Re: Back at the Hotel (a call for help)
"You may want to summon Azzie,"Halbrek told Castiel.
"He'll trust you. And I think he knows as you know what he is doing, that you'd not call were it not important."
She wanted to ask Lucifer more of what he was planning with Ashtaroth but knew better than too think he'd tell her so didn't give him the satisfaction of refusing.
?
"How important is restraining the tree," she asked instead.
"Should it be? top priority in itself?" I'm friends with the monster that's under my bed. I get along with the voices inside of my head. |

Castiel somberly nodded, accepting Halbrek's explanation and sharply turned back to Lucifer at his inexplicable gale of laughter. ? "Is?it just me, or are you growing smarter by the minute because of?my presence in your vicinity. Not just you, him too, I guess, oh my. Children. I don't want the two faggots to destroy themselves. I want them to be functional again. And to do so, I must encourage their resilience. You probably know who their adversary is. I don't care about him specifically either way, but he knows how to exploit weaknesses and will do just that with the two misguided demons. What else can I do if not help them prune out their vulnerability in advance, before the time comes when I need them, and they fall prey to the enemy's pathetically uninspired trap?" Lucifer demanded?with a smug smile. |

"You're right of course,"Halbrek told Castiel with a nod.
"If Lucifer summoned him, Azzie would know it was no trap, however. And Sceerg is deadly enough to guard on his own for a little I should think."
?
Halbrek had noticed...a lack of expression on Lucifer's part when his hell duke was mentioned...which made her suspicious.
?
"Would you please summon Azzie for us? And...I do have a question."
?
Expression now grave and laced with suspicion she met his eyes as much as one could hold Lucifer's gaze.
?
"Why are you forcing Ashtaroth and Greyshadow to destroy themselves?"

Re: Back at the Hotel (a call for help)
Castiel intently regarded Lucifer. trying to gauge the depth of his commitment and the pitfalls involved and then unable to decide, turned back towards Halbrek. "Well, the normal practice, especially when we're in a hurry is simply to summon Azzie, to alert him of our interest in him, and then release him from the summoning circle. But that hardly seems possible now. From what I understand, the miserable little?fox has a never ending guarding duty. He would not be answering any summons, because you never know what could be contrived as a convincing decoy. In truth the entire thing is so ridiculous. it could be made up by an interested party," the angel?of war ? suspiciously looked at Lucifer who noticed the glance and only smirked in response, neither confirming nor denying his involvement in the Ashtaroth affair. ? "I suppose we might have to go there in person, because?when they seem me directly, they will know we need their help in earnest. By them, I mean Azzie and Sceerg of course, I highly doubt the other two friends would bestir themselves for anything smaller than a definite end?of the world, and possibly not even then. We would probably have to descend in our invisible forms, to avoid detection from the other realms we'll be passing on our there, then manifest at the entrance to Fire Realm. I was told they have some security issues and must?check out any visitor these days. At least a?charge of mine was under an impression of this kind, could be faster if their alarms simply recognize use and allow us to pass quickly through..."?Castiel seriously considered the plan. Perhaps, with great attention to detail than before, in case Lucifer had prepared for an eventuality like this and set some traps for the unwary down there. ? Lucifer slowly shrugged in response to Halbrek's question,?amused by Castiel's thoroughness at first, he?instantly got bored and was ready to move on. "I don't need a formalized agreement at any rate. It is just for your sake. By getting down to business I mean that you, children, should quickly move on?with whatever petty reassurances you need. You know my needs, I know yours, that is all the list I need for my own sake. How the rest goes is up to you. Only whatever you do, you might want to do it quickly, in case your little emergency requires speedy solutions..." Lucifer ominously grinned but decided against further elaboration. Sometimes the mystery factor left to the imagination could be just as stimulating as any explicitly stated details after all. ? ?? |

Re: Back at the Hotel (a call for help)
"Down to business,"Halbrek asked, hand still in Castiel's.
It was odd dealing with demons, considering each angle when she was so accustom to working alone.
"What does hat involve. You want to write up a contract, a list of things you need done? What?"
?
Turning to Castiel she nodded.
"Azzie I think. He is the most cunning of those we can trust excluding your close friend who won't be useful any time soon."
She smirked at Lucifer, wondering how much he knew about that, and gave her head a small shake.
?
"Can you contact him or how does that work," she asked Castiel of Azzie Elbub, the fox demon in question.

Re: Back at the Hotel (a call for help)
The angel of war dubiously regarded each of his companions in turn. He simply could not be sure of how much he could say openly without uncovering his attempt at subterfuge. Halbrek may have forced his hand prematurely but that could in itself serve as a sign. It probably was too much unfounded hope on his part to attempt a deception against the father of lies. It would probably have ended in a similar way regardless of the path taken. It probably even spared him the trouble of exerting an unlikely effort only to see his hopes dashed later on and be back at square one. Yes, it did seem like a favor upon continued consideration, which allowed him to speak his mind openly, as he was used to. ? "Well dearest Halbrek, there is little doubt we can ever hope to get the better of him or bind him in any manner with or without external help. Maybe Metatron,?being the?first to uncover Enochian sigils could hope to craft a binding spell, but?the task is probably too complex for the likes of us. No, my hope was to see through the legal mumbo jumbo. We, being an involved party, might not see things quite as clearly and?agree to something we cannot reasonably expected to do. I am more worried about us unintentionally binding ourselves, than any binding created on him. An outside expert, be it Azi or Sceerg, could be helpful in reading between the lines since they are not bogged down by all the minutia he?obviously wishes to confuse us with..." Castiel declared seriously, to Lucifer's evident amusement. ? "Such distrust, children. I could be hurt by it, were I somebody else. A good thing I am not of course," Lucifer announced with a smirk and in a more casually manner dropped the hints of concessions he was ready to make at any rate. "Well, since we must work together, I shall agree to the scrutiny you propose, all in the interests of greater good, because you know how altruistic I am. So, shall we get down to business then?" The Lord of Fire impatiently wondered. ?? |

"First of all, I know why Ashtaroth is indisposed. I helped as much as I could with that. It's how Castiel and I met," Halbrek told Lucifer dryly.
?
"And there are others...I could call upon Sceerg or Azi. Azi is the most useful in such things I believe."
?
She turned to Castiel with a tired strained smile. Lucifer was beginning to give her a hadache and she didn't think getting one of those was her thing or truly possible.
?
"Azi could do a contract like that if anyone could...but human lawyers?"
She laughed, shrugging.
"How would you expect Lucifer to be bound to such a contract even were we to actually find a lawyer to do it," she asked, truly interested in case castiel knew some way to bind the fallen angel to his word that she did not. It was still an angelic matter after all, and though she was more learned in such than most demons Castiel would surely know more.
?
She slipped a hand into the angel's to show her support, while wondering what he thought Lucifer would want to thwart of their plans...what plans they even currently had as it felt to her that they were floundering...however she would not state as much in front of Lucifer. She was wise enough to know not to give him any edge and one never knew where Lucifer would find an edge...or hell even create one.

Re: Back at the Hotel (a call for help)
Lucifer slowly nodded his agreement. "Hiding is very useful on more than one occasion. It is about avoiding enemies, true, But it is also about removing myself from the picture so that my adversaries would show their hand, and allow me to plot against them. My hiding does not indicate cowardice by any means, it is a tool that allows me to play at my convenience, to counter the most dangerous moves behind the scenes, and to test the loyalty of my subordinates as well as their ability to function independently. I think I am rather gifted at hiding, and intend to continue with what works indefinitely, without having to apologize about it... ? Ashtaroth is a very capable demon actually and you could have chosen worse than summoning him, provided of course you have improved you social since the last time I saw you, and this day can count as such time, for the sake of gauging your improvement. But even if you were so inclined as to work in tandem with my brave Duke of Hell, well, he just might be a little indisposed right now, not for any dire reasons at least," Lucifer knowingly grinned, not minding if his joke was lost on present company. ? ?"Killirek, don't make me laugh, what can you expect from him? Truly, your choices of allies are sparse, and the fact that you can only name a few prospective allies is not only sad, but also points to the fact of how?lazy you are, or perhaps how arrogant.?I respect that, as you well know, pride is my domicile, but all that huffing and puffing is unnecessarily when you don't have too much variety in choosing the most helpful of allies. As I said, I?do not anticipate any kind of slavery on your behal, only mutual cooperation, and the best kind of it is the one that leaves everybody a little dissatisfied. I, for one, am dissatisfied with your aptitude,?and I do have other agents, but I would still appreciate more...associates to help me out. That is the sum total of my proposal..." Lucifer idly concluded as if he had not a care in the world. ? Castiel regarded him slowly and?slowly voiced his impression. "Well, there were less parts where he could prevaricate, but I think he still manages somehow. I feel his strategy here may have been with omission more so than direct subterfuge this time...Strange that it reminds me of the energy fluctuations in my human charges. How can it be, is that intentional," Castile mused out loud at first and then remembering where he was at the subtle smirk of the?Fallen Angel skeptically concluded. ? "At least the omissions should not cost us as dearly as outright evasions of truth. If we formulate our agreement carefully and leave no loopholes, what if we question a human lawyer about a possible contract," the angel of war wondered suddenly. "Dean was telling me they are brilliant at that kind of a thing, that they could give even him a run for his money...Or are there better means to control the mischief he causes," Castiel?turned towards Halbrek, not bothering to hide his concern. ? "I don't object to working with him despite everything, it might be mutually beneficial, but would prefer to have some guaranteed against being thwarted in our intentions, especially if it is for some sick reason like his perverse pleasure," Castiel added and hastily turned away from the satisfied Lucifer smile that could otherwise enrage him?enough to make him reckless.???? ? |

Re: Back at the Hotel (a call for help)
"I am not afraid,"Halbrek snapped out.
"If I were, I'd not be making wars. I would be hiding like a little bitch...ah that is, perhaps in the way in which you hide now?"
?
She took her gaze from Castiel then and turned to Lucifer, frowning and obviously angry if calmly so.
"Ah yes I am certain you have other reasons for hiding like a little bitch and perhaps allowing things to get as far as they have as a result...this end of the world business we're all having to bother with now, that is. Perhaps I should've sought the aid of someone more useful...productively so...Ashtaroth, perhaps, or Kellirek."
?
Neither demon was nearly as strong as Lucifer but nor were they underlings and both knew enough to be of at least some use.
?
She returned her gaze to Castiel once the point had been made. Lucifer had tricke her with illusion because she, unlike Castiel, had believed him. She'd not been willing to do what he wanted, so perhaps it hadn't completely worked. She had not planned to do any of it, but the fact he'd managed to enthrall her enough to believe him...and he was no fool. He knew it surely.
?
?
He? was a far stronger demon. She was no underling but still he was Lucifer...so she had no shame in falling prey to him but Castiel hadn't. He'd won that one and she felt a little annoyed but with herself.
?
?
Lips in a tight line she looked to Castiel for Lucifer's answer...to work with him or not, to believe him or not, for she knew she had an obvious susceptibility.

Re: Back at the Hotel (a call for help)
Lucifer?feebly smiled in response to Castiel's objections and accusations. Ah, children, so delightfully na?ve, so willing to protect their self interest even if it precluded their learning. He was of course in no way deterred by?complaints levelled at him, anticipated them?and simply shrugged in response to Halbrek's endearing sulks. ? "Oh, so you are afraid of every demon equally, and that is why you are not dealing with them, " he sarcastically inquired, but not wishing to waste his time on idle, if pleasurable exchanges, simply dismissed his own words with a casual wave of his left hand. ? "So, let us say, that the rationalization behind why you must help me has not happened yet. It is not an outright lie by any means, but an alternate version of the future. Besides, if I wanted to truly convince you, I would not have clued your lover boy here on the nature of deception itself, a good illustration to the spell of illusion that is going to be cast on the two of you in the near future. And?he will have to shake it off the same way he did here, unless he is unable to do so and the job would be yours. ? At any rate, now that you have officially thanked me for?demonstrating to you the power of illusion you will have to overcome to successfully work for me, the truth is simple. What I showed you?is on the way to almost manifesting into your physical reality. It can be prevented, possibly, but not when there are so many players interested in changing the outcome of this game, I gather. ? In essence, nothing really changed between us. We can still find an agreeable solution to?our mutual problem. My offer of help stands, your assistance, well, I don't believe in coercing it, although I could. It would just spoil my grand game, the nature of which you cannot fathom now, nor in the future. I do not seek to deceive you, make up your own choices, and let me know what you choose. If you wish to risk playing on your own, go ahead, I won't be stopping you..." Lucifer smugly declared, crossing his arms into a comforting position on his chest. His smile grew as hungry as it ever got, because such choices presented him with the most opportunities for?intriguing maneuvers, no matter their outcome. ? ? |

Halbrek blinked, feeling herself drawn back to...normality with Castiel's words. Straightening she glared at Lucifer, snapping her wings closed around her like a cloak.
?
"This is why I don't deal with demons," she hissed.
"This is why I work alone. I do not enjoy being a toy. You should've known that," she reproached Lucifer, turning slightly away.
"I was foolish to summon you...When I saw you...and that disturbing bit of ground I could not explain."
But the tree...it was in that cemetery. So what was he hiding. She stared at Castiel rather than Lucifer, however, as doing so kept her mind clear.
Even though she waited for Lucifer's response she kept her gaze firmly on her lover, the only person in any of the worlds she fully trusted.

Re: Back at the Hotel (a call for help)
Castiel did not need lecturing on the matter of War, or archangels, he thought he had a rather good grasp of?the whole subject himself. But Lucifer's cunning speech did remind him of something. The whole thing, that tree nonsense, whatever things came out of it, strange new races, it almost swayed him, until his objection to Lucifer's lecturing tone reminded him of the truth as he knew it. ? He may not be the most humane of all the angels, but did respect the Father's great work and his own duties required his presence on earth often enough. He did not remember a single darkly growing Tree, the way Lucifer was painting the picture, but a number of tall tree surrounded not only by the imaginary Adam family but by other numerous tribes, and having no?problems cultivating the Trees whatsoever. ? And as far as other races were concerned, Lucifer was?either rewriting the entire history of humanity and this world, or?referring to an entire different period. When Castiel was?freely roaming the less inhabited vistas of the human past, he did notice hints of other races but even then,?however powerful they may have been, they were hiding their other self from the human tribes that had deadly weapons even then, and greater mystical prowess to boot. ? Perhaps Leviathans and Behemoths would not have cared one bit about the numbers of human warriors that?would rise against them, but the higher races already vanished from the face of this world even back then, with few traces left and inaccurate legends to supplement the truth. So, most of what Lucifer just said, about virtually everything, was at least partially?untrue. ? The angel of the war would once dismiss his entire diatribe as fake, but knew to think?in terms of a somewhat greater complexity these days. Lucifer must have mentioned the art of War on purpose, as if he wanted to encourage Castiel to see through the deception he so artfully crafted. And it?has been very effective until then, Castiel started experiencing the vision of what the Fallen Angel?has been mentioning as if he witnessed them himself. He started believing in them. So then, perhaps there was some half truth behind his words, some intention neither he nor Halbrek managed to decipher yet. ? Perhaps crafting the illusion, and encouraging Castiel to break it at the same time was part of?the madness to his method.?As an Angel of the Lord, he was accustomed to simply accosting that which was so patently false, as a protector of imperfect human vessels, he?sometimes had to be careful in what he said, and the angel of war did not know which applied more?in this case. If he followed his idea that Lucifer wanted him to break the?illusion of the semi truth of the past, then perhaps Halbrek should be encouraged instantly to do the same. After all, she probably did not care about humans quite as much?to distinguish between the truth and her leader's fabrications. ? "So, this must be classical Lucifer then," Castiel softly reprimanded, with?a hint of a smile he could otherwise display to demonstrate his triumph at unearthing the truth. "I just realized that I was agreeing with you, with your version of the past, until I remembered it differently. All your talk of war, the need for our help and yet you are lying to us, about something, aren't you? I cannot figure out what is his game, Halbrek, but maybe now that you know he has not been forthright, you can figure it out, since you know him better," the angel firmly stated, not worried about challenging a superior being no matter the cost. |

Re: Back at the Hotel (a call for help)
"Well, that is rather unfortunate on your part. War is the kind of skill that relies on deep understanding of others, on working with them, or at least on them. Sure, parlor tricks work on the weaker minds but if you don't seek to play only the weaker, if you want to move the stronger, you might have to be flexible and learn how to learn other minds, working with them or under them often provides a great motivation and opportunity to learn..." Lucifer's look became speculative a she carefully regarded his Chosen agents. They may not be ready for some revelations just yet, but could be ready for others, if barely. ? "How does one become an arch angel or a demon lord after all, do you think? By being born into the role, sometimes, by being made originally or altered to suit?a particular purpose of a higher being, as I ought to know. But there is also another path, of becoming more powerful, by being the best at what you do, the one who understands all the ins and outs. War is...well, at its highest levels it can be incredibly satisfying, impressively efficient, and yet you have not reached such levels yet. That is why you need me, and I, in turn, could?use both of you. ? I could supply you with?minions, weapons, and opportunities, and hope that one day?either or both of you would be smart enough to take them. Witches could be helpful to you in more than one regard actually, they could guard the tree part of the time, they could seek out some defensive relics, they could occasionally?obey your orders and thus boost your ego, but they could also teach you how to work with others, the one skill you openly and too proudly profess to lack. ? There is a faster route to success, if you would consent to being implanted with something, but something tells me you would reject the idea even though a daughter of Hell should be more trusting of its protector," Lucifer mournfully chided Halbrek?while including the black winged angel in his statement. "So, since I am a little pressed for time and agents, I will let you decide, which path you prefer, the quicker or the slower one..." Lucifer happily concluded, always enjoying humans, angels?or demons either making choices too thoughtfully or too hastily, but always to his advantage. |

"War is what we're used to, not so much working with or for others,"Halbrek replied tightly to Lucifer, annoyed by but not giving way to his all too obvious bating.
?
"It isn't our thing as they say these days. It's not that we can't do it...nor do we care what you think on the matter about our skills one way or the other. And yes, I'm sure all the wonderful things you've heard about us are true," she couldn't help adding, smiling and sliding a look to Castiel?to gauge?the angel's agreement.
?
Looking back to Lucifer? she shrugged and raised a brow.
?
"And you're the one who mentioned witches. I was only going with it."
?
In the end she did nod in agreement about the need to contain the tree, sliding another glance to Castiel.
Idly she wondered what Michael and the other higher ranking angels thought of this tree...and if they'd be willing to help...but that was another conversation to be had at a later time this evening once Lucifer was gone.

Re: Back at the Hotel (a call for help)
Lucifer watched Halbrek's movements with avid interest but he did not?object to?her rejection of the obvious desire. He would not mind being free, naturally, it hasn't happened in some time and he would have lots of fun with freedom when an opportunity presented itself. But in truth, he was rather enjoying the confines of the spell. They placed him in a certain category that he could loosely explore and he was the consummate artist, willing to?invest his utmost creative effort if it implied some kind of an advantage, which in this case, was subtle but just as true. ? "Too much work? I hardly think so. the excuse of?every lazy person since the time of Job or maybe even Adam.?Let me rephrase what you just said to make?your statement more accurate. You find the mission I believed you could handle too difficult. Perhaps rightly so, your reputation may precede both of you, but who is to say it is accurate? Certainly not me. In fact, I applaud your willingness to admit?to such a weakness. Being aware of self limitations is important for projects such as this, where every misstep could lead to a downfall. ? Naturally, being the charitable soul that I am, I would agree to your?change?in terms. Yes, witches could be of service there, and I have an entire coven I could supply you with, unless of course you have some other creatures demanding to serve you and capable of rendering a great service?" Lucifer wondered with a quirked eye brow. Whatever partners Halbrek could potentially come up with, he just knew he would find interesting as well, if not now then later on. ? "At any rate, the Tree is rather dangerous indeed. Being the creative person that I am, I can find multiple uses for it by several parties, not every one of them intending to end the world precisely, but?even the nicely intended agents of unpalatable Chaos might not be able to control what they unleash, so I would rather not?risk the possibility with any?of the demons in question. For those who seek the destruction of our favorite playground directly , they could definitely numerous cohorts of warriors that would be controlled by whichever agency takes possession of the Tree. So it would be in?our best interests to contain the tree,?and you can feel free to use whichever resources you command towards this end..." Lucifer graciously allowed. ? |

Re: Back at the Hotel (a call for help)
Halbrek was listening intently, hastily making mental notes and beginning to feel more than a little overwhelmed which was quite likely Lucifer's intention at least in part. With a sigh she bent to the circle, hand hovering over it, so very tempted tyo rub it out...to create an opening to free the lord of hell so that he may come out and deal with this himself or at least do more of the work than they would have to alone. She straightened and only did not carry through on her very strong urge because she knew it was exactly what he wanted her to do.
?
Not today. There may be a time when such would be necessary but she would not give in so easily. Her smirk and knowing look as she met his eyes was intended to say as much. That she knew and that she didn't mind him knowing it and atht she did have opinions on the matter and plans of her own to carry out.
?
"You give us far too much work for 2 people to do alone. Even 2 such grand and resourceful beings as ourselves," she added only a little tartly.
?
"You think they're using this tree? Those who want to end this world and thus ruin all of our playtime? So thus we must deal with the tree."
?
Rehashing it helped to settle and arrange the complications in her mind in all their fine layers.
?
"You feel we should find witches to assist?"
?
She hoped Cordelia had connections as she had none. Well Castiel but she doubted he hung with witches as it were.
?
Witches moreover who would want the risk of becoming involved in this...oh yes there was always the shpeel of how if they did? not become involved it would be more difficult for everyone later and how they'd suffer right along with the rest of the world were this not stopped, but...getting people involved at a time like this wasn't going to be as easy as it may sound to some and that she knew.

Re: Back at the Hotel (a call for help)
Lucifer began to pace back and forth, reaching all the way to the?summoning circle's boundaries but easily avoiding the pain that often accompanied a breach, due to infallible timing of turning back. "Do you know the story of Cain and Abel, the real one, not the fairy tale of the good son and the bad son? In fact, they were both good sons,?to me?at least, but Abel always was my favorite because of his remarkably unwavering loyalty. He made some of the first sacrifices to me in this land, and I rewarded him in return with all the usual gifts appropriate for he occasion... His flocks flourished, his land extended from?Mesopotamia to the Pillars of Samson,?I even extended him the protection from the non human races of the time, vampires being the least of them, obviously.?I think he was satisfied with the bargain, until the wretched Tree started?growing once again," Lucifer nodded to himself with genuine regret. ? "I honored Abel later for his final sacrifice, there is a sanctuary in his name in the depths of Hell that is immune to prosecutions from almost every demon, my second in command being the?necessary exception to the rule. But all my honors aside, I was temporarily?staying elsewhere and wasn't watching.?So, instead of attempting to reach me first, Abel made the final sacrifice, asking his brother to slay him and sanctify the ground later. His bones did present an effective barrier to the things that crawled out of the Tree, and his blood was?beneficial at first as well...later it only forced a change onto the Tree children that made them so impervious to most human weapons. The unfairness of it all applied to Abel as much as it did to me,?the creatures were later being called Abel's children even though he was the one trying to stop them originally. ? At any rate, his attempt proved rather effective, the Tree has not grown new roots on the earthly soul for millennia, it was forced to branch out into other Realms. And as you say, not many are willing to repeat his experience and leave their mark on the arcane lore in such an unpalatable?manner. Even so, I have a few followers who would give their consent for small or great favors, and with me to supervise the aftermath this time, the deal may be sweetened for the willing ones. The unwilling ones are needed for...balance of sorts," the Lord of Fire dismissively shrugged at the unpleasant notion. ? "In truth, I am not the best with such ideas. The balance is required?through the magical nature of this world. It could probably be best handled by witches instead of me. They were the ones who brought the necessity to my attention. When you think about it, it rather makes sense. The creatures from a different world, changed by the blood of this world. The Tree that grows but not for its own sake. The dead bones?to counteract the encroachment of life. All very plausible and specified in the Book of the Damned apparently, but such thoughts make my stomach ache so I think little about it. Of course, I hold no desire to leave you unprepared for the confrontation, so this is how the Tree's creatures appear when allowed to bring their might into the world..." ? With a wave of his hand,?an image of incredibly tall humanoids showed up in the air. Their features were savage, their bulk considerable,?their bodies covered with furs and headdresses, featuring the heads of unknown enormous animals. "Those were the giants of Legend, until they were changed due to Abel's sacrifice of blood. When he sprinkled his essence onto the ground?surrounding the Tree, the giants also grew thick ridges all?over their bodies. They cannot be seen now due to the furs?they never take off when alive, but such unexpected mutations allows them to survive most human weapons, animal fangs and occasional bolts of lightning. ? They also have some primitive weapons,?probably nothing to worry about, but I never played with them myself. They shouldn't really be a challenge to any angel, even if they make the Earth quake when allowed to walk it, but when they come out?en mass, that becomes problematic for?me. After sufficient waves of them emerge,?older creatures still come after, and eventually one of their warlords, Ningizida, described in some very old books nobody?reads as the third Tribulation..." Lucifer expectantly looked at the couple, testing their memory and only smirked at Castiel's frown of ignorance. ? ? "No matter, when you're ready, I shall teach you the specific boundary spells and then we will practice them on some minions of Moloch's I have been blocking thus far. I shall allow them to enter my?elevated presence and you could make sure they lose sight of you through the usage of boundary spells.?No skill is as full proof as the one tried in the field, I always said," the chief Hell lord smugly declared with a smile. ? ?? |

Re: Back at the Hotel (a call for help)
Halbrek paused in front of Castiel to give him a questioning look then continued her pacing as she listened to Lucifer. HE was getting deep. That meant so was the problem, she concluded with an inner sigh.
?
"One willing and? one not," she said of the dead guardians of the tree.
?
"And how long do they last? If they were so much better or stronger than living ones, we'd not need to worry about it now, would we? OR is it that the willing one is just too hard to find."
?
She gave a slight smile.
?
"So few humans are self sacrificing...so few beings in general, after all."
?
After another look at Castiel she added another question.
?
"What is it that can come out of the tree? What sorts of beings does it...hold allow forth?"
?
It was likely a mortal rather than a home for such unless the very fruit turned into something other. Interesting thought that, and bothersome too if they had to be cleaning up after it as it were. Stupid Even and stupid tree!
?
"Yes the boundary spells may be useful to learn," she added, not minding the admission in the least for they were never anything she'd needed in her line of work. War was usually far more direct.

Re: Back at the Hotel (a call for help)
Relieved by the serious tone this conversation has been taking, Lucifer did not even bother to make any further disparaging remarks about Halbrek's?repellent physicality. A good joke could always wait for the right time to bloom and the best moment has not appeared just yet. At least the demonness proved her shrewdness asking the right questions. He may have expected as much but was reassured by the careful attitude nonetheless, it was no small matter he was going to entrust?to those youngsters and such precautions proved him to have made the right choice once again. ? "Well, there are such things as Bloodhounds, for instance, a pack of Hellhounds dedicated specifically to locating otherwise hidden opponents. The blood magic could not hide you from them directly, although I shall supply you with additional sigils that would?lead them astray.?Additionally, a body that is not possessed by a demon but is necromantically risen, could be immune to some types of blood spells but I can teach you boundary spells to fend them off, unless you are already familiar with them," Lucifer half wondered with amusement, his gaze carefully measuring?his newest recruits. ? "The standard way to contain the powers of the Tree has been to place a guardian?over it.?Sadly, we have all come to realize that?duration of the best guardian is rather short lived under duress so?the alternative might be to bury?two powerful but dead guardians(one willing and one not)?next to the place of growth, sanctify?their tomb with the customary sacrifices, sprinkle it with holy water or whatever other substances you have access to,?" The Lord of Fire briefly smirked at the irony of suggesting an item rumored?to work against him, and then grew serious once again. ? "It is possible eventually to set a network of alarms next to the tree, in case it is doing something?unexpected all of a sudden. You don't have to watch it all the time. I have some witches I could send to stand guard, and that could become their single mission in life. Your job would then become to promptly respond to a threat the witches or other guardians could not counter, mostly the things that come out of the Tree when it starts stirring. None too pleasant of beings but surely not too much for a great angel and a powerful demonness to handle," Lucifer?softly murmured, allowing a sole mocking note to creep into his last sentence. Sometimes, in?undeniably important opinion, degrees of mockery were absolutely vital to motivate his followers into action, giving them?a chance to prove themselves against the implied?accusation of their incompetence. ? ?? |

Re: Back at the Hotel (a call for help)
Halbrek found herself stalking slowly around Castiel as Lucifer spoke and she pondered over his words. Passing around the angel allowed her to watch his face from time to time, attentive for clues as to his optnion on the matters if he had any.
?
She did not speak as Lucifer laid things out for them as it were. Her lip curled silently once at mention of the earth queen and for a fleeting instant she wished she could use the power of the tree it destroy Alheala.
No, though, she would not risk such danger somehow backlashing onto her own person. Halbrek had always been too careful for that.
?
?
"This blood magic that can hide us from the other big guns...what are the loop holes...aka the catches that could get us killed. And as we can't destroy the tree, which I understand would be more than dangerous and just as undesirable as destroying this very world, what are we to do. How are we to guard and protect it and from what? A and how are we to stand constant guard over it and get anything else done in this war game of chess that someone seems to be playing end game on?"
?
Treading carefully, considering all options, questions and possibilities was the way to go when dealing with Lucifer no matter who you were.
