Re: Strange Happenings (Natari/Van Helsing)

Van Helsing ?nodded when Natari ?stated that she did not know what to make of it. He chuckled warmly, well, you can imagine then how strange it is to me, in short, I am not sure what to make of it either, of?any of this. I can respect your wishes about not wanting to be humanized, and because you have shown yourself trustworthy, I in turn, have chosen to trust you. That is why I made my earlier offer, ?but there must be some other way than death to accomplish this. I am thinking of a sort of reversal process, he at last voiced his budding theory about helping them become human again. I am not yet sure how it would work though, he admitted.???

Re: Strange Happenings (Natari/Van Helsing)

"I'm telling you that one of them has abilities I've never seen in a vampire or even heard of," Natari said emphatically.
?
"And no I do not know what to make of it," she confirmed with a slight? shiver before he could ask.
?
The fact he would allow her to drink from if necessary was interesting to say the least and impacting on many levels she would have to contemplate later. And to share with? Oliver as she was curious of her friend's thoughts on the matter or on her potential accomplishments. Right now, though she had more pressing issues of the unknown to contend with.
?
?
"My guess is that they didn't want me here with you. Perhaps due to not being completely honest," she speculated then shrugged slender shoulders in an elegant gesture that said she was only speculating.
?
"I have never heard of vampirism being healed by anything but death, but who knows? Why they wouldn't want me around for that, though, is anyone's guess. I, of course, do not wish to be humanized but to each their own if they wish to die in 50 years."

Re: Strange Happenings (Natari/Van Helsing)

?I am honestly not sure what to think of any of them either, Van Helsing ?admitted, eyeing?her thoughtfully. ? What baffles me more is, how to help them; I am supposed to come up with some sort of potion to turn vampires back into humans, and yet I am not sure how to do such a thing. I am a man of science, and making such potions for vampires is, well it can be scientific I suppose, but it gets very much into the realm of, of the supernatural, of, well magic. ? ? It would have to be something to work not only on the body, but on the spirit and mind as well. It would have to be the exact mixture of science, and spirit.?
?
?He glanced a way to hide a look of relief when she said she was not in need. Well, I would offer, if you were in need of a small amount of beverage, he told her, ?with a slight smile,??knowing full well they were both talking about blood.?
?
? The other matter is, he continued, his expression becoming serious again, how would I test the newly made potion? How would?I perform the experiment to see if it actually worked? It is something to consider. ?He
?
?
?was beginning to wonder to himself, would the potion work on them directly? In other words, would they drink the potion? Or would he, have to drink it, and then they, would drink from him?? ? He had heard that vampires were made, first by drinking from a human, then having that same human drink from them. So, perhaps the way to change one back into a human, was a sort of reverse process, with him drinking the potion, whatever that potion turned out to be, letting it get into his blood, then the vampire drinking from his blood. He wondered if he should even voice such a thing. He chose not to, but instead, took out writing implements, and wrote the idea down.?? ?

"Something was wrong with those people...That one made me think...well think my maker was here and...he was...unhappy with me."
?
Which were Vitto there he likely would be, she thought with a small inner cringe. He was a good person and...
?
"She has powers I've never seen in a vampire...I thought it was her. She vanished when I believed my maker was here. The Amara one."
?
She made a face, for truly she hadn't liked any of them.
?
Her gaze dropped to Helsing's wrist again at his words.
?
"No. I am not in need," she said.
Did he have something in his blood that would kill vampires? Otherwise she seemed to have won his trust, another consideration for interest later perhaps.
?

"Just if you were offering," she chuckled, eyes mischief's.

Re: Strange Happenings (Natari/Van Helsing)

Van Helsing ?blinked, and stood there, looking puzzled. All day?? I, don¡¯t think so, it seems like only moments that the others left, and I had just gotten into bed, or, so it seems. No, he shook his head when she asked if they did anything to him, not that I am aware, as I said, could it?really be that a whole day has passed? ? It was difficult for him to believe, to say the least, but he trusted her, and he knew she had no reason to lie to him.?
?
?He started to step away when her gaze drifted to his neck, and his wrist, but then he? stopped, are you, hungry? What I mean is, can you take just a bit from my wrist, without taking all? I am most certain that you can. He was not quite ready to hold out his wrist to her, but he wondered, he was so used to being kind to people,?did she need a drink?
?
?Come over here and let¡¯s sit down, shall we? He led her to a couple of comfortable chairs, taking one for himself, and motioning for her to take the other one. He was toying with the idea of actually offering her his wrist, since she had jokingly said that she knew he wouldn¡¯t do it. Now, what is on your mind this evening, he asked, both interest and concern showing in his face. ???

God loves you.

Re: Strange Happenings (Natari/Van Helsing)

"You slept all day?" Natari's usually composed removed features showed surprise and briefly, concern.
?
"Did those monsters do something to you?"
?
No she hadn't liked them at all. Or trusted them. Of course one didn't tend to trust strangers but the fact she trusted Helsing more...said something alright.
?
When he regretted not having beverages to offer her she smirked, mocking gaze dropping to his neck, then his wrist.
?
"Well technically you could, but I know you won't."
?
Her tone was amused, clearly she didn't expect anything but considering who he was, she couldn't resist the jibe. Even if he was kind?to her, he was still a hunter of her kind who may or may not? always believe they were monsters. She didn't fully trust the seeming progress she had made with him. Perhaps she was unfair for doing so or rather not doing so but Oliver's concerns though annoying were relevant. Were she incorrect she could also be dead.

Re: Strange Happenings (Natari/Van Helsing)

VanHelsing ?moaned when he heard the soft knock on his door. Is it morning already, he murmured?to himself, wondering what could actually be going on. Yes?? He called to the servant, who entered and said, apologies sir, I am sorry to wake you, but the lady Natari?is calling, she has come to visit you, says it is important that she sees you.
?
?It had been one of the longest nights he had spent in a while, and the doctor had finally drifted into a sound sleep, so it was understandable that he had to think for a second who the woman actually was. Oh, oh yes, tell her I will be along shortly will you please.
?
?He was soon dressed, his face still showing exhaustion as he slowly made his way to the lab, and unlocked the door. Good evening, ?or should I say, a pleasant very early morning to you, Natari, ?he greeted her with at least a remnant of a smile. The sun was not up yet, so she was still safe to be out and about, as it was still quite dark. Could I offer you¡, Um, ?well, never mind, I suppose. It is so customary to offer some sort of refreshment to one¡¯s guests, you must pardon me if I forget that you¡, Are not yet currently in the condition to except such offers. Or rather, perhaps it is that I do not have anything of substance for you.?
?
?
?Unlike many of his contemporaries, Van??Helsing ?had not allowed?science ?to smother his human side. He could always be the clinical scientist if necessary, but he always like to remind himself that, there was a human side to everything. ? ? He was often heard reminding those with whom he worked and associated, I was a human first, long before I was a scientist, and I will still continue to be human, long after my ability to study and perform scientific experiments is gone.?
?
?Presently, although his expression was still tired, he looked at the woman before him with concern and compassion in his eyes, and his eyes mutely?asked what had brought her to see him this evening. ????????? ??

Strange Happenings (Natari/Van Helsing)

After feeding, Natari returned to Dr. Van Helsing's, wondering idly if she'd find him alive. The youthful looking vampire wore a dark green velvet dress and a silvery cloak, her dark hair tucked under the hood and matching smoky quartz gems flashing in the necklace of heavy silver around her neck. She knocked, then asked the servant who opened the door to let the doctor know that Natari was calling.
?
She had many questions, all laced with a feeling of unease. Those vampires...they had been...strange to say the least. Had they actually left Van Helsing unscathed? Had me somehow managed to kill them instead? While impressive that would be equally worrisome in an entirely different way, she decided.

Re: An Evening¡¯s Work, London (Henry/Rena/Leti/open)

Leti's gaze fascinated on Henry with avid fascination as he spoke about politics.
?
"But if'in they said they was all out for themselves, all honest like they'd never get the vote. Not from their own and not from them what doesn't like that honest self interest," she pointed out.
?
"But I'd like to know, Dr. 'Enry, what would you do if you was in politics? I mean what would you want?"
Leti's eyes were eager and curious. She looked forward to hearing the answer if he would honestly share it.
?
"You seem honest and I like that. I always wondered what people like you thought," she said, half to herself. "But I have a feelin' most higher society gentleman don't think like you, do they?"
?
?
Rena watched quietly. She wasn't nearly as avid with interest as Leti, but she was following their talk.
?
Her gaze eventually searched the room for the man even as she listened to the other two talking.
?
"What promotion,"Leti asked Henry skeptically.
She didn't see how he could get her promoted here and there? wasn'tanything better to do here anyway.

"A very good practice that, not to believe them. Oh, I suppose I believe one thing underlying?everything they say. They do want to change something. Only to improve the lives, or the moral fabric of society,, whatever that even means, but their own life style. It doesn't seem to me like the least of Her Majesty's Ministers either come or go impoverished. In truth, I don't mind the self interest itself, I mind it being hidden behind pretty words?and other standards of behavior imposed as a result on...well?I would say society, but you know," Henry spoke vehemently noticing himself being all fired about and about to slip. To let the thin veneer of artificial civilization slide off him like an overused bed sheet.???
?
"Everywhere else? Don't be ridiculous," the good doctor chastised, able to force his jovial tone back out. "Fun is always there wherever I am. I grace your establishment with my presence, that means you are having all the fun you need working there. Although perhaps you should be promoted. A woman of your appetites needs more. Perhaps I shall arrange, after I address that pertinent matter," Henry spoke with?a frown, trying to figure out where was that dolt hiding who mistreated his new friend. ?

Re: An Evening¡¯s Work, London (Henry/Rena/Leti/open)

Rena and Leti exchanged a relieved glance at Henry's disgruntled?words on politics. Only a few seconds before, Rena was certain Henry's simmering disgruntlement was over her having to go get clothes. She was ready to? agree while apologizing, because she hated clothes shopping...hated it. Boring and uncomfortable and just no!?
?
For her part, Leti was certain the doctor was upset that? she'd ruined his plans and dragged him out for her personal trouble. So both were glad of the 3rd option.
?
?
"I don't believe no politicians," Leti told Henry with a quick grin.
?
"Sounds like you don't neither if you don't?put stock?by either party."
?
"They're all usually lying anyway and out for themselves. That never changes no matter the time," Rena said as they entered the Black Bess.
?
Leti stiffened, knowing she'd be expected to work in about an hour. If the man would just get here she could feel safe. Looking around she sighed.
?
"I hate workin' here," she complained.
?
"Seems like things is far more? excitin' everywhere else."

Sitting down like a customer felt odd, but she went with Henry and Rena to a table.

Re: An Evening¡¯s Work, London (Henry/Rena/Leti/open)

"That would be a relief," Henry readily admitted, still somewhat sulky from his perusal of the newspaper. Things were getting crazy in politics. The choice was between "love everybody" Gladstone and "sex is abomination" Cecil. Equality of the people has never been attainable, and in his opinion not even desirable. How could one aspire to be one's true self, to be great and on top of things, when everybody else was just like you. That was ridiculous of course. Or something. He hasn't had such bold thoughts in the longest while. Thoughts that reminded him of his younger days.
?
And then there was Cecil.?He was the one Carew chose to support, which was a terrible recommendation already. And then, to make matters worse, the?inept conservatives blew things up in Afghanistan and Africa. Africa, for crying out loud, where they weren't fighting any tigers, as far as he knew. That put their entire rhetoric of strength and inspiration in question. Henry normally?kept such thoughts to himself but oddly found himself moved, perhaps by irritation, to voice them.
?
"The only good thing that came out of Gladstone?was the Gladstone bag. Good quality leather, very comfortable, only Gladstone obviously did not manufacture it, the wretch. Yes, I shall gladly inquire into the offensive bastard who touched you.?If he doesn't offer an explanation and an apology, I will just pretend I will be pummeling Gladstone and Cecil intermittently, No Offense Leticia if Gladstone is your candidate or anything.?Oh wait, what am I saying. With your special needs, about taking care of people, surely you would not care so greatly about other people. I correct myself, retract my apology, and pretend?it never happened," Henry jovially concluded, talking out loud instantly putting him into? a better mood. ? ? ? ??

An Evening¡¯s Work, London (Henry/Rena/Leti/open)

They first went to the dress shop where a skilled seamstress was able to make a few alterations to a dress she already had. She wasn't able to work with the former Mrs. Hyde's clothing, but Rena didn't care. She just wanted to be covered. She and Leti went into the back with the seamstress while Henry was shown to a sofa where he could read magazines while he waited. Rena showed the seamstress her underthings and bra and spoke of various methods the woman could use to make something similar. The seamstress was in awe of the scandalously modern and obviously ore comfortable underthings, and believed Rena's story that these were the new ground breaking designs of NYC. An hour Rena promised to return in a few days to pick up the underthings and dresses she had commissioned.?

They next went to a shoe shop before heading for the Black Bess.

Mary had entered the room wearing a smile, obviously happy with her new choices of clothing for the mistress; but her countenance fell when Reena called her a stupid girl. ? She gave Reena a questioning look, which mutely?asked, what did I do now, before hanging her head.
?
?The look in her eyes showed how truly hurt she was, after all of her work, and even after she had made a point of not¡, Looking at the doctor this time.
?
?Mistress?? I¡, I¡¯m sorry that the clothes displease you, she glanced away then, toward the wall, not looking at either of the couple, hoping her trembling lips did not show, also hoping that the approaching tears did not show. ? She?gave Reena an incredulous look, and a small gasp of surprise when the lady of the house stated that clothes?shopping was stupid. ? She would have normally ?verbalized her surprise at this assertion, perhaps even being so bold as to try to persuade the mistress otherwise. But this time, she merely glanced away once more. When Reena commanded her to get out, and reiterated that she was a stupid girl, ?Mary gave a small bow of submission. Very well mistress, there is coffee and dinner for the two of you, and for your guest in the library. Goodbye. Her tone was soft, and she did not know why she had said goodbye, as her last word. She wasn¡¯t planning to leave, so why had she said it? Mary didn¡¯t know, but she turned, and walked slowly, dejectedly out of the room, closing the door softly, not daring to stand and listen to what was said behind the door?
?
?Mary decided that perhaps, the reason she had said goodbye, was that she wished she could simply disappear from that place, and never ?be seen there again. Of course though, that would guarantee that she would not get Henry, but she thought to herself that¡, It didn¡¯t look like Henry was really going to give her any attention anyway, he belong to Rena, and she would just have to face that, she supposed. How she wished she could get above Rena, not even so much to get the doctor, just to have a little pride in life for once; ?i¡¯m so tired of crawling, so tired of being nothing, she mused out loud, as she made her way into her room, and sat in a small chair that was there.???

Rena processed Rena's suggestions while giving Mary a venomous glare. "Stupid girl," she hissed. "It's fortunate for you Henry takes in charity cases or you'd have no prospects what so ever," she vented. Then slid a slight amused smile to Henry, knowing that he would likely marvel again at how well she knew him. He wanted to be good, to be nice so he helped people who needed it.
?
"You and Leti going is very kind, My darling and I appreciate it. To help the poor seamstress, which ever one we can get, I will go as well. I'll just wear my clothes from last night and I'll bring a few of these along and see if it's faster for her to fix these or make me more. I will also place an order for more," she said, thinking aloud.
?
"Then we can continue on our business for the evening while we'll out so we may as well eat here first before we go. No reason to deal with the stupidity of clothes shopping on an empty stomach for any of us," she said, knowing that no regular woman would call clothes shopping stupid, and not caring if Mary noticed that at present.
?
"Get out, stupid Girl," she practically hissed at the maid, gesturing sharply toward the door.?
?
As soon as Mary was gone she sighed and got dressed. "I thought I"d need Leti's help but my own clothes I can handle," she said dryly, half to herself.
?
"Henry, that stupid girl not only looks at you as if she'd like to devour you but she tries to screw me over at the same time. I ought to..."
?
Wrapping the cloak tightly around herself she glanced at the assortment of clothes. "You usually like me in pink and blue. I like black so I'll take some of each to see what can be done," she said, tone now sulky and subdued.
?
"What ever will I do for shoes. Mine aren't exactly suitable either, but I suppose they don't stand out as much as they could. A fast stop at a shoe store I suppose. I hate this sort of thing! So stupid. As if we don't have enough to worry about."
?
She waited for Henry to get dressed, glaring at the clothes as she paced restlessly, finally understanding why her mom did that sometimes.
?
When Henry was ready, she opened the bedroom door, one hand on her cloak and knocked on Leti's door. The bar maid opened it almost at once and her expression was relieved at seeing who it was. Her eyes widened when Rena bit out a few sentences explanation of why they had to go clothes shopping. She shook the arm full of clothes angrily and Leti's eyes went rounder.
?
"You ain't going to fit those and Dr. 'Enry is right. Makin' them suitable may take a bit. IF'in you're lucky she'll have something else on hand or be havin' a few tricks up her sleeves to make things go faster." The red head looked doubtful, though.
?
"I'll take those for you, Miss Rena," she said, taking the arm load of clothing.
?
Rena sighed. They were heavy, but she was stronger than Leti. Still it would look more suitable if Leti carried them she supposed. "Sorry," she muttered and Leti merely raised her brows in confusion as they headed down stairs.
?
"I ordered coffee and food hopefully she can't screw that up," Rena said darkly.

Henry Hyde wondered if his Rena was particularly hostile to Mary, or if her tone merely indicated the required amount of distance between servants and masters. He did not mind either way, and merely enjoyed her ladylike manners thus far.
?
His amusement at Rena's cold tones vanished quickly though when he realized a minor confrontation might be ahead. He could have smoothed things over, but putting himself between two women, even if one of them was under his command, was usually ill advised.
?
"I could send my footman with those cloths and some money to a seamstress.?Of course?in London, this would be the season most good ones are busy. So it would take some time, and an hour might not cut it. If you wish, I could accompany Leticia on my own while you wait here for the mended cloths to arrive. If we just measure your waist and hips and such, I imagine the seamstress should be able to work with those measurements?even in your absence. Not that I know a great deal about cloths," Henry admitted honestly with an unabashed shrug. His?pleasure was usually at stripping them off, not putting them on after all, ?There ought to have been some solution, but he never met a person who had no clothes of any kind, and had no grand idea on how to deal with the problem.?

Rena stared at the clothing, unable opt keep the dismay and perplexity frown her face. So many items to put on. She would need to ask that Leti come in and help her. The fabrics all seemed nice, but..."These all look huge," she said, unable, once again to keep the dismay from her face. She had no idea Mary had gotten Henry's mother's clothes as the woman was rather stately in size to Rena's tiny frame.
"What ever made you think I could fit these," she demanded, light blue eyes moving from the clothes to Mary. She glanced briefly at Henry,, wondering what in the world she'd do. ?Mary listened and nodded to the words of the mistress. Clothing, coffee, and¡, Culinary, something to eat, very good, mistress, I shall attend to the clothing?first, the others will quickly follow. ? She was young, light on her feet, and she knew the place quite well, all of this served to make her able to make good timing. She soon returned, caring several articles of clothing.
?
?Each article of clothing hung neatly on its own rack, and she gracefully handed the racks to Rena, here we are, mistress, I trust you will find this satisfactory, as there are several different colors and styles. ? ?The colors ranged from everything from?solid black, black and white, various shades of green, blue, purple, pink and red, all in various combinations. There were dresses, as well as beautiful pairs of slacks and matching shirts, everything matched.
?
?She would await a response from Reena, before bowing and stating, I shall now go and attend to your other requests. She left to make the coffee, and prepare their dinner in the library. The dinner would consist of roasted chicken, roast beef, various vegetables, fresh hot homemade rolls, and a rather large cake for dessert. ? The cake was chocolate, covered generously with white frosting, and filled with a pudding like cream filling, which one did not notice, until having ?cut and eaten a piece of the cake. ? The filling?was vanilla at this time, to match the frosting, Mary sometimes made it chocolate filling, but did not wish to provide what some called?chocolate overload, so she made it vanilla.
?
?
?She ran back to the room, knocked, and called, ?my Lord and my lady, your coffee and your dinner are ready. She then took a shortcut and hurried back to the library, and poured 3 cups of coffee, one for the Doctor, one for Rena, and one for the guest. ? ?She could have poured the coffee first, but it would have likely cooled considerably by the time they got to the library.
