Re: Calling on the Doctor (Leti/Pool/Mary/etc)
?Immediately after Rena had finished speaking, there was a soft knock at the door, breakfast and coffee for you, Mary called. ? ?She slowly opened the door to enter, thinking that, since the breakfast had already been ordered, there was likely no need to wait ?to be granted entry. She entered first, carrying a huge tray with plates of eggs, bacon, bread, and cheese. Pool entered???after her, carrying a small pot of coffee, with cups, ?and Jean, another servant known for being extra quiet, came in with a large plate ?of??various fruit. The servants quietly placed there ?various trays?on the table, then went about, pouring coffee, and offering to serve anyone who would like breakfast. ? ?What will you have, ma¡¯am? Mary asked Leti ?first, since she was a guest. She then went to Rena,?and for you, my lady? Jean, meanwhile, was pouring coffee for Henry, and offering it to the others, while Pool ?offered fruit to anyone who desired it. He would await their responses before instructing the others, all right, come along, ?let us disturb the master, his lady, and their guest no further. ? There would again be just enough time for any responses, before the three servants ?bowed,?and??exited the room, ?to be seen no more during that time, unless they were called. If anyone wanted seconds on what was there, they would have to serve themselves.???? ???????

Van Helsing ?turned to regard Klaus ?with a compassionate, and rather surprised expression as he gave a slow nod. ? Katarina..., ?oh, IC, she has a beautiful name, and I¡¯m sure she will be a beautiful person once she is turned again, as you say. ? I shall do my best by her, the doctor continued, but I must tell you that it may be considerably more difficult if she herself¡, Does not want to be turned at present. ? ? The potion is largely scientific in nature, finding traces of the former genetic structure and cell structure of the person, and replicating those structures, but¡, It also works partially from the desire and the will of a person. ? ?All we can do is try, but the fact that you want to help her, shows that you truly care, unlike former assumptions that others still hold, and that I myself used to hold about your kind.???

Re: Revelations (Klaus/Amara/Valerie/Van Helsing)
"It isn't me," Klaus told VanHelsing quietly.
?
"It isn't me who needs to be turned human again. IT is another named Katarina. She was a good decent person until she was turned against her will. This happens to so many but I have a fondness for her and would very much like to give her her life back. I didn't do the turning, but I still feel partly responsible for...some things in her life," he explained truthfully.
?
"It would make me very happy were she to become human again. Becoming a vampire turned her cold and hard and made her lose her mind a little. I believe restoring her mortality would fix all that and the world would be a better place with her in it as a mortal."
?
Once again he relished with deep amusement the complete truth he spoke on that. Katarina was going to do so much good as a mortal. So very much good.

Van Helsing ?nodded to the comment about trust, indeed, trust on both sides is necessary for this to work. To the comment about history he also noted, yes, and it is said that those who do not learn from history will soon repeat it. ? ?He looked considering when asked about bringing a vampire there to begin the experiments, I would like that very much, but¡, The werewolf¡, I do not know how he would respond. ? ?I want to also experiment on calming?werewolves as we were discussing earlier, but, for now I want to give priority to the experiment on turning you back to human again. So, it might be best if you hold the vampire and make him comfortable in another house, he paused, adding, him or, her. ? ?If you think the subject would be more comfortable coming here, then by all means, bring him here, the doctor added, but for my part, I think it would be better to have this done in a separate house. I could come, and bring everything I need for the experiment; please make certain that the subject understands I mean no harm to anyone. ???

"Well trust on all? sides is surely cautious considering the...history involved," Klaus said smoothly.
"But we all wish to learn and grow and improve?so this should end up being mutually beneficial. It seems we have done a great deal tonight...but? the experiment? of turning one of us human once again. the? thing closest? to at least my heart and yours," he told the? doctor, "If I bring you a vampire? to begin the? experiment on will you be ready? I could also hold them in another house and have you come there. Which ever would be? most comfortable for you."

?The doctor listen with interest to what Amara?was saying to Klaus, ? Occasionally making notes as he listened, as this was a habit of his. He often study the notes from time to time, never knowing when one might yield a flash of inspiration, or even just an idea that was worth being tested. ? ?I want you to be able to trust me though, he continued, ? I mean you no ill will, and certainly no harm. ? ?Any and all testing can wait until you are thoroughly comfortable with such experiments, looking at the others he added, the same goes for the rest of you. ?

Re: Revelations (Klaus/Amara/Valerie/Van Helsing)
¡°I¡made her do this?¡± Amara could hardly believe herself capable of causing a person to think her someone else but was in no position to argue as she was in need of a better understanding of what just happened. She slid a look toward the others then shifted her focus back to Klaus with one eyebrow carefully raised.
?
She breathed easier seeing that no one appeared upset by what she'd done outside of the woman who fled in response. Tipping her head slightly in thought with her gaze lingering on the gentleman she trusted. Could he be right in believing this¡talent of hers might be useful? If anything good came of her decision to drink that potion so long ago she would be surprised.
?
¡°Perhaps you could teach me?¡± The brunette inquired with a hint of hope as she desperately wanted to have some measure of control in one area of her life since it was obvious the rest was beyond her ability to do so.
?
¡°I don't think he is. I mean, it felt different than when I am approached by¡spirits.¡± She spoke the last word a bit hesitantly still adjusting to life as she knew it. To be able to retreat into herself was such a temptation but it wouldn't stop the debilitating pain or countless spirits from being drawn to her.
?
It was something to be considered though she couldn't begin to say that her abilities were capable of calming these¡these werewolves. But she supposed she would make a go of it if the opportunity arose.
?
?
?
?
?
?
?
?
?
Valerie listened with interest to the conversation taking place when during a moment of inspiration she got an idea. One that would solve the mystery of what the reckless woman had seen when looking at Amara, only she was a bit reluctant to open herself up to something like that with there being certain faces she didn't wish to see ever again.
?
Ignoring the bits about the implied relationship the good doctor had with his lady friend as she wasn't particularly interested.
?
?
?
?
?
?
Amara turned looking to the doctor when he expressed an interest in the idea of her abilities being tested on werewolves. Her brown eyes slowly returned to Klaus ?and then back to Van Helsing. It was a situation she wasn't quite certain she felt comfortable placing herself in with lingering doubts about his intentions. ?

Re: Revelations (Klaus/Amara/Valerie/Van Helsing)
Van Helsing ?nodded to Valeries supposition that ?facts about ???much of their kind were largely out of the realm of science. ??His expression was sober and thoughtful as he replied, yes regrettably, at least for now. ? ? ?He returned ? Klaus¡¯s ?smile, lady friend? Well yes, but not in the way you might think, lady¡, Definitely yes, friend, yes, but¡, He gave a slight shrug, then chuckled. ? ?He was somewhat distracted as he listened to all of this, trying to figure it out, how it could be tested, studied by science, and utilized, but his interest peaked, and this showed on his face at the mention of calming werewolves. ? ? He looked at Amara, his eyes showing definite interest; yes, if you agree to this, once you have gained a bit more mastery over this talent, I should like to test it, I shall have to figure out away however, he knew it meant angering the werewolf somehow and then having her use her power to come him. ? ?Perhaps not, angering¡, He thought to himself, rather, exciting, stimulating somehow, then using her power to calm him. ? ? This is all so fascinating, he told the others, you¡¯re kind has various talents and abilities that we mortal humans have not stopped to consider, because we have been much too busy living by fear, and letting that fear dictate our actions. He gave a slight shrug, regrettable indeed. ? ? ?But I am thinking, with more knowledge, all of that will change, at least for the most part.?????

"She seemed to see someone,"Klaus told Amara.
?
"She saw someone that we did not. Someone in your place. She didn't seem upset by them, so it must be? someone she cares for. more apologetic for perhaps what that man would consider her admittedly dangerous behavior considering present company along with her brashness. She? seemed surprised o see him and confused, but you had a good grip on her mind," he concluded, nearly admiringly.
?
"Once that is trained I think you shall find it a useful talent indeed," he mused crisply.
?
"However...he did not seem to be dead. I would think she would have had a more tearful or joyful or even frightened reaction? to a dead man so perhaps someone still among the living, at least the vampiric living that she would simply be surprised to see show up here. Then when she understood that we were seeing you instead she became...Understandably frightened," he concluded with a slight smile.
?
"This is a rare talent...indeed unheard of.
?
He hose to ignore the doctor's question as it was not relevant and hopefully the man had more to occupy his mind over Klaus's mood.
?
"Perhaps you could even use it to calm werewolves," Klaus added, thoughts of the doctor's work and amara's abilities merging in an unexpected way. The man was a scientist so if Amara wished to test her limits over the next few weeks, she would have a good and likely safe opportunity to do so.
?
When the? doctor called after thee young woman to return, Klaus gave him a slight smile.
?
"I'm sure your...lady friend will return eventually," he said, a slight knowing smirk in his gaze.
?
"Unfortunately for her, she doesn't seem the type to frighten for long."

Amara stared in complete bewilderment at the empty spot where the woman had been standing until only a moment ago. Her brow furrowed as she attempted to work through what just happened. But at seeing their faces she knew they had no more idea than she did.?

Re: Calling on the Doctor (Leti/Pool/Mary/etc)
Letti nodded gratefully, murmuring her thanks and letting out a silent breath of relief that she'd not been dismissed without being herd. She needed to understand what had happened in the bar last night and she hoped the couple could explain it. Unbidden as he took a seat her mind returned to rena's shocking lack of clothing under that cloak. No wonder she'd kept it wrapped around herself all night as if cold!
?
?
And what was under it looked nothing like underthings neither. Leti glanced in awe around the fine room. The doctor's home was as fine as could be expected and made her feel dirty, common and worn. Glancing down at her dress of green embroidered flowers she straightened the skirt, feeling a rush of shame at the common cloth. She knew the dress was neither dirty nor tattered, but it rather felt both against the rich brocade of the straight back chair of ornately carved wood on which she sat.
?
Once alone her gaze dropped to her wrist. It still hurt and had the thin man's finger marks on it. Rubbing at it idly she waited pensively.
?
?
Upstairs, Rena cast about for her clothes, hoes and cloak as soon as the bedroom door was closed. No time to wait for the clothes she'd ordered Mary to? procure so it was going to have to be the cloak that covered her. She'd look odd but decent she thought with a resigned? sigh.
?
"I fear there is trouble," she told Henry as she dressed.
?
"I don't know what kind, but perhaps she'll bring answers. I...I did want to be here? with you, more than anything, but I arrived in an unexpected way. I meant to share with you last night then we were too drunk so it was to be this morning, only after? actual sleep," she lamented with a sigh, strapping her cell phone case to her thigh. It was the only proof she had other than her word and she'd need it to show both of them.
?
Once Henry was dressed she took his arm as they proceeded downstairs. Her need to touch him...a lot was still the same, an odd comfort. She found her? gaze traveling?regretfully over his body as they proceeded. If only they had a late morning together as she'd hoped for.
?
once in the room with Leti, Rena's gaze took the girl in quickly, gauging that the other young woman seemed unharmed.
?
"I've ordered breakfast and coffee as I figured we'd all need it, and privacy after," she said.
?
"What happened?"
?
Leti bit at her lip and glanced toward the door.
?
?
"I figure I should wait on that, but in part I don't exactly...know. I am so sorry for wakin' you both at such an hour but I was frightened."
?
Rena struggled not to groan and drop her face into her hands and instead nodded.
?
"I hate to say it but I relate...to the not knowing. But hopefully sharing information will help us shed some light on things."

Re: Calling on the Doctor (Leti/Pool/Mary/etc)
Pool looked bewildered at all the speaking that Henry was doing, he slowly shook his head at the question, no sir, she would not disclose the nature of the emergency, only saying that it is in fact, urgent, and she needs to see you immediately. He nodded then as the doctor gave instructions, and also to those given by Rena. ? ? Very well, my Lord, my lady, Pool ?replied, ?I shall escort her to one of the guestrooms, used for only the most private of conversations, and I shall see you have refreshments as well. ? With that, he bowed to both of them, and left the room, closing the door softly behind him.
?
Mary, Pool said to the young serving girl, ?please prepare the East wing guest room, and serve breakfast and coffee, the master and mistress have a visitor. ? What? So early in the bloody morning, was Mary¡®s reply. Mysentiments exactly, dear girl, but it is such as it is, now please be about your business, I must go and attend upon this poor, distraught young woman, who seems to be in the most fragile state of mind.
?
Pool breezed by Mary with a briskNess and efficiency??that afforded no argument, and gave a great example of one who worked with no nonsense. ? He was soon back at the gate, Miss Leti, The master and mistress will see you shortly. They have instructed me to escort you to one of our guest rooms, used for the most honored guests, and the most private conversations. If you please to come with me, I will escort you there, and you may wait until the doctor and his lady appearance; if you please, follow me. ?He let her down many hallways, past the kitchen, where Mary and a few of the other servants were busily preparing breakfast, as well as making coffee. The smells of the food and coffee permeated the hallways, and the guest room. Here you are, my lady, pool stated, pulling out a chair for Letty.? ???

Re: Calling on the Doctor (Leti/Pool/Mary/etc)
They were still half drunk and certainly had not gotten enough sleep. This was not good. And shit she had no clothes yet! Rena peered blearily around the still dim room for the clothes she did have as they were better than nothing. She would wrap up in the cloak again, as even if it looked odd, it would not show her legs which was apparently a thing in this day and age. Sighing she resigned herself to a day of discomfort before her mind moved to worrying about what ever could have brought Leti here now. She had promised to explain the clothing thing at the dinner party so what? Unless who ever had put her back here had noticed their befriending of the bar maid and taken an interest. That? served to wake her up a bit as a serge of adrenaline rushed through her body.
?
?
"Shit," she breathed under her breath before calling out to Pool.
?
"Yes, have her wait in the most private room for visitors there is and see to breakfast and coffee for all 3 of us, please. Once we are all together and served we re not to be disturbed for any reason."
?
The last thing they'd need was the bloody servants popping in to see if they needed refills. Whatever this was it could not be good.

Henry Hyde stared at Poole for a few seconds, bewildered. He had to process all of this. He did remember the Leti girl, she seemed to have an entirely different outlook on things. But..."I was half joking when I suggested she would..." he found himself unexpectedly speaking out?loud, and realizing he was about to say what Poole was not supposed to know. Of course if it really come down to her murdering Victor...He may have thought it a joke, but she, how would he covertly inquired about blood covering her clothes?
?
Realizing Poole should have informed him if it were THAT serious, Henry shrugged the idea off as him being still half asleep. Of course now he may have made the wrong impression with his careless words. "Nothing untoward of course, Rena was there with me, and it was all social and nothing else," he spoke unnecessarily, not sure who would be overhearing this and what rumors might spread as a result.
?
"So, I guess she did not tell you the nature of the emergency? I am afraid I am not very presentable right now. I will need a little while to prepare myself, escort her to the guest room in the mean time. Some refreshments, some entertainment of light hearted books, whatever she needs, we will be right there," Hyde concluded, finally with more decisiveness. |

I again attempted to persuade her to pursue her cause at a??more convenient hour,?one more befitting and friendly to the both of you, but she would not hear of it¡, She insists, sir, that it is of upmost importance and urgency that she speak to you and Lady Rena?He paused, then asked, what shall I tell her, sir??She would not say, or even partially disclose the matter of her urgency.

Re: Family Drama (Mircea/Nadia)
Mercia was silent for several steps as he considered his sister's words. Tragedy.
?
"But who could possibly cause us harm. You've seen what has befallen those who have attempted or even considered attempting it. I will try to contact father, though. I'll send a few messenger bats to find him," he decided.
?
"See if he'll take my help."
?
He smiled at Nadia, though the expression didn't touch his eyes.
?
Would that make you feel better?"
?
The sudden sound of foot steps behind them caused him to fall silent if he would have said more on the matter. He would not have bothered glancing back over his shoulder if he had not sensed the rapidly gaining presence was that of?another vampire. Not the one who had sat with his sister in the tavern either.
?
?
The man came up fast on Nadia's other side before Mercia could turn his head, though, saving him the trouble. The vampire was one Mercia had never seen before. Of that he was certain. A short stocky bull of a man with unrefined features, too much hair and? a heavy flaring cloak that draped and surrounded his form like batwings. Awful fashion sense, he thought with an inner cringe, not in the mood to be friendly or particularly social with a likely mad vampire.
?
?
?
The vampire gave a tight smile and thrust? a black rose into Nadia's hand.
?
"I do wonder....when your parents are gone, will you reign over the Tepes vampire empire or will your brother kill you for it...or....or perhaps break you, and leave you in the family dungeon...You shall likely bloom nicely in the dark. your beauty unfading like a black night orchid. The rose is the first flower in a series of mourning that you should carry for your many losses to come."
?
?
Already incensed by the suggestion that he would harm Nadia, Mercia had had enough. Lunging for the vampire with a growl of fury he found himself flying back too his own shock. He had neither seen or felt the fist that struck him in the gut faster than fast, knocking him back onto the cobblestones. In less than an instant, he had been in mid lunge, then he was flat on his back and his attacker gone without a trace save for the black rose he had left in his wake.
?
"Drop that it could be poison," he snapped even before bothering to rise.
?
The flower was likely a symbol rather than a direct attack on his sister, but she was the eldest, and perhaps some vampire in power would wish to frame Mercia for his sister's demise.
?

Several streets away in a matter of seconds, Sariel paused under the eaves of a manor to enjoy the surge of elation that was rushing through him. The blood and power of all those old ones he had killed sang through him more sweetly than any adrenaline rush?could. It had served him well thus far.?He had been faster than one of the most powerful vampires at least for a moment! Not enough long term, but if he kept hitting fast, weakening them with paranoia and fear, whittling down at them, with patients and caution and the proper placement of skills and retreats, he just may have a chance at full revenge.
?
?
He had struck at Katarina and 2 of her children in less than 24 hours! That felt amazing. Only the look of hurt in HER eyes had shaken him and still stuck in his mind a little, serving to dampen his joy in fleeting instances, but in time she would know and understand.

Nadia so wished that all these concerns would become little more than background noise as it would make things so very much simpler. She hadn't set out to be so worried when their family made the trip here but it happened all the same. Her head turned slightly when her brother next spoke.?
?
¡°I know, it's just¡if this were something limited to recent history it would not worry me so, but this has been brewing over the last century.¡± There were moments when she almost considered asking questions but for fear of making things worse between her parents had not.?
?
She appreciated his attempt at lightening the mood, offering a brief smile, then staring ahead in silence for several seconds. ¡°You can it in her eyes when she looks at father or speaks of him that is not the case. She still loves him very much. There's just a sadness and this¡distance now.¡±
?
The more she thought on it, the more she wished she could shake their father for his absence. It was his job to hold the family together. Not hers. So, why wasn't he doing it?
?
¡°Last I spoke with one of the clan elders, it would seem something has gotten Elisabeta all worked up. She keeps telling them that trouble is in the wind and that tragedy is sure to strike in regards to our family.¡± It wasn't so easy to dismiss the old woman's predictions as more often than not they came to pass.?

Re: Revelations (Klaus/Amara/Valerie/Van Helsing)
Valerie debated on how much to reveal then decided there was little harm in offering enlightenment on the matter of her magic. ¡°I was born a witch, however, I possessed no real power of my own only that which I could siphon from others. But after I was turned it was as if I were given this¡limitless power source that I was able to channel.¡± She gave a slight shrug of her shoulders, supposing it made as much sense as any other explanation she might come up with.
?
With a slight turn of the head she looked in the doctor¡¯s direction when he spoke of ones actions mattering far more than whatever label society provided. Perhaps he was a bit more open minded than first realized and she might have commented to that effect were it not for the odd behavior of his friend.?

?
Amara tilted her head with a look of confusion at the sudden shift in demeanor as initially she was unaware of having invaded the woman's mind. It took only a moment for the wheels to begin turning as she recalled the bits of memory she'd witnessed that were not her own. This particular talent of hers was one made use of through the centuries to guard against madness but she hadn't even thought of using it since being revived.?
?
She couldn't understand why the dark haired woman reacted so as with past experiences those who came close enough to her sarcophagus seemed blissfully unaware of her getting inside their heads. So, what changed? Why could she not see her?
?
?
?
?
?
?
?
?
Valerie slowly looked between the two women as if attempting to piece together some form of explanation for such an odd reaction when there was seemingly nothing even the slightest bit out of place. All she could see was an equally as confused Amara standing there though there was a flicker of something. Realization, perhaps? But of what?
?
Her focus shifted back to Natari with one eyebrow raised questioningly. ¡°It¡¯s¡who?¡± Did she also possess the ability to see those trapped on the Other Side? It would explain the odd behavior as at times such behavior was exhibited by Amara though she very much doubted that were the case with this one.
?
If it were not for the fact she had as of yet not taken a liking to the doctor¡¯s reckless friend she might well have pursued her in the name of making sure the obviously shook up woman was alright. Instead her attention returned to Klaus with the occasional glance towards each of the others.?
?
¡°I could, of course, be in correct but I suspect our friend has hidden¡talents. Ones she herself may not be fully aware of.¡± Part of what Natari had said stuck with her and not doubt her mind would keep going back to it.? |
