Re: Air Conditioner Cover
Susan's email address is?kitemaker4@....? I ordered one from her for our 2013 Expedition in 2017 and let me tell you, the cover is bulletproof.? I drive with it installed over the a/c unit and it is rock solid in-place when I arrive at the campsite.? I can't say enough good things about Susan's work.? I highly recommend her! Re: Hitch
开云体育I personally think the back should be slightly lower. When I bought a used classic in Pa and was towing it back to NC I drove thru some heavy rain about an hour from home. The trailer hitch I had on was straight out so the front of camper was slightly low. Water leaked in from the back panel to front where it rests on the foam. It caused a little damage as it caused the thin vinyl layer on inside to separate from wood that its glued to. Not serious but never looked the same. Did my best to get it dry so mold wouldn’t grow.I replaced the hitch with one that curves up so camper is mostly level with a slight tilt to the back. Just my 2 cents worth. If you store your camper with the roof down, mice could make it in around the corners. Plus they are more unlikely if you remove all the food and water before storage.

Re: Refrigerator vent cover
Kathryn, The square locks on the louvers require a 1/4 turn of the screwdriver, in either direction.? The turn only spreads the lock wider so it can't come out.? Once you know how they work, I find them to be very secure. As for entry points, the louvers have rather small openings.? I think a mouse would have trouble entering.? The electric cable opening could be at fault if the cover is open and the little plastic fingers are broken.? Mine didn't last long.? I cut the cable and installed a twist lock shore power socket and plug.? I roll up the cord and toss it in a storage compartment, or on the floor of the camper as I leave.? One other possibility, is there are a couple round plastic drain openings in the floor of my camper.? One near the outside shower, and one in the back of the fridge.? If they have become brittle and broken, it would leave about an inch and a half opening. -- Don DeRyke Sunrise, Florida 2009 Classic, 2020 Ford Escape, 2.0 liter EcoBoost, AWD.? What about by the electric cord? I always had mice until this year when? I stuffed that opening with steel wool during the winter. Refrigerator vent cover
Looking for advice. I have been getting mice in my camper I think they might be able to get in through the vents for the refrigerator. Possibly around the air conditioner? My a/c cover fits both super tight and leaves a bog camp where it meets the wall of the camper. So maybe someone can crawl in? Interested in pursuing suggestion of the Amazon cover with the straps and cord.
I thought I might be able to put chicken wire or something inside. I tried to get the covers off by turning those plastic things that look like screws but it doesn’t come loose and I am afraid to force it because the plastic is going on 10 years old. So two questions: Advice on how to open the cover. Would a screen of some type impede the airflow such that it should be removed when we are using the camper? Thanks. |
Re: Air Conditioner Cover
开云体育I was hoping to use the snaps to secure the cover. If that cover is deep enough, I can add snaps.?

I just found a cover that was close enough on Amazon, then got 10yds of 1/8" stretch cord to wrap around it.
and
I actually cut the straps that were on the cover off (as I discovered the 1st time, they're pretty useless - they loosened up and the wind destroyed the first cover I had). I then used 1 set of fasteners from those straps to connect
the 2 ends of the stretch cord (I didn't want to be tying/untying knots!)

Re: Solar charger recommendations
You can either select by battery type (all the info will be filled out) or you can select custom and set your own parameters.??

But to access the settings you need the Bluetooth dongle (or the charge controller with Bluetooth built in) it is set in the phone app.?? The app is very useful and informative.?

We will be interested in what you decide. ?I have a 2020 Ranger 12 that has for a variety of reason been barely used. I have a 100w portable panel and I built an adjustable frame so I. Could put it in whatever sunlight I can find. ?It seems to
keep my battery topped off but I don’t use much power. ( fantastic fan, occasional furnace fan, interior led lights, phone charging, and not much more.). It is heavy and I would not want to put it on the Aliner. Besides I almost always find a shady spot to
park the camper. ?We are always off grid and like to sleep cooler. The frig runs on propane and I haven’t yet ( future project) installed a vent cooling fan.?
Keep us posted.?

Thank you all for the feedback. I was seriously looking at the glass panels and hadn’t thought about the weight. Coming from over 40 years in maintenance at a steel mill I couldn’t tape the panel in place. That would not be “Mill duty.” I’ve always been
a ‘planner’ so I’ll see how we really use our new camper before I make the solar investment, because I don’t want to have to do it twice. Thank you all again and I’ll keep you posted.

Re: Solar charger recommendations
To dan smartt:??
With the Victron Energy BlueSolar MPPT 75V 15 amp 12/24-Volt Solar Charge Controller that you are using do you have to program the controller with information on your battery as far as battery capacity,? number of amp hours, upper and lower limits for charging ( shut off of charge ), Battery Size etc.? Or is it plug and play like smart Battery Tenders with a float mode. I need a new Solar Controller for my Renergy Energy 100 Watt Solar Suitcase. Thanks for the information. Jack |
