RandomGram #9

Dear A1CLUB members,

The CONDX is certainly getting better, then I hear a lot from the EU at 08:00Z-10:00Z and from the US at 22:00Z-24:00Z.

Please consider to beam for Japan and have some chat with A1CLUB JA members. TU

Attached below is the INFO about the next coming RandomGram NR9 if you are interested.

--

Welcome to RandomGram Event Nr. 9

Date/Time: Feb 23rd @ 21:00 - 23:00 UTC. That is Friday afternoon/evening for most; Saturday morning for the OC/AS region.

IMPORTANT!
RG #9 is a 2-hour sprint. Each participant will be limited to a TX List of 25 code groups. The object is to transmit each of your groups at least once (one group per QSO), and have all of them logged & confirmed by other operators. You may want to loop through your groups list more than once and make additional contacts to ensure that all are copied and confirmed by other stations. Additional contacts will also continue to earn RX points with each new code group you log.

Teams: Current teams are listed in the Roster & Results message post for this event (see link below). Additional teams are available by request. Team membership is open to all and is completely optional. Operating on a team is no different than otherwise. Team scores are the sum of individual members' scores. If you're interested in joining a team for this event just email your call sign and team preference to [email protected]

Suggested Frequencies: 50-60 kHz above the bottom of non-WARC HF bands, conditions permitting. Elsewhere in the band may prove better depending on your region or QRM from other ongoing events. 7028 kHz is used in some regions.

Suggested Spotting Page: RG participants are invited to use the SKCC SkedPage at (SKCC Members who post or self-spot on the SkedPage-- please be prepared to provide an SKCC style exchange for callers who request it.)

Operating Tips:

- A transmitted group earns 2-points; a received group is 1-point (if accurately transmitted, copied and submitted);
- Work the same stations on the same band multiple times and exchange additional code groups;
- Transmit a new code group with every contact;
- For additional points monitor other stations: log and submit code groups they exchange (SWL/intercept);
- Submit your updated log or list of received code groups to obtain your current score.

For additional operating info see the RandomGram FAQ HERE.

Deadline for submitting your copied groups: the sooner, the better.

New TX Lists (code groups) are now available for this event. Code groups from previous events are not valid and will not score. Obtain a registered TX List by emailing your call sign to [email protected]

Roster & Results. The current roster of participants, team assignments, and updated results when available, are posted HERE.

Have fun!

Also the pronunciation of DEN-SHIN is the same as TELEGRAPHY in Japanese 電信.

ACTIVITY DATE: 24 February 2024: 0000z to 25 Feb 2024: 2359z

PURPOSE: The objectives of the CWops Activity Weekends are to generate more on-air conversational QSOs between members, build skills, and foster camaraderie.

SPOTTER: Use this very handy tool to look for activity from fellow CWops members:

CWO CALL SIGNS: VK1CWO and other “CWO” callsigns may be active.

PRIZES: There are no prizes, and this is not a contest.

LOG SUBMISSION: Members are asked to submit notification of their participation only. .These results will be used to track activity and gauge participation.

Full details in the January edition of Solid Copy

I hope to c u on the bands for a rag-chew. 73, Chris VK3QB #2949

Re: invitation to VBAND

Here in JA, Dit-Dah Chat developed by a member of A1CLUB is often heard.

We once gave the A1NET a try to transmit simultaneously both on-air and the DitDah.

Internet is far delayed than radio waves so a single KEY station couldn't listen to both and manage check-in's at once.

WWFF / POTA Park activation 1630Z Friday

Edited

I typed the wrong time in the title !!!

I will be on 7033 calling CQ and listening for stations in Japan at 1330z tomorrow (NOT 1630z) !

Sorry about the typing mistake, 1330z on 7033 kHz, it is a very quiet location with S0 to S1 noise level, I can hear lots of weak signals there !

Re: invitation to VBAND

Mailing the kit might be expensive. A cheaper and DIY-option which works equally fine is to use a cheap Arduino which has keyboard emulation. I am using a Leonardo with Simon's (G0FOZ) very simple code. See

Dear A1CLUB members,

You are invited to

Sending works best to purchase the CW Hotline kit. Then connect via USB.?
https://hamradio.solutions/cwhotline/

I use the Vband channels to practice on my sending.
After clicking on the link, I may see callsigns from many parts of the world.
If you click on a callsign - QRZ page opens up for that station.
Some will put the call - RX only. And just listen and watch the decoder .

Go to the settings tab and put your name.?

When the bands are EMPTY and the noise level is high.?
Try vband.

There are times no one is there.
This is your invitation.?

YOU do not need callsign to get on.
