What type of tool post?
I'd like to pick up an OXA QCTP. That gives me potentially 12 pre-setup, pre-shimmed tools between the three of them. |
I have a 0xa and really like it. I've had mine for years. I have several tool holders all set and it makes swapping between tools much faster especially when I was making small orifices that required going between lots of different operations.?

开云体育If I was going to buy a new tool post today I would probably be buying a Multifix/Multifix clone from Create tool . Has I known about them when I bought the AXA I have on my South Bend I would have bought one instead of the AXA I purchased . animal On 2/3/24 11:33 AM, Ryan H via

I look the Multifix/Multifix back 1970's.? Some operations I wish had.? But taking a heavy cut the like the Aloris. There is on setup I wish I had a American Tool post because it is thin. This is one area that I have no understanding of. Long ago I ordered a starter set from little machine shop and what I got was a A2Z setup. Of course by the time I really started to get into things, they no longer carried that anymore. Luckily a member here sold me another set. So that basically fixed me up. But other than that, no idea. I do good enough for me with that for now. True reality i think these will do me till i croak. But what are the true differances and why ? Are the differance extreme enough to buy a differant system ? thanks, george

开云体育?Dear Christopher, Something light hearted for Sunday Morning.. After my and others comments about giving the full name followed by the acronym(?) I thought you might have enlightened us on PITA. ???. ONLY JOKING.? But I do (even as a Brit) recall the CONTRA hearings (sorry I really don’t know what it stood for ) in the US SENATE, with Ollie North. ?Where one team said they had sent a Protective Memorandum called a CYA Memorandum.??? Really. I seem to recall they had to explain to the Senators. I think they said “Cover Your” and that was enough???? (I occasionally still use the CYA phase in light hearted conversations.) David? I even read the acronym thread.? Didn't realize I used them so often. I'm in IT (Information Technology) and the acronyms are kind of ubiquitous. Spent some time in the medical field, where they're just as bad, and often conflict with the acronyms in IT.? Can't imagine how someone working in IT in the military keeps everything straight as I hear they're the most acronym-heavy group by far.
I think PITA is my favorite though (Pain In The A55), although the military's FUBAR is a close second.

I have the LMS 0XA wedge-type set.? ?And additional holders.
Excellent, except the useless knurling tool in the set which had been miss-drilled by the manufacturer. But I have disassembled and milled that holder down to hold the "Diamond" brand diamond cutter to good advantage.? ?By which I mean to give the cutter the ability to do larger stock than would otherwise be possible. -- Lone Tree, Colorado? ?USA |
