When you get a lifepo4 battery you may want:
Low temperature protection?
High temperature protection
IP65 waterproof rating
Internal heater
50 amp max charge rate for 100 AH battery
50 amp max discharge rate for 100 AH battery.
The low temperature protection cuts off charging if temps drop below 32.? Pretty much everybody will want this because if the charging is not shut off when freezing the battery will be destroyed.? You don't want to be forced to unplug your hookup or disconnect solar every night if temps may go below freezing.? Cheap batteries don't have this.
Everybody wants high temp protection too for the same reason.? Just about all batteries have this
You need the IP65 waterproof rating if you put the battery on the trailer tongue.??
You want an internal heater if you camp in temps that remain below freezing all day.? Most don't need this, and it costs a LOT more.
You want a 50 amp max charge rate rather than something lower.? Lower means sub par wiring, and if you spend the money on lifepo4 get something that charges fast, so generators can be run for short periods.y
You want a 50 amp max discharge rate because less implies sub par wiring.? Most 100 ah batteries have a 100 amp max discharge rate.? You don't really need a 50 amp max discharge rate for reasons other than getting good wiring.
Renogy has a 100 ah battery that has low & high temp protection, ip65 rating, and models come with or without a heater.? The non heated is $500 and the heated one also has Bluetooth and is $854.
Weize has a 100 ah battery with low and high temp protection, and they do not say its ip65 but reports are that its well glued together and holds up to water.? Its warranty is10 years, which is great, but there is no weize.com, just the seller on amazon.? It costs $400.
Chins and Ampere Time are examples of 100 ah cheap sub $400 batteries with no low temp protection.??
You can look on youtube and search for "will prowse lifepo4 battery" to see some good reviews.? He tests the batteries and also cuts them to pieces to find out how good the components and construction is.
