Re: Web Morse Runner (Christmas Edition 2024)

Dear Atsu-san,
thanks so much for testing. I'm using different OS, but this includes Win11/Mac/Linux(+iOS).
I recognized the Function keys working slightly different on all of them.?
This is not a problem of the software, just the OS tries to provide you with all additional function like Volume Control or Dimming the display? etc.

Win11 is more complicated. Here is an English article:

In my setup the very easy Method 1 worked (Pressing Fn-key?+ Lock (ESC)). I hope this works with Japanese keyboard as ESC used in Japanese IME.
Only F7 was catched by chrome browser, but could just assign it and now Function Key works as expects.?

For Mac user to get Function Keys back you need to go to System settings.

It's cumbersome to reclaim the Function Keys, but once active they seems to be the best choice. I assume contest log software would make use of these keys too.
Considered alternative keys, but as I e.g. use German Keyboard it might not be the best choice in other environments, also OS dependent keys (Windows Key?) seem to be not good.? (e.g. Umlaute:; ???) HI HI.

Hope this works for you. Would be happy if you can give feedback, so I can add these tipps to the documentation.
BEST 73 DE Thomas

the best CW practice is to be on the air, like in AWT. But not always the situation permits activity on HF bands. When Hiro-san asked what we do to practice CW I replied: using Morse Runner (VE3NEA), even I'm not a contest guy, it helps to get better and faster.

However there are many situation (like travel) where I could not run MorseRunner, as it is a Windows software.

To overcome this limitations I have re-create Morse Runner as Web-Application (Javascript) from scratch. It runs in the browser without local installation.?

Meanwhile this website covers 100% of my personal used Windows Morse Runner functions, this is about 80-90% of all functions.

Even Web Morse Runner is very new and I'm still bug hunting and optimizing, I personally started to daily practice with it.

This early "Christmas Edition" of Web Morse Runner can be accessed for evaluation:

It is available as open source in the linked GitHub repository.

Maybe during Japanese New Year (正月) some A1CLUB members have no access to HF antennas and still like to practice the beautiful sound of morse code?

I could get Web Morse Runner running on my iPhone using a BT Keyboard. HI HI

If you don't know Morse Runner yet, there is a English Youtube Video that explains the use of the original Windows software:

Dear Hiro-san,
thanks so much for your test!??
I have just re-tested on a iphone and it runs both in Safari and Chrome (Disclaimer: only tested sound as I don't have BT keyboard HR).?
Earlier I had same issue on iOS: Have been long in Japan and using Manner-Mode! The small switch at side of the device to turn on silent mode. Can you check the silent mode is off and volume is up?
Hope this helps,

Please have a look at the following web pages.

No HOKKAIDO or 8 Area station?

If yes, you've completed the AJD award - All Japan Districts.

And if you worked in a day, it will be the One Day AJD!

Re: CQWW contest

Don’t know if it’s a polar effect or not, what I experienced was an European Russian station was very echoed, but not further west such as German stations.

Re: CQWW contest

The bands were in great shape with some interesting polar openings from eastern US to JA in the late afternoons local time

Re: CQWW contest

The CQWW CW was a great contest. I worked 27 unique JA-calls, but only 1 is a A1 clubmember.
From the uploaded logs, 10 ops set their club to A1CLUB.
It was the first time I worked JA on 40m. It could have been better, but I could not raise my antenna high enough because of the very strong wind.

This is a screencopy of the Loganalyzer of the JA-stations I worked.

ONLINE KONSHINKAI, DEC 2024

Dear A1CLUB members,

It's getting colder suddenly here in JA. and when the WX gets colder like this, I'll start missing vacuum tube radios and so turn them on as their health check recently.

The next A1NET is the BUG NITE, but if I'll have a chance I also hold a Boat Anchors Gathering on the A1NET, so please be sure to maintain your vacuum tube radios.

* Boat Anchors: Because the old radios are very heavy, they are often referred to as boat anchors.

Now, I'm happy to announce that "ONLINE KONSHINKAI (online gathering) [Year-End Party Edition]" will be held in DEC 2024.

This time, there will be no presentation session but the entire event will be just an online eyeball QSO.

Please allow me a few days for the first reply.

The Zoom URL of the ONLINE KONSHINKAI will be sent to you a few days in advancer to the event.
