"Jupiter 1" Cutting wheel

开云体育

My "Jupiter 1"? pencil sharpener?has a 45 mm wheel for cutting.
However, the cuttings are not very good now after many years in use.
So, I am asking you for advice on how to scarp the edge.
The scarp edge of the knife is being a little bit round.?

Look at the pictures,?
Shall I scarp side A or B ?

Ps. Thanks to all for advice on how to make the 2 missing screws.

I would recommend making an indexable jig or make a mandrel to hold the cutter in a Spindex, mounted on the bed of a mill, set the proper angles for the sharping process, use a diamond wheel mounted in a mill to sharpen the part.? Some of those angles on the cutting wheel really look beat up. ?

Setting up the part for sharpening will require a bit of ingenuity.? There’s many ways to sharpen the blades.? If it were me I would just junk the thing and replace it with something brand new.

Have A Great Day??

Sharpen the "B" face first and see if that doesn't get the job done. if not then sharpen the ?"side. Good luck Johannes!? ?Bill in Boulder

Yup! By sharpening the B face, you'll restore the chip clearance that's been abraded away from normal wear.

It'd probably be worth the nuisance of making some type of guide to keep the same relief angle on all the teeth.
