Calling on the Doctor, Natari, Van Helsing

?

?
"I suppose your suggestion is as safe a way as any. You are in the lion's den. I fear that which you thought of our kind was correct at least half of the time. I am even one you would likely disapprove of for where some like my maker do not kill their dinner, merely taking some here and there from various doners I feed from those unfortunates who live on the street and I do take my fill. I consider it survival of the fittest. Yet I am still gentle enough for my kind. So perhaps they will b grateful and perhaps not. The one Amara has dangerous abilities of which I have never heard. She made me think she was my maker. He is not at all like she is and I don't know why it didn't occur to me for several minutes that he should not even be here or know where I am were he in London which he is not."
?
She sighed slumping back in the chair.
?
"I believe in the food chain and I realize those like you consider all human life sacred. So why you're not killing me now simply because I've not attempted to kill you is frankly beyond me."
?
The stress of the situation had her being more frank and playing more on the edge than she would normally do. If he attacked her she supposed she'd just have to see how it went.
I'm friends with the monster that's under my bed.
I get along with the voices inside of my head.

OOC, Sending this for quips as it seems her replies are only going to me.

I am only sorry I thought of your kind that way, rather than judging each on his or her own merit, Helsing replied, it was prejudice of me, and downright wrong. He sounded disgusted with himself for his previous thoughts and actions concerning vampires. Nevertheless, he gave a rather warm smile when she mentioned being in the Lions den, as he was quite familiar with the biblical story. I suppose either way it goes, I will end?up having to take my chances and trust¡, He did not say in whom?he would trust, figuring that she would know, or at least have an idea, judging from the cross which he?wore.

But tell me, he continued, as a troubled expression seemed to carve a path into his otherwise serene features, why did amara deceive you into thinking she, was?your maker? Is she angry with you? ?Is there any reason why she would make you think such things?

He knew that, even questions that might be painfully obvious to most, or might seem to have nothing to do with the current subject, could yield productive answers and solutions, if asked in the right way, and if pursued and researched properly.?

God loves you.

"Had you attempted to judge each of us on an individual level before deciding to kill or let live as it were, you would be dead yourself by now for someone would've surely decided that you were dinner eventually," Natari said.
?
As she spoke she kicked herself for this...telling him more than she should've, giving him advice to keep him alive. She briefly closed her eyes and let out a small sigh. Enough vampires would want her head for this and she'd generally agree which made it worse or at least more strange.
?
?
When he alluded to God she did to flinch as many would but she'd already shown him that she, unlike many of her kind, had no problem touching crosses.
?
"Remember, Doctor, that God is said to help those who help themselves, and being careless with your life, going too close to the mouths of lions, may not be considered so helpful," she warned.
?
?
?
When he asked if Amara was angry with her, Natari gave her head of long dark hair a slight shake, a baffled expression crossing her features as slender arms came up to hug herself.
?
"She should not be for I have never seen her before. If she has some issue with me, I am unaware."
?
?
Had Oliver run a foul of someone? Unlikely.
?
"Perhaps she mistrusted my association with you. It is all I can speculate though perhaps such speculations are unjustified."
?
She had no idea, but again could she blame this Amara were this the case?

Helsing slowly nodded with understanding when Natari told him the sobering fact, that he would likely be dead had he stopped to judge whether or not he should kill the vampires, or let them live. You are probably very correct, his voice held a tone of consideration in?it as he spoke. ?and your observation about God is in fact, true enough; we cannot for example jump from the roof of a building, expecting him to save us, or even to preserve our lives. There are certain natural laws in effect, and when those laws are broken¡, He gave a shrug, it is the law breaker, not the law giver, who catches the trouble for such infractions.

Her action of closing her eyes and giving a sigh, was not lost on the doctor, for it was customary for him to notice the small details which showed various body language of those with whom he was concerned. ?he gave the vampire a concerned look.

You seem¡, unwell somehow, or perhaps a much better word would be¡, Concerned? Tired perhaps? He could tell that something was not exactly well with her, perhaps, worried?

God loves you.

"Some of the vampires I mentioned who would kill you would do it not because they are rabid beasts, but rather because you kill their kind. They aren't...sitting well with that," The Italian said carefully. "Much the same as you who kill our kind because they kill humans. It runs both ways. Perhaps half of them are the way you see them, and the others not so much. I do believe in survival of the fittest but I understand that many humans do not feel this way even though they are usually at the top of that food chain ironic though that is."
?
?
She chose not to respond to his kind concern because it would be uncomfortable to explain, then, for some reason, changed her mind in an instant.
?
"In truth it is because I am simply foolish enough to be sitting here right now. I put myself at risk. Those same vampires who would come for you because you kill their own would see me as a traitor though I do not."

I suppose my question is, were?the majority of vampires made by their own choice, or, was it simply something which happened to them? ?Helsing softly cleared his throat after asking his question, in other words, were the majority of them victims, or did many of them want this? He listened thoughtfully to her, then stated, there is something else here too which I have recently considered, though I regretfully did not consider it before. ?i¡¯m sure you know that, no small number of humans go out every year in the autumn and winter, into the forest to hunt venison; The animals have no idea that the humans are coming, save for the sense of smell, and even that can often??be hidden.

He paused to study her expression, giving her time to make any response which she chose to make, before continuing. ?we humans are at the top of the food chain, and have a definite advantage over the animals we choose to hunt, whatever animals those may be. They have the advantages of being in their own habitat, of the more acute senses, but we have our intelligence, as well as our weapons. There are those I am sure, who would say that we are wrong, or that those who hunt the animals are wrong for doing so, because they are taking lives, but most, feel that the animals are put here for food for us. ?there is a difference of coarse, but on a basic level, I asked myself how can I support the idea of humans killing animals for food, and condemn vampires doing the same thing. Not that I am for the killing of other humans, you understand, but to support one, to approve one and condemn the other, is perhaps the greatest wrong there is, wouldn¡¯t you agree? What are your thoughts on the matter? ? He would pause then, giving her time to respond with whatever answers, questions or comments she might have, before continuing.

?As far as killing those of You¡¯re kind, I suppose you could say that, is why I am trying to research and find a way to help those who wish to, to become humans again. I do not know what it will do to them, I do not know what age they will be, if any of this even works, I do not know how long they will live, once they are human. But it is a way to hopefully make up for having killed many of your kind.

He gave her a considering look when she spoke of being foolish enough to be sitting there. You still feel as if you put yourself at risk? Is there anyway you can simply not let all of them, know what you¡¯re doing? Is there a way perhaps to keep the secret away from other vampires? His eyebrows raised in definite ?interest.?

God loves you.

"Yes there is always predator and prey, humans are simply unwilling to be the prey again," Natari said with a slightly amused smile.
?
"Some vampires chose to be what they were and some not but in truth that doesn't always indicate how well they will take to it. It's about how well they adapt to change and how mentally stable they are as well as their general personality. A human who is unkind will make an unkind vampire. I wasn't asked but I was turned by a family friend and I had been stabbed in a robbery so would have died otherwise so I am glad he saved my life. I understand you may not have considered it to be a saving when you thought of us all as demonic but it was for me."

Helsing slowly nodded, that makes sense, he commented. ?And that can be taken two ways, he continued, making a careful observation. An unkind person can become, an unkind vampire. An unkind person, I am sure, could also??make an unkind vampire as in, produce, one. If one is turned into a vampire by someone unkind, would it?not be more likely that the new vampire might adopt that same way of thinking and acting? Please correct me if I am mistaken
