Locked Re: No Place Like London (Oliver/Nadia)

Oliver's flat gaze narrowed in mild interest when Nadia spoke of this place not being the most safe for their kind.
?
"I have lived on the outskirts of London for centuries and I am fine as you can see," he said dryly with only the slightest twist to his lips.
?
"Granted I am quite the recluse most times, so perhaps that is why..."
He leaned forward slightly, gaze becoming suddenly intently curious.
?
"Tell me, though. If it is so dangerous, what are you doing here?"
?
The question was lightly put, not demanding but?generally perplexed.
?
As both gazed at the bar maid behaving oddly, Oliver's gaze became more focused.
?
"I don't know, but perhaps I should find out."
?
He rose and moved across the room at a regular human pace rather than the quicker than the eye could follow stride of a vampire. Knowing that Nadia's vampire hearing would allow her to pick up on the conversation he turned to the bar maid who had cringed back at his presence. Catching her gaze again he asked,"Why the odd behavior?"
?
?
The young woman's eyes showed fear and she rubbed at her wrist again.
?
"Because I don't remember," she said, and he nodded.
?
"Good. And nor will you remember this."
?
Looking away he asked for more wine, though he'd not touched his former glass, instead holding it all night and pretending to sip at it from time to time.
?
She nodded and hurried away as he returned to the table.
?
"Well...She remembers nothing, and as I unfortunately left a mark on her wrist she remembers that something did happen. She likely recalls me calling her over."
?
He looked thoughtful, pausing for a second before continuing.
?
"As we were curious as to the dress issue and the odd couple I think I'll let it lie as it were. Perhaps they will return on the morrow. Perhaps we should ass well. If they don't or if nothing happens, well then."
?
He shrugged.
?
"That is just that. On the other hand, perhaps they are part of the danger you speak of in the city so a brief investigation couldn't hurt."
?
And now the conversation had turned readily back to that point, as to why the city was a danger.
I'm friends with the monster that's under my bed.
I get along with the voices inside of my head.
