Trailer sway

I have an Aliner R12 that has significantly?more wear on the inner and outer treads of each tire. Normally this is indicative of low pressure, but this is not the case here. I check and confirm frequently that the pressure is the?max psi as printed on the tire sidewall - 50 lbs. I am on the 3rd set of tires; the original as supplied with the unit new were LoadStar bias ply. Presently I am on Carlisle radial. The wear is identical. I have also measured and confirmed?that the axle is square to the frame to within 1/8".

Re: Expedition camper cover

Hi Paul,

I have had a Carver Cover for 10 years now on our 2013 Expedition.? The first cover, from Adco, shredded to pieces within 2 years of use (note: it was the lowest-end cover that Adco sells).? The Carver Cover is certainly pricier than the Adco, but it came with a 5 year warranty and, after 10 years of use now, is going strong.? I just took a look at their website (carvercovers.com) and see their main page has a tab labelled 'RV Covers', but the only thing they list under that tab is Golf Cart covers.? Which is strange.? Anyway, if they still offer RV covers, I highly recommend them.

Doug

Eugene :

I should mention that anyone can attend an AOC sponsored rally, but the AOC will of course allocate funds only for paid up AOC members who attend the rally. If non members want to join the AOC. they can do so at the rally. Talk with me or the Southwest Director on how to do this.

Any AOC member can organize a rally, but there are a few things to do first:

?

1.???? Check out the venue, make sure you understand all their restrictions regarding groups, facilities, pet restrictions, site numbers and descriptions, etc.? Make sure you have a good working relationship with the venue hosts, so you can compare notes regarding names of registrants, etc.? And be sure everyone leaves the campground in better shape than they found it – the AOC has a rep to maintain!

2.??? When you have a tentative date and the info above, contact the Regional Director for the region in which the campsite resides, to get their agreement and support.? You can check the AOC website for this info.

3.??? Announce the rally to the club by posting an email to the Communications Director and The Webmaster, so that the rally can be posted in the website regional pages and the AOC Calendar.

?

Of course, anyone can invite friends to join them at a campground, but the above framework applies if you want a rally to be announced and sponsored by the AOC.

?

An Ad Hoc rally is simply a rally where there are no pre-planned events.? Folks just register, show up and hang out.? The group might pick a place to go to eat or not, decide to have campfires and discussions, but it’s all done ad hoc.? Ad Hoc rallies are very popular in many AOC regions.

Dave, (& everyone in the know)

I would like to organize a rally, possibly sponsored by the AOC, out in Quartzsite AZ this January. I would like it to be a boondocking rally, it would be on a BLM 14 day area,? (we would follow all the BLM rules). I don't think I have ever been to an ad hoc rally, but my impression of them is it is just a group of people camping together with no particularly special activities involved. I have downloaded and read the article on the AOC website about how to have a traditional rally, but there is no mention of ad hoc rally.??

What is an AD HOC Rally

I would like to have some traditional rally events: A. camp fire each night, B. Seminar/group discussion day/s about Boondocking, Solar, Travel tools & a General Q&A session about anything A-Frame.? ?

Re: What is an AOC Ad Hoc Rally

If you set something up, I hope you post it on here. It would be an interesting meet up

Re: What is an AOC Ad Hoc Rally

Just a heads up if it is a rally on blm lands , you will probably have to get permission / permit from the BLM. And provide porta John's etc..? best to check with them ahead of time

I know the Rubber tramp rendezvous, quit doing rallys on blm land due to this in quartzite.

But it sounds like a cool idea, for us western aliner campers.

Best of luck

Re: AM/FM radio antenna

Joe,
I would use a dipole type antenna - you can mount it inside the Aliner and it should work pretty well. Here's one marketed for boats: . For other options, I just did an Amazon search for "dipole antenna for cars". This type of antenna is better suited for FM, but would work on AM too.
?
I would avoid an "amplified" antenna. They can work, but tend to be a bit gimmicky. Hope this helps!

Re: 2007 Chalet Folding Alpine Leakage Issues

Another product that I’ve used on seams is Permatex 81730, a low-viscosity silicone that is sold to fix leaks around auto windshields. This is a clear silicone product and it cannot be painted, so it’s best to use it sparingly.?

AM/FM radio antenna

I want to add a AM/FM/CD radio to our Classic. ?I know, I know someone needs to drag me into the 21st century, but I like free music and information when we don’t have a cell signal. We have stumbled on some great stations on FM and AM out in the middle of nowhere. I can’t ?find any current information on AM/FM antennas. I would prefer not making holes in the exterior of the camper but performance is important in the boondocks. Any suggestions?

Thanks, I understand it now.? I'm glad you mentioned power cord.? I hadn't thought of that, and I'm sure I have a good extension cord I can sacrifice.

Probably no benefit to increasing wire size, except for wires that run from your 7 pin Bargman plug to your camper battery, DC-DC Converter and Converter/Charger.? I use 8 AWG wiring for these items, including ground returns for them.? And, if you have two similar batteries wired in parallel, heavy 2 AWG wiring or similar should be used to connect them.

I gutted my Classic to replace the floor.? I'm about to reinstall the wiring.? Aside from improving the installation in general by adding terminal blocks etc. is there any significant benefit to increase the wire gauge?? I don't have any real plans to boondock or go total solar at any time.

Re: Camper Wiring Guage

Be careful when using the stranded wire for 120vac - the breakers and outlets are designed for solid wire (especially the breakers)- if you go the stranded route for the 120vac wiring make sure you either tin the ends or use ferrules?

Happy camping

Hello Don:

It isn't obvious but the Green/Yellow are ground terminals and are common to the mounting rail. I've tried to color the other terminal groups the same. Each group is made common by the strips in the center with screws.

The wires out the bottom feed a socket for the tail light plug-in.

For the 120 volts I've added, I use heavy extension cord wire held in place with nylon clips. I did replace the convertor box when the input terminal failed, the solid wire have been OK, so I left them.

The terminal strips make trouble shooting easier too. You can touch the screw head with a test light without undoing any wire nuts.
