St Louis SLN goes 1-2 at Washington WAN
Pushed to cloud, files enclosed (too) Game 1: Nationals eke out a 5-4 win, with big thanks to Hunter Gaddis in relief and Shohei Ohtani’s go-ahead dinger in the 8th. Game 2: Washington got to Pete Lambert early and often and outlast St Louis 8-4. The Nationals knocked out 16 hits. Game 3: Tightly played pitcher’s duel. GS Stats
The Rosters tab on GS should be accurate with the MLB current stats now. I'm sure there will be guys I missed that aren't matching exactly with player names in the database I use, such as players like Michael Harris II, Vladmir Guerrero Jr., etc., and players with tildes in their names. I have fixed many of these already. If you see any players who have had appearances in MLB this year that aren't showing stats on GS, please let me know and I'll fix them as well. LZP has been updated in the Cloud today. You can always go to our league in your SOM game and click Cloud, View League Status to see the last time I updated it. Then you can re-download it if necessary.

Cincinnati CIN sweeps 3 at Washington WAN
Pushed to cloud, files attached for those interested Cincinnati comes to town and sweeps the Nationals. (unsolicited editorial – a CF 4 is bad enough, but a 2B 4 who degrades to a 5 when runners are held is a killer…it will be a long season) Game 1: The Reds roared out to a 6-0 lead (Woo would not get out of the 1st hitless in this start), then held off the Nationals for a 7-5 win. Washington made 2 errors and allowed 2 unearned runs. Game 2: Reds struck quickly again; O’Neil Cruz reached and Bryan Reynolds homered. Cincinnati never looked back and Nick Pivetta was on his game, as the Reds coasted toa 7-1 victory. Game 3: Cincinnati scored in the 1st and Ohtani homered leading off for a 1-1 tie until the 5th. JJ Bleday misplayed O’Neil Cruz’s single and Josh Naylor doubled home Cruz to make it 2-1. The Reds broke it open in the 7th thanks to more poor CF play, and a single through a drawn in infield extending their lead to 6-1. Washington attempted a comeback in the 7th, falling far short in the 9-3 loss. Washington takes 2 of 3 from NY Mets
Results pushed to cloud, files enclosed for convenience. Washington started its season and homestand on a winning note, taking 2 of 3 from the visiting NY Mets. HIGHLIGHT: In Game 2, Brian Woo carried a no-hitter into the 9th inning. Oswaldo Cabrera’s single leading off the 9th broke up the no-hitter. Even the X chart was kind considering Woo’s wobbly gloved teammates. Game 1 was up & down—Washington jumped to a nice lead, then Gerrit Cole imploded, only for Washington to rebound for the win. NY took out their frustration in the series finale, walloping Zach Eflin and Marcus Stroman for 9 runs. It would have been more, had Alejandro Kirk not ended the Met’s 9th by lining into a triple play. Hayden Birdsong dazzled with 7 innings of 1 hit ball. A Miracle Occurs
First game in a new league. Let's be clear, I have a bad team. San Diego beats the Cubs 3 to 0. Sean Manaea pitches a no-hitter. Only my second no-hitter ever in 40 years of Strat leagues. Crazy. Two walks and seven k's. Rick Deyerle Jesus Follower Controller Certified Bridge Teacher MBA 804 -971-8349

PLAYBALL
2
Our season is now underway. The April Play Ball file is in the Cloud. Games through 4/30 are due by 4/30. We play our HOME games. Google Sheets (GS) is now the go-to for Rosters. We will no longer use Strat Draft. For any future trades, send and confirm them using the IO Group. Regarding the current stats showing on GS, I'm working on getting everything working correctly. The first issue I had was my source file was changed as far as moving fields around, so I have to re-code my sheet. The bigger problem is the use of the accent characters (tildes) on players names being used this year. I have to make our players names match exactly in order to pull the stats correctly. I'm working on it and hope to have that fixed this week. Good luck to everyone and let's have another great season!

Update
Tomorrow night, Sunday 4/6 is the deadline for your first CM to be submitted. The first Play Ball file will be uploaded Monday, 4/7. To have a deadline without a penalty is useless, so the penalty will be your 7th Round draft pick. If this happens I will also auto-create your first CM. You can push a new one whenever you have a revised one available. 4/6 is also the deadline for roster verification. Strat Draft (SD) will no longer be used. All players shown on Google Sheets (GS) will be official. Current Status Unclaimed teams and no CM in the Cloud - CIN (Doug), OAA (Brook), PIN (Jeffrey), SLN (Tim) No CM pushed - BAA (Leo), BOA (Patrick), HOA (Jay), SFN (David) CM's pushed with errors - NYN (Nevin) - Starter Schedule incomplete, TOA (Tom), missing lineups If you have not yet downloaded the latest patch, please do so. You can find it on the SOM site. I tried to attach it but IO won't let me. Everyone else is good to go.

2025 Stats
Google Sheet (GS) Rosters now reflect the 2025 actual MLB stats. If you see #N/A or blanks in the columns, it means the player name didn't match up with the player name in the file I'm using, or they have not appeared in a game yet this season. If you see any players who you believe are truly missing, please let me know. Sunday night - 1) First CM is due 2) SD no longer used 3) trades will be done announced (and confirmed) via the IO Group

IMPORTANT - Please READ and SAVE this email
2
Sorry about the length of this, but it's important, all the way to the end. If you're in more than one of my leagues, you don't need to read each one. They are basically the same. I'm going to address the common questions I am being asked in all my leagues. I will answer here (save this) so I don't have to reply to each and every manager asking the questions. and also - please join me in welcoming Steven Deyerle to the league as the new manager of the Minnesota Twins! 1) Cloud Numbers - All the codes for Cloud are on the 'Cheat Sheet' tab of the GS. 2) CMs - Are always due on the 6th of the month 3) Games - are always due on the last day of the month. 4) Claiming teams - If you are not familiar with how to claim your team in the Cloud, see the bottom of the RULES tab. 5) Pushing CMs - If you are not familiar with how to push your CM to the Cloud, see the bottom of the RULES tab. You must claim your team PRIOR to pushing a CM. 6) Minimum Usage Requirements - If you have players that do not have at least 60 PA or 20 IP showing in the LZP, they are ineligible and WILL NOT be in the LZP. They are still yours and will show on your GS Roster. 7) CM Requirements - These are the things you must have in every CM a) A complete Starter Schedule for the entire season. This may be changed every month. If you are not aware of how easy this is to do, in the game, highlight your team and click Team, Update CM. Then make sure you have at least 5 starting pitchers listed on the right and click SAVE. Then click Team, Update CM. In the category box select Starter Schedule. Then click Generate and select Even Distribution. Ta Da, done. b) Starting Pitchers should be INACTIVE. Your active roster should be no more than 22 players, which will be position players and relief pitchers. Select Team, Promote/Demote Minor Leaguers to check you are within the limit. c) You MUST have a backup on your active roster for every position. OFs are never a problem because an OF can play any OF position. However, catchers (and SS) are sometimes overlooked. If you have one guy who has C, OF, 1B, 2B, 3B, and SS on his card, technically he could count as your backup for every position. d) You must have at least 2 lineups - 1) vs LHP and 2) vs RHP. Lineup #3 is used for vs reverse LHP, and #4 for reverse RHP. You may use as many lineups as you like, BUT MAKE SURE each one has a player assigned to every position. 8) LZP in the Cloud - I update the Cloud often. To make sure you always have the latest version, click Cloud, View League Status. This will show you the last time I updated it. 9) If you find the players on your roster in the LZP are incorrect and ask me to make a correction, please wait until I do, and you re-download the LZP BEFORE pushing a new CM. If you don't, this will sometimes cause players to drop from your roster. NEVER move players from Free Agents to your team, or anywhere at all. This also causes problems. 10) STRAT DRAFT - SUCKS! I can't even tell you how many hours this site cost me in fixing all kinds of problems with the importing of rosters (something which has to be done every season), guys were drafting players and they were still not showing on their SD roster, and errors appearing on many trades that I had to fix manually....and if anyone noticed, when a trade is made, SD doesn't even include the name of the league on the trade announcement. I brought this up to SD and was told it was a minor issue, and they did not intend to fix it. Effective 4/6 (the day CMs are due), WE WILL NO LONGER USE STRAT DRAFT. Google Sheets (GS) will be the bible for roster information. This means if you have any discrepancies between your SD roster and your GS roster, I must know by then. GS will be used. I will be creating a TRADES tab to track trades. When making trades, you must email the trade via the IO Group, and the other party must confirm it the same way. Next season we will see how everyone would like the league to run going forward. I will tinker with a way to use GS to be able to draft with, or we can use the new and improved Flory site. I have

Update
1) There are still 13 teams that have not claimed their team in the Cloud. 2) First CM's are due 4/6. Make sure you include a complete starter schedule for the entire season. It can be changed. 3) Please double-check your rosters in the game. If you find any discrepancies after 4/6, you will play short until the end of the April block. 4) If you see any discrepancies in your GS Roster, please let me know. At this point, this is for your convenience only. However, I'm considering not using SD at all anymore and using the GS as the master file for rosters. There are a lot of issues with SD, including errors in processing trades, and players who were drafted not always showing up on the SD roster. If I do this, I'll give everyone at least a week to make sure GS and SD match. 5) We will definitely not use SD again next year. It will either be the new Flory site, or a league run on GS. Let's hold off discussion on this until we see what the new site looks like and costs.

Arizona Block
Arizona has some low quality spots that need to be upgraded. We are interested in a 3rd SP type and a DH. We also have Mike Yastrzemski, who is a 1 fielder with max ballpark homers vs righties but play in a pitcher's park. Would like to flip him into an equivialent type bat more suited for home games. We have some excellent AAA players to offer: Alexis Diaz, Trevor Story, Jordan Walker, and Eury Perez, and some de facto AAA players in Kumar Rocker, Adael Amador, Darrell Hernaiz. If your team is retooling a year, let's talk deal.

AAA Draft is complete
Everyone did a great job with this draft. We are just waiting for Pittsburgh's last two picks, and I will close the draft. I just refreshed the LZP in the Cloud. Please review your team for accuracy. The GS is up to date as well. Please let me know if you find any discrepancies. If you have not already, please claim your team in the Cloud. The first CM will not be due until 4/6. You're welcome to push CM's to the Cloud whenever you'd like, but remember that if you make any trades, you'll have to push a new one. On a very positive note, I'm hearing the Flory site is being sold, or has been sold and will continue to run. One thing for sure, is we'll never use SD again

AAA Update
The Cloud file and GS are up to date. 1) The LZP will NOT contain players ineligible players under the usage limitation. Any further questions about 'why my pitcher with 7 IP is not on my roster in the game file', will not be responded to. 2) Rosters on SD take precedence over the GS (although they should match) and the LZP. Just because you may see players available in the LZP, doesn't mean they are available to draft. See #1 3) Any player(s) who should have been eligible to be drafted but does not show as available to draft in SD, will remain unowned until next season. I'm getting questioned about players here and there from several of my leagues, and as I told all of them, once we start the draft, the player pool is frozen. The time to point out these omissions has passed. 4) The left column of the Rosters tab on the GS that shows your team usage for PA and IP, INCLUDES the factor already. The individual player stats shown are their actual, but the team totals are factored. 5) Remember that we utilize unlimited players. If you are having usage issues, pitchers with an ERA of 6.00 or higher, are unlimited. Batters with an OPS of .600 or lower are unlimited. These unlimited players MUST meet the minimum usage requirements per the Rules tab though.
|
HEADS UP
We're almost down to the last two rounds and I see several teams appear to be short on IP. The totals shown on the Rosters tab of the GS already include the extra 10%, so I would think at least 1550 IP should be a target, unless you want to be pulling your hair out in the final two blocks. Don't forget pitchers with an ERA of 6.00 and over are unlimited.

AAA Draft Update
2
A new LZP has been pushed to the Cloud. I'm not going to send an email every time I update the file. If you are in the game file for our league, click Cloud, View League Status, and this will tell you exactly when I updated the Cloud file. I plan on updating it daily throughout the draft if possible. It's currently through Round #19, Pick #4

Strat Draft emails
2
Can any of you tell me when you first noticed the emails stopped? I'm looking for a date/time. I'm working with SD, who is working with their server company to debug what's going on. Determining the time the problem started will help them resolve the issue. You are getting the emails now, but it is a temporary fix. If anyone made a pick yesterday/last night and knows what time it was and noticed the email didn't go out, that would be very helpful.
