Elena could scarcely recall a time when she'd felt more conflicted. It would be impossible to choose who to protect. Damon or Bonnie? The loss of each was something she had already experienced at least once. It was a pain she simply didn't know if she could go through again. What could she do to prevent it? As her thoughts raced that kept circling back around to the same conclusion but she didn't know how, or even if it was possible, to get him to flip his switch again.
It was a topic of conversation she very much wished to abandon for a time as the feeling of helplessness and being on the verge of having another grave to mourn threatened her every effort to hold it together. She was relieved when he'd gone for a change in subject. ¡°You actually go dancing? Like without threats of bodily harm to convince you?¡±?
The last part hadn't been entirely serious but she did recall having to just about twist Stefan's arm when it came to dancing while with Damon it had never been difficult. She was looking over at him with mild curiosity as she couldn't quite tell who he¡¯d be more like when it came to that or whether she'd be left to her own devices. Though she very much doubted the last part.
