Re: RandomGram UTC June 23-24

Hi Hiro-san, Hi Tom-san,
this looks like a very interesting event and first slot is Europe friendly time zone :-) ....
Have not tried but maybe should use GHD GN209 BK (@Atsu-san (JE1TRV): Thanks! ).
As I'm running a poor wire antenna 100w max stations I'm happy that solar cycle indeed supported me in having more contacts with Japanese stations. But for this event also local contacts are good so maybe I can contact Tom in Stuttgart on ground wave? :-).?

..... Ohhh.... Just notice this time there is conflict event "HAM Radio in Friedrichshafen 2023".?
--> Happy to meet other A1Club members in Friedrichshafen.... Just drop me a mail.
Planning at least checking Begali, Palm Radio (they will have HAM Radio special edition key) and AGCW (German Telegraphy Club) Hi Hi. ;-) Also JARL should have a booth there.

BTW: Have booked flight to Tokyo this summer :-). Will stay for several weeks (around Tokyo Ham Fair) like last year and hopefully QRV with Japanese Call JJ1QPB (always challenge setting up a portable HF antenna in?東京中区 HI HI). Hope to meet you this summer in Tokyo --> on air or in person :-)

BEST 73 DE DJ1TF/JJ1QPB - Thomas
よろしくおねがいします!

Re: QRS MST

Hi Hiro-san,
I joined late, but could only find one person sending MST on 20m, but they stopped sending before I could try to call. Maybe next week.

Re: RandomGram UTC June 23-24

Thank you Hiro-san!

Well... I will be logged into SKCC-Sked and A1-Chat during the event --
Depending upon the activity, I may not answer requests in the chats instantly -- but they will be read and I'll be glad to contact JA-stations.

It's nice to see more and more stations from Japan being copied in Europe with only 50 Watts or less and simple dipole antennas on the higher bands.

This situation reminds me to when I started with hamradio around 1980 -- using a homemade crystal-controlled CW transmitter with 10 Watts and a dipole on 10m and having my first QSO to Japan. For sure I have been very proud :)

Re: RandomGram UTC June 23-24

Tom-san,

TNX for our last Q as JO1ZZZ/1, A1CLUB official club station, with only 50W. :)

I tried to hear you on last RandomGram, but your SIG was faint and I had no confidence to copy the RG NR. hi

Since I’m trying to invite more JA stations to RG, I’ll QRV on 40m mostly which JA can easily find each other.

But I’ll QSY to high bands occasionally to see if I can hear from EU and US. So PSE QRG at A1-Chat or SKCC SkedPage if possible.

Re: RandomGram UTC June 23-24

Thank you for the info Hiro!

The first RandomGram event has been big fun and I will be QRV for the second one as well.

I will be using a Straight Key (Junker M.T.) and count for that team.

Well -- I just got 100 random groups to be sent and I hope to meet a lot of hams from Japan to be present in the second event

You are right. Also QRS keying sound brings me comfortably falling asleep. hi

Hope to see you next Monday, Bill-san.

Re: QRS MST

I love the idea of MST but often I fall asleep before it starts. 40m should be nice at that time.

QRS MST

Dear A1CLUB members,

We've been promoting QRS AWT - Slow A1CLUB Weekly Test around 7.035 on every Wendsday at 12:00Z-13:00Z.

It seems that QRS contesting is effective for CW beginners and so we'll add our QRS acrtivity to ICWC MST - Medium Speed Test on every Monday at 13:00Z-14:00Z.

I have already talked to ICWC and so no worry to be QRS on MST. hi

We'll be QRV around 7.035 at QRS 15-20WPM on MST or QRG at A1-Chat.

CU next Modday! 73,

Re: JA Contest Calendar

Bill-san,

I also don’t know always what local contests are on going in JA. hi

It is in Japanese but the most effective or good coverage JA contest calendar is the “国内コンテストカレンダー”.

Also Giving Back program on 7.034-7.039 at 7PM JST every evening is FB opportunity for practice, I think.

You can send final after sending RST, QRH and OP NAME if further CW communication is yet a bit difficult to send and receive.

JA Contest Calendar

I am not much of a contest person, but I like to use them for practicing CW. Are there any JA contest calendars like this:

This isn't always accurate for JA contests. For example, they list the KANHAM Contest happening this weekend, but this year's contest happened in April according to the JARL site.

I often hear JA stations calling TEST, but I don't know what contest they are participating in. Is there a local listing website that keeps track of JA contests?
