"chirping" from panel below couch/bed

As we are preparing to leave on another camping trip tomorrow, we've noticed that there is a loud chirping come from the panel that is located above the floor on the wood riser below the couch/bed. It is constant, about every couple of minutes, and we don't know how to stop it. Any suggestions?

The CO (carbon monoxide) detector if it is wired?to your trailer?battery will chirp if it is not getting enough pwr from the battery. Try charging your trailer battery and see if that helps.

Hi, I’ve been home from my last trip about a month and the chirp sounds like a familiar experience. For me the problem was a poor battery. It did fine the first three days, my solar system kept it charged but then the battery went bad and the charge I got from my Zamp helped during the day but by midnight the chirping started. So I ended up disconnecting the battery for the remainder of my two week trip. Hope this helps.?

Suggestion :? Next time your CO detector sounds off due to low battery, disconnect the CO detector, not the battery. Cut the red or black wire to the detector and tape it off, or better yet, install a switch in the line.?

Hi Gang:

We have small campers and a high CO (Carbon Monoxide) level could be deadly.

Fix your battery problems and keep the CO detector working.

Carl.

If not low battery or malfunction from other cause, ?the CO2 detector may need to be replaced. ?I believe they only last about 5 years.?

It's not that they only "last" 5 years.? The newer ones are programmed to start chirping after 5 years.? Smart guys in marketing...

The sensitivity of the ?gas sensor used in CO detectors degrades over time and most companies recommend replacing the unit after a fixed period of time, typ 5-10 years. All detectors made after 2009 are required by law to have an end of life signal built in. You can buy a disposable, battery-operated CO detector with 10-year lifespan for a lot less than the cost of these RV units.

From what I see the thing that makes the detectors in our campers so expensive is they detect both propane and CO.? A detector for just propane or just CO is around $30.? But for dual dectection the majority are $60 or more..? The few dual detectors for cheap have comments saying they don't work.
