Halbrek was not the sort to become angry easily or to fly off the handle. Now more than ever a level head needed to be kept and she knew that as well. Lucifer was being difficult because he wanted pawns which she and Castiel obviously did not wish to be. She drew in a breath and slid another sidelong look to the angel at her side, wondering what he was thinking and hoping for some indication. When she spoke her words were calmly measured.

"All that you say about your greater age and abilities is true, else we would not have called you. We are better than you give us credit for, however. I noticed your traces, didn't I? Not everyone would've, and in fact most would not have. We are noticing what is happening, but as you also said unable to do much about it even with the assistance of our human allies so we have called upon you as you obviously know what is going on. We merely ask what we should be doing and for a little aid and protection while we're doing it. I don't see anyone else stepping up to help," she added, meeting his eyes firmly.

"And you should know me enough to know that I will be slave to no demon. You deserve my respect, and my caution but I will be the pawn of none."

She couldn't suppress a slight shudder at old memories of that very thing when she spoke. Ancient memories in fact but some scars were better left unopened for all that.

"This offer of ours?is simple. You know it and you don't need to make it a game and complicate it when you know there is work to be done."
