Re: Switch to lithium ion??

You have to be careful when using results from one trailer to predict results for another trailer.? If you have one 100 ah battery, that may not blow the fuse on the bargman power wire.? But the poster said he was installing 200 ah, and that may.? If you have 10 awg wires going to your battery, that may not draw as much current as someone with thicker battery wires.? I upgraded the wires from my battery to my converter and that almost doubled the amps going from charger to battery.? You use solar to charge your battery at times.? That will equalize the cells in the lithium, and if you do that even just 4 times a year, you probably won't have problems with cells going bad due to under charging.? 8f you degrade your lithium battery and cut the number of charge cycles in half, you go from 2000 to 1000 charges, and for most people, that is still good enough to last the lifetime of the trailer, and you won't know and won't care, but others may be different.

I tried to find numbers on cases where people had problems.? But I couldn't find any posts where they clearly stated their configuration.? I got the impression, though, that it was the larger battery banks that had issues.

I have had a lithium battery (battleborn) for 5 years - no DC to DC charger battery is fine, tow vehicle battery fine -

I do have a solar charge controller and I upgraded the charge portion of my converter for the lithium.

No problems here.?

The solar keeps it topped off while driving, before I used to tow without the solar hooked up (about 4 years) still no problems.

But for each his own

You don't need the dc-dc converter - it would be nice etc . But you won't hurt your tow vehicle or lithium battery without the DC to DC charger.
I respectfully disagree.
