Wind Kit arm Ranger 15

I've just been notified that one of the wind kit arms on my 2016 Aliner Ranger 15 has been damaged. ?How do I go about replacing it? ?I'm not in North America right now so don't have it in front of me but want to get the process started to replace it. ?If there is something available in Canada that would be great.

Re: My Gas Spring Adventure

I inadvertently started a new threat on this.? ?It must be because I changed the subject name and put the word update in front of it.??

Re: Update - Re: My Gas Spring Adventure

Hello:
We don't have struts, but I found the pop rivets giving way. I put a 1/4" bolt between all the rivets and extras at the ends. Very stable now. Why did they use pop rivets in such a high stress area??

I bit the bullet and finally mounted two 30# gas Springs on the front section. I like them, they are mounted at 72¡ã when open.? They don't quite provide the lift needed to make them neutral.? As you can see I left the factory supplied 100# gas Springs on for now.? ?2nd picture Also, it has caused another issue. It is pushing the roof back and has started to separate the piano hinge from the roof skirt section. 1st picture.?
I guess my plan of attack is to sandwich the inside and outside with aluminum flat stock or angle.? It was really noticeable with the springs on and the camper closed. The roof latch on the passenger side was way out of line.?
Does anyone have any experience with this happening after adding your gas Springs??

Re: Wheel bearing question

hi gang:
?
we had a bearing cap with a zerk and I pumped grease in before each trip. the bearings were always almost too hot to touch. the break mechanic cheched them and said "too much grease" and switched the caps for plain. since then the bearings are barely warm.

Point taken Dave.? I'll definitely pick one up.? Is there a "ballpoint" temperature at or over which one should be concerned?? Thanks again.? Jerry

Re: Wheel bearing question

Might the hot side been the sunny side while traveling?

That's just scary...? That entire axle is trashed...?

..........?

One way to know the hub is too hot is when the orange light comes on.

You mean "ballpark" max temp? Nothing official that I know of. Normal hub temps are usually about 150 degrees F. or less. 200 degrees or more would concern me.?

Dave?
...........?

Re: Wheel bearing question

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Nothing. To read hub temps with a non - contact infrared thermometer, the hub has to be exposed. I recommend removing and discarding wheel hub caps, so the hubs are always exposed.?

Dave?

..........

This raises a question for me.? What do you have, if anything, covering the hubs?? I would have to remove my wheels to check the temp.??

Might the hot side been the sunny side while traveling?? I notice a difference on the sunny side and will get to the point of uncomfortable to touch.? And combined with brake heat.

?

Mike Gonda¡¯s gutter installation (really an extender, not a gutter) was mounted flush to the top surface of the roof extrusion, so that rain water simply cascaded over the extender edge and onto the front or rear lower wall. Since my traditional gutter works fine, I¡¯m not going to remove it in favor of an extender, but it¡¯s a very good design.

?

For diverters, you¡¯ll want to actively observe water flow near the vulnerable edges of your front and rear roof halves in a rainstorm to see where to place them.? Using a water hose never works as well as nature.? My diverters are mounted at a 45 degree angle on the front and rear corners of the roof side extrusions so that they extend slightly outboard of the sides of the roof halves.? Another type of diverter, a vertical metal strap, is mounted from the sides of the roof extrusions to the plastic side edge flaps, to divert water that wicks down the lower edge of the roof side extrusions.? After years? of sitting in the rain, there is no water leakage inside my LXE.

?

Check out the attached photo, looking up at the left rear corner of my 2005 LXE.? Note that the gutter in my photo is the traditional one, not the flush extender designed by Mike Gonda that I mentioned above.

Hi again folks.? Several days back, Dave described an improved method of adding rain gutter gutters.? I would like to install a set.? ?However,? I'd like a further description of where the gutters are placed, whether the angle aluminum is mounted with the perpendicular section up or down.? ?Is it mounted flush (in line with the roof edge), or is there value in mounting it further down on the aluminum roof extrusion?? ?I do see the value in extending the gutter ends out from {wider than) the roof, and adding a diverter (as in Dave's original installation).? Thanks in advance.....I want to do this right.? ;-)? ?

Jerry:

?

A couple of observations:

1.???? Did you know that environmental conditions can impact hub temps?? If one hub is consistently in the sun while the other isn¡¯t while you¡¯re towing, or if the prevailing wind blows on one hub and not the other, these factors can influence differentiation of temps.

2.??? I¡¯d advise NEVER using your hand to gauge hub temps!? Use a non-contact infrared thermometer, available at places like Harbor Freight, to do the measuring.? First, they are more accurate than your hand.? Second, if there is a serious problem, a hub can get so hot that it¡¯ll take the skin off your hand.

Dave

?

Dave, as always, thank you for your insightful response.? No specific temp readings....rather, I did the "How are my bearings doing touch test". ?? ?One side was slightly warm.? The other side was too hot to touch for more than a second or two.? ?At any rate, I am going to repack bearings on both sides.? The bearings, nor the hub on the "hot" side does not show any evidence of problems.? Nut appeared to be snugged and backed off correctly.? ?I'll clean things off and repack.? Will add outer washers.? Will ensure the brakes are not dragging.? Will report back on the outcome.? Thanks again, Jerry

Re: stainless toggle corner clamp

Rick, the ones I have are different from this used on the A wall pics.? Mine are made to be flat.? Ultimately I switched to a vertical slide bolt.
