Re: CW Greetings
Truthfully, no, VK's don't use a lot of Strine on CW. What would be the point? Nobody understands us even when we speak English :-)
Yes, your example for ONYA would be well understood as the positive usage, as would HOOROO. Except, perhaps by fake Aussies like me, but even we eventually achieve proficiency :-) Hooroo John |
Re: CW Greetings
In "Strine", the national language of "Straya":
Hello = G'day mate Thanks = Onya! Goodbye = Hooroo "Onya" is a bit problematic, as if said with rising inflection, it means "thanks", but if said with a negative inflection, it means "You have just made an inexcusable error, Drongo!" 73 John, VK4TJ, adapting to life in my adopted country of "Straya". |

At DK0SU we could work some stations from Japan: "JA1ZGO" "JA7FTR" "JE6RPM" "JF1SEK" "JH7UHZ" "JJ2JQF" "JR2IOB" "JS6TSE" Conditions on 10 and 15m were fine and during my first shift at the start of the contest, I could also make some QSOs on 160m. We started only this year (with the WAG), after a long pause of 10+ years, as Multi-Operator and we participated in the One Transmitter - Low Power category in CQ WW DX CW. We had two operators using a straight key (Michael/DF7SA and Benedict/DL8BJS), while Manfred/DK7IT used a single-lever paddle and me a dual-lever paddle. With Benedict, DL8BJS we had an operator, who was contesting for DK0SU for the first time. I introduced him a bit to N1MM Logger+ and he did a real good job. I enjoyed to see how well Benedict is copying, even at high speeds. He is still a student and much, much younger than the rest of the crew :) Seen the mix of keys used -- I think DK0SU "served" a wide range of contesters from 15 to 40 wpm. We ended with 108 different entities worked. It was a great fun to meet the crew members in our club's room on the roof of the university. Re: CQ WW DX
Hiro-san,
I had a lot of fun during the CQ WW DX contest. 10m was really good for me as well, especially for EU and North America contacts. Sometimes 100W didn't seem to be enough, but I was still able to make 335 QSOs over the course of the contest (all DX). I only started working CW contests from April this year, so I was really proud of that achievement. 73 -- JP3REM - Bill A1C #4246, CWops #3390 |

This was the first time for me to also operate on 160m, so this added an extra element of joy. As for conditions, with my vertical the far East didn't go to well. I only worked 3 JA's. There were also some on 40 & 80m, but with my 100W it was impossible to get heard as the pile-up for them was crazy. China, Indonesia, Thailand, Laos, also heard and worked. The rest of the planet was fine for me. I have made 871 QSO's and have my first new DXCC in the pocket (Hong Kong) and hope more will follow, also for the members who are on Clublog and participated in the contest so these numbers will grow! 73 de Martin, PE1EEC/PA6DXZL Op 27-11-2023 01:21 CET schreef HIRO, JJ1FXF <jj1fxf@...>: |
CQ WW DX
Hi, A1CLUB members.
HPE this finds you well. How was your CQ WW DX Contest? I participated in the 10m LP category for almost 6 hours each day and the CONDX was very FB to reach all over the world with 100W. Thanks, guys who worked me. Then, It would be appreciated if you could add "A1CLUB" to the club score of WWDX. Note that a single OP can add only one club and Multi OP can add for the number of OPs. HPE to CU on another contests and new year QSO parties. 73/88, // HIRO, JJ1FXF |

Thank you for your work for the A1 Club! It's nice to see that today already 37 of the A1 Club members are in the Club League at ClubLog. For sure, the present results of PA1CW, DL1ZU and of JL1EDB are impressive; but like in CW proficiency: "The journey is the goal" CU 73 Tom DF7TV On Sat, Nov 4, 2023 at 12:04 AM, HIRO, JJ1FXF wrote:
