Katrina was quiet as he spoke of the things out to get his parents, not at all surprised those playing for the ¡®other team¡¯ would be inclined to target anyone who posed a real threat to their endgame. She had on occasion crossed paths with those who simply wanted her dead because she bore the Van Helsing family name. Their reputation tended to precede them more often than not. ¡°I suppose so.¡±

She had a touch of sadness in her eyes at the memory of driving a wooden stake through her own mother¡¯s heart. One hand moving to her back pocket as a pinging sound came from her phone, she brought the small device up so that she could read the screen then quickly responded to a text from Rayna.
