entire playoffs and keep adding the series as we progress. I'll use a 20% usage factor for the entire post-season, rather than 10% per series. This will make it much easier for everyone in that we will not have a new LZP each time and have to re-do CMs completely.
?
I have also put limits on the AAA players as shown in the rules. No limits last year caused a 'player-shortage' of sorts because many teams stashed away some usable players with lots of usage. This will help with usage.
?
I have also added the ability to trade draft picks, with limitations. This was another thing most managers seemed to want.
?
Here are the items we are voting on.?
?
1. Players protected on our ML Roster - This year we are using 12.?
? ?a)12,
? ?b) go back to 10?
?
2. Draft order for regular draft - This year we are using WAR
? ?a) Reverse order of finish (change)
? ?b) lowest WAR values (current rule)
?
3. Draft order for minor league (AA) draft - Winning vote will be used this year (last year it was random)
? ?a) Reverse order of finish (change)
? ?b) lowest WAR values (current rule)
?
Please consider your answers before submitting and only vote ONCE. I will allow voting through Sunday night, 11/10 and make changes to our rules as required the next day.
?
If Item #3 (a) wins, I will move up the date for announcing AA protects and schedule the AA two-round draft (max) this month. Currently, the order is by WAR, so I would need to wait until all ML protects are announced to determine the order. If (a) wins, I will already know the order and can begin the draft.
?
Looking forward to a great upcoming season!

1. A 12
2. B WAR because too many injuries and teams change a lot year over year. So war evens it out
3. A reverse order of standings?

I¡¯m not sure where to look for the AA for each team.?
Also, will there be a list of the players available in the regular draft once the protects are made?

I apologize, that was not meant for everyone.? It might have been a bit condescending so I especially apologize to the other owners.

Switching over to StratDraft

Regarding this move, it was not a decision I took lightly. Mr. Flory has been unresponsive to requests for help for weeks now. I don't know if he is okay or not, or just has an attitude (which is normal for him), but in either case, we were not getting the support we needed. This site was going away very soon, as Nick himself has admitted, and I inquired about buying it from him and he was not interested in selling it. It was time to make the move. I am trying to build the best league I can without the help of that site.
?
Some managers in the leagues I run have dropped out or are considering dropping out because they either don't care for SD, or they are loyal to the Flory site. I'm trying to manage these leagues and find replacement managers where necessary.
?
If you are strongly considering leaving the league because of this, PLEASE LET ME KNOW TODAY.
?
I don't want to find out a little at a time and continuously have to post league openings.
?
This is what you can expect for this coming season and beyond.
?
SD provides current YTD MLB stats for your team (same as Flory) at the bottom of the 'View Competition' option. You can look at all the teams in the league this way.
?
We are using IO Groups for league communications, which arguably is better than what we had with Flory because you can always go back and view past messages in one common place.
?
We are using Google Sheets instead of an Excel spreadsheet now. This allows you access to it at any time with current up to date information and is accessible through your cell phone as well. No downloading required. I am also providing YTD MLB stats on this sheet as well for all MLB players. I am putting as much info on this sheet as possible, so it's one-stop shopping. If you have any suggestions, I'll gladly listen.
?
If you are not sure you want to come back, please reply here, or email me privately at deerparkmets@....
?
If you are happy and staying in the league, you don't need to respond.?
?
Thanks,
Ken

League Update

I now have managers for 22 of the 24 teams. I have a guy who'll let me know today about taking over the Houston team. I've been doing a ton of advertising and will have no problem filling the open teams.
?
1. Rule change changes/additions are due by Thursday night, 10/31.
?
2. If anyone has not been able to get on the StratDraft site with their credentials, please let me know so I can resolve the issue.
?
3. Since we are on StratDraft now, I am going to add a tab on the Spreadsheet called 'CALENDAR' with all important dates.
?
4. The deadline for announcing your 12 protects + your AAA roster is 12/31. I have the draft scheduled to start on 2/8. We will progress slowly through the first two rounds then speed it up a bit as usual.
?
5. Feel free to send me any IR Roster players. I will update the spreadsheet accordingly. Please refer to rules about this before submitting.
?
6. I'm not going to keep track of late CM's this year, late results, or auto-played games. If the games aren't completed by the deadlines, and there was no request for an extension, they will be auto-played.?
?
7. Looking for your opinion on using a Google Spreadsheet for our league. I used this last season in two of my leagues. Once I set it up, I send invites to it, similar to this IO Group. Once you have the link to it, save it, and you will have access to the league file on a live basis, as it's updated. It eliminates constant sending out and downloading of the spreadsheet, and the data is always up to date. I also used this last year to show current YTD stats for all MLB players, the same way Flory did. It is also accessible from your cell phone as well. Please let me know your thoughts about this.
?
Looking forward to another exciting season in 2025.
